The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I want to see your reasoning for each race that has been added to WoW and why…

You don’t seem to understand the purpose of Allied Races.

So I’d like to see you demonstrate your understanding of developmental mentality and the reasoning behind adding races.

I think this is doubly important because people often make the assertion of developer judgement.

And so if people think that they can accurately assess the judgement of developers I think that it should be easy for them to demonstrate developer reasoning behind adding other races.

So… Please proceed. I’ve written a defense to this argument dozens of times. But I’ve never seen the other writers understanding or logic in this argument demonstrated.

Because the allied race system makes it cheaper, easier and faster to add races.

They tend to reuse existing assets with minor modification, and thus save a great deal of time and resources to produce. They also don’t have to spend a great deal of time or resources creating starting areas and quest chains leveling to 20 and joining the main zones.

Nico, I’ve written that dozens of times. I think it’s time to see the cognitive firepower behind the other side of the argument.

I swear these same old arguments getting shot down every time must be frustrating for them.

Hahah you believe i’m frustrated? I’m just passing time. But pray tell me, what do Blizzard gain finally caving in to your incessant demands? You’re still a paying customer as far as I know.

The only thing they’d gain is even more demands by people thinking they made a difference, like that guy seemed to think horde asking for nightborne made one.

I agree. But to be honest I’m endlessly entertained by watching their arguments collapse under the weight of their own faulty logic.

Our issue here is that Abendroth doesn’t understand the base reasoning behind the existance of Allied Races.

Often having them explain their own understanding reveals the problem.

and also most of those people playing blood elves want to be horde anyway. I don’t know why there is this huge conspiracy among the anti’s that most blood elf players are secretly alliance enthusiasts waiting for their chance to immediately faction swap to a high elf. I guess they are projecting themselves onto others.

I believe that the majority of Blood Elf players want to play a pretty race and be on the Horde.

I don’t think there is a large group of players playing the Horde just so they can play a High Elf and I think that the Void Elves likely converted that group already.

at least if you could put your crusade on the removal of the faction divide, I could play with my alliance friends and your could play your precious high elf…

I don’t support removing the faction divide.

That is the one thing that would make me quit WoW forever.

also I couldn’t play a high elf because blizzard would have still not made them playable. You can’t seem to differentiate blood elves from high elves which is honestly kind of insulting to both of them.

What would Blizzard have to gain by addressing the requests if their paying customers? That is an excellent question. A question I wish Blizzard would entertain at any point at all.

It is a question I wish anyone along the pipeline of development, sales or administration would consider for even a few minutes.

What would Blizzard have to gain by addressing the requests if their paying customers?

The “if only” possibilities seem staggering.

They did adress it though. They said nope.

Oh i do. The high elves were scattered to the four winds when arthas attacked. The blood elf decided, for gameplay reason only, to go with the horde. Now the differences are political, eye color and supposedly a greenish tone to the skin.

But if the faction divide was removed, they could have the specs of high elf on it and everybody would gain in population.

The best of both worlds!

That’s not addressing, that’s dismissing. And I, for one, would like to imagine a more prosperous future than the kind of bleakness dismissal promises.

The development team may have other hopes as they dig deeper into the double down swamp of their own egos.

This thread seems like a more hopeful take on what can be achieved by attending to the desires of the people who give you money. Openly optimistic, I think.

Nah. Blood Elves aren’t Quel’dorei.

We’d still have an issue.

Also, I see there was no attempt to define your logic.

That’s fairly telling.

Read the post after that. I already adressed that.

Now you’re playing with words. Adressing does NOT mean approving.

I asked you to explain your reasoning and understanding of the developmental reasons why Blizzard added the other races.

You dodged out of it.

Also I didn’t know that the Sha’dorei males had a Tyrion Lannister “I drink and I know things” /silly.

Nyshant’s such a perfect forum debate avatar.

I’m not a dev.
