The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Your whole faction has been painted into the villain role quite a bit, especially recently, even as far back as vanilla. I felt very uncomfortable even back then trying to play Horde content… particularly the Forsaken storylines.

I’m pointing to the absurdity of professing your opinions as facts, yet my equal and opposing opinions are invalid because this threads frequenters find it offensive.

You can all agree I’m wrong, but it won’t make you right. Not with regards to playing a High Elf.

‘‘At this point’’? As in ‘just started’?
I have haunted this thread for just two reasons: enabling my vicarious desire to act out my character by way of making my points,
AND
to see if there have been ANY relevant, logical posts WITH LINKS, by the opposition.
My first reason, well-fulfilled.
My second…not so much.

Well. I’ve enjoyed the tea sipping and hair flipping friend.

The truth is, I DO in fact have a Blood elf paladin. I just never play as him.

All of my friends play Alliance, so its incredibly lonely and boring… plus it feels strange having Orcs, Trolls, etc as my allies and Dwarves, Night elves, etc as my enemies.

No offense to Horde players, but it feels so unnatural to me.

I’m still waiting for a reply as to how Blood and High Elves are any different to the various other races and their allied “counterparts”.

Or hell, how they can possibly be any closer than Stormwindian and Kul Tiran, which are literally the same species.

You’ve been duking it out with high blood pressure alone since I peeked in this morning. You haven’t been trading in logic or evidence all day and you’ve been getting more belligerent since your arguments got defeated earlier.

You’re not getting dogpiled. You’re saying incorrect things in a room where everybody can prove you wrong.

You can get dogpiled less by saying stuff not everybody could correct you on if it’s upsetting you.

The takeaway here isn’t that you shouldn’t be able to enjoy the faction you feel like playing.

It’s that you shouldn’t expect, or worse, demand, that every player fantasy be available to you on both halves of a narratively separate game.

For better or for worse, the halves each have their own flavors, with little to no mixing, to reinforce that experience.

High Elves at their basest state, simply will always be just a Blood Elf with blue eyes.

It feels the most strange in the Draenor Garrison man.

My Sin’dorei characters are like, “WHO DECORATED THIS?”

I don’t recall them having Warlocks or draining energy from creatures, fel crystals or Naaru….

That seems pretty different.

The entire point of the thing was to show that other groups of elves do not count for the ones we are asking.

And you just added to that so according to your version of the checklist High Elves don’t count for Blood Elves either.

Blood Elves do not meet the checklist so they do not count toward the request and thus have nothing to do with our request for High Elves.

Opinions aren’t an area of correctness.

I feel this way. You feel that way.

Lydon channeling Yzma right now.

Lots of humans joined the Cult of the Damned or Twilight’s Hammer and did all sorts of nasty stuff.

They still look like (and are) humans.

Ooooooooooh, you played that card; Exactly! Thereby proving this is in NO WAY a Lore issue, it can be done simply if Blizz lets it. Thanks for confirming that point!

And then they added literal Night Elves to the Horde and literal Blood Elves to the Alliance…

You’ve got opinions.

We’ve been smooshing them with the lore, the game, the printed materials…

When you’ve got an opinion and we’ve got an opinion that argument might work. What’s happening is you’ve got an opinion that’s inconsistent with everything.

Except he’s talking about the actual group you’re playing as.

Too much fabulosity for me to handle.

Your posts are a really nice touch for every thread :joy:.

I remember one time that you said:
