The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

It’s odd that I see this post as being #10,213. I wonder if some posts were hidden or something, or if something is messed up on my end…

Also, many High Elves never re-named themselves and never left the Alliance. It is these individuals who have diverged socially, culturalky, and politically from the Blood Elves.

The system might bugged out, the counting was normal before the 10.000 mark and then all the sudden it jumped to 10210, something probably made it count hidden and deleted posts, on the main forum page it still show 10.000.

My assumption is that over the thread’s lifetime, some posts were removed by moderators. While the count in the link remain unchanged, the post count for actual posts seen on the right reflects the number of posts that haven’t been subjected to removal by moderators.

They don’t have to be identical to Blood Elves though. We’ve already been over this. They can look different without there needing to me some magical/physiological difference.

the only changes needed to differentiate High Elves from Blood Elves would be a unique idle stance, unique hairstyles (which could be adapted from Void Elf and Kul Tiran hairstyles to remain unique to the Alliance), customization options like tattoos, facial hair, and jewelry.

Just look at how the idle stance of female Nightborne makes such a difference in how they appear compared to Night Elves. Also that different idle stance makes the female Nightborne’s “Run” animation different from the female Night Elf further differentiating them from each other.

The color palette doesn’t have to be identical to Blood Elves either. I mean sure there’d be similarities, but the High Elf skin palette could stand weaker on the “red” end of the spectrum. What I mean by that is more pale beige flesh tones, less pink or sun-tanned. It could also have darker options on the “brown” end of the spectrum like Humans have.

As for Hair, High Elves could also use some of the same hair color options that Humans have. There’s a blonde option that humans have that’s different from any of the Blood Elf options, and High Elves could have the actual black hair option that Humans sport and a pale silver blue.

These changes alone should be more than sufficient to differentiate them from Blood Elves and don’t require any retcons. Just because player Blood Elves have a certain selection of hair styles/etc doesn’t mean player High Elves have to have the same selection.

T’was a troll

I don’t think you know what that word means.

Starting a conversation on a topic I know is likely to pick up some traction isn’t trolling.

Do you people really believe that the only possible reason not to want a longtime Horde race to be given over to the Alliance is as some kind of nefarious scheme to upset you? Come on now.

You literally said you came here just to call High Elves stupid to get responses

That feels pretty troll-y

And did I come here and just say high elves were stupid or did I start a conversation about why I felt they weren’t a good addition to the game with well reasoned and lore appropriate posts that happened to push the thread over the 10k post mark?

No, you brought the same age-old “arguments” that have been argued and responded to over and over to exhaustion and yet keep being brought here by antis as if they’re brand-new.

As opposed to all the pro-helf posts that are all completely new and unique and haven’t at all been covered so much you are currently literally posting in a thread designed to contain them because the forum at large got so sick of hearing the same damn posts day after day for the last 10 years?

Yes, because when antis aren’t around with “High Elves = Blood Elves” we discuss new ideas as to how High Elves could be made playable, how they could be made further different from Blood Elves to appease Horde players, what customization options there could be for them, etc.

But then twice or thrice a week one of you shows up and claims that High Elves are Blood Elves, and then we start listing all the distinctions between them and how they compare to the distinctions between other Main and Allied Races, and then that’s done until an anti shows up again and claims High Elves are Blood Elves again.

We are actually being productive here, providing ideas and suggestions that the devs could use if they have plans for them. What did the people parading against High Elves produced aside from walls of text?

Honestly at this point we could just make a fixed post with every single difference between High and Blood Elves and how playable High Elves could further be differentiated like Nicodemus’ and link it whenever another anti shows up. Sure would save some time.

I mean, let’s be honest. You’re providing ideas to each other to enjoy. Realistically Blizzard is unlikely to read any of these posts and even less likely to pay attention to them.

If this is true, it’s not our fault if Blizzard didn’t care about player feedback.

Who knows for certain? Comments from former employees suggests that feedback is observed and does make a difference, which does seem to be the case considering Blizzard has changed it’s mind in the past on certain things.

While our ideas may not be added to the game with High Elves, our continued passion for this potential Allied Race is all that is needed to ensure it remains a considered addition.

I’m not telling you that you can’t talk about it. I’m telling you that we have a thread for relitigating the same argument over and over again.

This isn’t an original sin here, your argument, if anything you are arguing the same knee jerk reaction we see on the daily.

But this thread was just starting to hit a constructive stride.

Blizzard just needs to be aware that we are interested. So hypothesizing is fine. They don’t have to take our suggestions.

Yeah they gave us Gaunt Ugly versions of Night Elves, The Alliances second most popular race. Which counts for 27% of the Alliances player base at 120.

Lets face it the High Elf crowd wouldn’t be happy if they got gaunt ugly versions of Blood Elves. So please stop with the whole The Horde got a Night Elves so who cares. Sorry to say this but there’s a bit of a difference between messing with, 27% of a factions population, and 38% of a factions population. There’s also a difference between the most popular race on one faction and the second most popular race on the other faction.

The for High Elves in the Alliance claim to be asking for things to make High Elves different. When much of what they are asking for Blood Elf players have been asking for, since they were introduced. I’m sorry but while I’m all for Alliance getting High Elves, I’m not going to lie to myself. I know that there’s a good chance of it being detrimental to the Horde population, this thread actually helps to prove that.
