The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Doesn’t show up there either.

I’ve made a bonobo of myself today.

I meant the person whose named Talendrion.

FFS they had the same hood wtf.

Ah, yes, Talendrion’s Transmog is fantastic. Always appreciate it.

Hahah thank you! but yeah I’m not the OP! Xyaa and I just have similarly exquisite taste ;D!

This Mog isn’t all that hard to get! you just need to do a lot of Ulduar, get exalted with the Sliver Covenant for the tabard, get the staff from Felmyst on Sunwell Plateau, and one of the Legion PvP sets for 12 Marks of Honor to get the Belt and cape!

One day I’d like to get a bunch of HE lovers together on our HE mogs, could be a nice event

Linking images with my awesome level 3 powers.

I’m not sure I like it. When I imagine “high elf-like” void elves, I think of elves that feel more “natural” but still have something odd about them. If they are going to look like normal elves, then just give us high elves instead.

I have thought for a lone time, not, that 4 allied races might be nice.
for Alliance- High elves, and Half-Elves.
Horde- Ogres, and Half-Ogres.
At this point, why not?

but it was not official that the response to the request of the high elves was the void elf?
He would swear that in one of his streaming they said something similar.

I also remember that Chen helped in the horde, and I think he appeared in the patches of the Orgrimmar Foundation or not?

No, Blizzard never said anything like that. All that was said was “blood elves are pretty much high elves, and void elves are a another flavor of high elf” and that with void elves they wanted to “do something new and cool”.

While I’m no Talendrion, I did get curious as to what my mage would look like with High Elf customization options and here’s what I came up with:

I couldn’t really get the white hair I was looking for but I guess that’s close enough.

That skin tone is closer to what I think would be nice for “normal” void elves: slightly bluish/purplish but a warm skin tone.

Yea, I basically just did a hue/saturation adjustment of my original skin tone and hair, not a full on replacement.

It makes the elf still feel unnatural, not a healthy high elf. I like that way better than just making a “fake” high elf.

As my old mock-up images:

And this one which is not a treated image. This is actually a true in-game screenshot, just under the right lighting:

Which was my point. The neutrality was very well defined…but their own faction identities were never developed. Both factions take a back seat in their own expansion which came across as very weak development.

The other problem is the Huojin and Tushui ideologies, are very weak themselves.

He looks great! and yeah! editing the hair color is the hardest thing because the value of VE colors is very low and it’s a pain to value up cause you loose pretty much all the detail.

It’s a lot of the reason why I just paint over new hair lol.

Maybe so, but still I think they could have been developed from where they started alongside the war; I do think they were a proper base for more development, a development that never came though.

So yes, the void elf were the answer.

Very this.

I also don’t need Void Elves to be carbon copies of High Elves or Blood Elves but I would like just a bit more variation to them.

Being of Thalassian descent though I’d still like Blonde for them as well as a couple of other lighter hair colors.

Void Elves can’t make more of the current version. That was a one time thing that happened, and the exact process was an accident that won’t be able to be repeated.

This means that new recruits that join them and learn the void powers will look different. Their appearance will be unchanged, even if their racial abilities are still the same as the original Void Elves (the racials are their void-magic training).

And since it will have to be recruits from the Silver Covenant, due to the “purge of Silvermoon” removing all of the dissenting shadow-users, it will necessitate them having the same appearance as other members of the Silver Covenant.

Just like Heart of Azeroth was the answer to the weapon artifact system.

A worse, disfunctional evolution that pleases no one.

I think dark red, bege (“corrupted blonde”) and silver-blue hair colors would fit void elves really well.

Silver-blue is even the color of Alleria’s hair in her void form!
