Considering the whole point is hoping Blizzard changes their mind sometime, it’s pretty self explanatory why the discussion still exists.
That’s my point, they won’t… though if you pressure them enough, i’m sure blizz will say no a third time.
So i’m curious, Blizz doesn’t even pay attention to this thread anymore and have shown no sign’s of even trying to acknowledge it. Same with High Elves in game aside from the occasional teased npc. The youngest windrunner didn’t even do anything this expac aside from cry for a few minutes in the comic.
Wanting to stick to their allies and then not wanting to use dangerous magic is the same as wanting to pursue dangerous magic and leaving your allies?
Wait, that’s a twist on the Blood Elf story. And that’s what they are!
Recoloring Blood Elves to purple is not making “close to High Elves as possible”.
Yet the model remained perfectly intact
Actually the most recent reply was that they might consider adding high elf appearances to the Void Elves…most of the talk now is trying to convince them that this is a bad way to handle it as HIgh Elves were desired much more than the Void Elves. There’s plenty of reason to make HE their very own playable race and not just a visual option for Void Elves.
Mind giving me a link on where they said this? I honestly doubt they would if they wanted to give void elves Blood Elf skins they would have done so on release, as for high elves I also doubt blizzard would reuse the same model for one AR on another AR of the same faction.
Oh I actually found it
Start at 24 minutes in.
He basically says there’s always the chance, and not to give up hope. People were making threads after that discussing it. Some thought it might be an okay thing and others that were really wanting proper High Elves did not like it. Does seem like a bad way to handle it.
I feel it’d be a much cooler and better implementation to do High Elves as a proper allied race. (and San’layn for horde )
and yet the model is the least we care about and most willing to change.
Thank you for the video, however he said there was hope not that they could be planning any potential Void Elf - High Elf customizations in the near future, so there’s no confirmation of that neither.
If you would change the model, is it still a high elf at all?
which is a good thing because doing that completely misses the point and would do nothing to deter the discussion of adding high elves.
yes? The shape of the body is not genetic. They can change the model to make them shorter or taller, change their idle stance, change their muscle size, ect.
What makes them high elves is the story, background, and lore attached to them.
I have come to realize that a large issue with those that oppose the addition of high elves is that they can’t tell the difference between the race and some arbitrary model that represents them in game. They just see appearances and don’t take into consideration what makes a group of people who they are.
True, it’s possible, it at least shows they’re aware of the issue.
I’m finding the Kirin Tor signs in the Stormwind Portal hall kinda interesting though…wonder if that could be a hint at things to come.
As for the model change. Talendrion has some High Elf models using the NIght Elven skeleton that are quite well done and definitely look like a high elf.
Agreed, with the model mentioned above they look a bit more muscular which works well for ones that kept to nature and could also be explained due to the lack of continuing addiction.
Heck, I just go by color anymore…at quick glance, I can rarely tell which race is what.
I don’t know which Void Elves you’re talking about but they aren’t the same ones we got in game. Blizzard made ZERO effort to make them “as close to High Elves as possible”. So where you’re coming up with this BS is anyone’s guess. The entire story, fantasy, look, and feel of Void Elves is not even remotely close to that of High Elves. They originated from friggin Blood Elves!
And Void Elves are popular despite their complete and utter lack of High Elf fantasy, not because of it. I am playing a Void Elf right now as you can see. They look cool, and as flimsy as their story is right now, I see potential for them. But that doesn’t mean I accept them as a High Elf substitute because, as I said, THEY FAIL SPECTACULARLY in that regard.
Void Elves are popular for reasons that have nothing to do with High Elves and High Elf fans, but just because they are popular in general does not mean they didn’t fail to placate the High Elf fans. They most certainly did fail at that particular goal, which is why I say they aren’t a real compromise. They gave the people asking for High Elves nothing and you expect us to be grateful for it. That’s just ludicrous.
You already know what their answer will be, blizz replied twice already with the same answer so I am curious why this discussion is still ongoing
No I actually DON’T know the answer and even if I did, answers can change. We will keep asking, and keep asking, and keep asking, until we get what we want or the game shuts down. We have nothing to lose by doing so and you will get to see it, day in, and day out, for the rest of WoW’s existence or until we get High Elves. It’s really that simple.
If hypothetically, Blizzard had given us Half Elves instead of Void Elves (and did them right), I believe that most pro-High Elf players would have accepted them as a compromise. They at least are descended from the High Elves already members of the Alliance unlike the Void Elves which are Blood Elves turned traitor. They have a story and fantasy related to High Elves that’s supported by existing lore, not pulled out of someone’s “void” like the Void Elves are. That you can sit here and seriously try and say Blizzard made any effort to make Void Elves close to High Elves is truly baffling.
You can blame Blizzard for this discussion still going on. They could have made the Void Elves originate from the Alliance High Elves but they didn’t. They could have written the story to necessitate that all of the High Elves with the Alliance turn to the void for their survival and thus end the discussion right then and there, but they didn’t. And while it’s purely conjecture on my part, I believe that the reason they didn’t is because they wanted to keep the option open…
And just as a parting shot let me leave you with the words of Ion Hazzikostas himself from the same interview where we got the infamous “the Horde is waiting for you” meme.
Anything’s possible in the future, but no plans in the near term to add High Elves as an allied race.
That isn’t a no. That isn’t a never. That’s an implication that things can change. But why would they change if we just rolled over and gave up? THAT is why this discussion continues to march on and will continue to march on for the foreseeable future.
Found another nail in the “Blue Eyes for Blood Elves” coffin.
To be purified by the Sunwell is to have Golden Eyes. Straight from the Horse’s Mouth.
So if anyone tries to derail in to that petty topic again you can just link this.
Here’s a High Elf model based off of the Night Elf one.
No one would question that as a High Elf. It would just be more buff which is based off of established lore.
This is just one of many examples.
One is making a totally new model and using it for both High Elves and San’layn.
Your video example doesn’t prove anything. There’s no official source saying the sunwell is NO LONGER an font of arcane AND holy energy. So blood elves having blue eyes only makes sense AS WELL AS gold eyes.
Your models look exactly like blood elves…which look exactly like void elves… how would nobody question that? LOL.
I mean, you can say “Yeah but I photo shopped multiple bodies together to make it different!” all you want, but nobody’s buying that.
Plug your ears all you want. The Sunwell is no longer a pure source of Arcane.
You can’t separate them.
They literally just said to be purified by the sunwell is to get Golden Eyes.
The argument is over.
Those are Night Elf models. So I guess you can’t tell any elf apart?
Well there’s your problem.
They never said that there’s no arcane power within the sunwell, so you’re wrong.
It doesn’t matter. They are mixed. You can’t filter one side of the Sunwell out.
If you could filter the Sunwell the Keal would have never had to destroy it when it was corrupted, because you could just chose not to draw on the corruption.
The Sunwell punch has been spiked with Light. Drink it and you get Light.
