The only words from on high that I personally denounced was that Alleria is a Void Elf. I won’t rehash my reasons why, but I will freely admit, that just because I don’t consider Alleria a Void Elf, doesn’t make my opinion canon lore.
But believe me or not, I am not speaking from an agenda point of view in regards to Silvermoon’s politics. I am simply speaking from the point of view that until something is either updated in game, or a novel/short story says otherwise, you can’t just assume things have changed. I won’t deny they might have, heck they probably have. But until we get something… anything… saying they actually have changed, we can’t just say our assumptions are correct.
And I am willing to concede on such point. I just figured that the transformation made her one, but in the terms of race…i could see why she doesnt count.
But you also cannot claim that it isnt outdated, when Blizzard has talked about how it was in the past.
So during BFA, blood elves still have to constantly prove themselves to join the Horde which can only happen through Dar’Khan’s second death which canonically happened in TBC.
I absolutely agree with you that the content is outdated, and I would be delighted to see it brought current and for Silvermoon to get the update it so desperately needs and brought into the main world (along with the Draenei zones).
I agree! I would like to see it developed. I wouldnt mind them taking away from content to bring those two zones to the live servers.
I just do not like the idea of using content that is outdated compared to everything else to make present-day points in Azeroth. I have already agreed that Silvermoon was a virtual police state during TBC-WotLK.
I just dont wish to use an interaction that has not been touched since as late as 2.2.0 (ten years ago), especially when numerous parts of those zones are extremely dated.
Unfortunately its the situation we are stuck with. Time is frozen at whatever point the devs leave it frozen at assuming there’s no new lore added via updates or media outside the game. Make no mistake I believe you’re probably right that the politics have changed. I am just saying that until we get something that says it has we can’t say our assumptions are actual facts.
But I hope that they do update those zones. The real annoyance for me is that there’s no reason the Draenei islands can’t be brought into Kalimdor and be flyable right now. It’s only Silvermoon’s “smoke and mirrors” design (and Zul’Aman’s exterior) that’s really keeping both races zones locked on the tbc server. And I believe Silvermoon would look glorious from above if it got updated.
You can still find the old High Elves in the Blasted Lands (Pre WoD mode) who use the old textures, the ones you got here are downright beautiful and would work perfectly as a unique model High Elf to make them different to both Blood Elves and Void Elves, only one that looks weird is the first one maybe the second one as well on the far left side cause that thickness looks weirder in lighter colours whereas the darker and tanned ones look much better.
Question is animations, what would they use? Night Elf?, High/Blood/Void Elf? or a combination of the two?.
I think these Telendrion models still have to get more work. They need to get a bit more ‘elvish’ and military posture. Also, I don’t care about playable High Elven don’t getting the Blood Elf skeleton, but the majority of our community wants it.
These would be perfect for me honestly. The reason I find these ideal is that I feel they make the greatest compromise as being a Horde player, High Elves that have differences from Blood Elves aesthetically are much more appealing to me than carbon copies of the Blood Elf model.
This is around the time that someone may bring up Void Elves, and while I do like them, they plainly do not fill the same role while at the same time High Elves would still have to be different enough. Which is where High Elves with mixed lineage come in as the main surviving populace where there could be a couple options with more Human features as well as some with more Thalassian features.
This way they’ll have both options highlighting their diluted blood and options that are more Elvish, providing more options than just a carbon copy of Blood Elves and moving closer to Alliance models, aesthetics and themes.
I love Talendrion’s mockup and would be overjoyed to see High Elves presented in this fashion. I’d also be quite fine if his concept was applied to Half Elves (if that were the only way to get the High Elf fantasy).
I’m not arguing that they dont have the same political system. I’m arguing that because a zone hasnt been updated in ten years, does not mean that the police state is still fully active in BFA.
Especially with how lore has progressed since TBC. So if you want to claim that Lorthemar was actively trying to censure anti-Horde opinions during Mists when he was making discussions to leave the Horde for the Alliance…that’s kind of dumb.
OR when the purge happened, Lorthemar means the sindorei people calling out for vengeance…why doesnt he just censor opinion or have the Magisters do their things again?
I suppose it could be plausible. I’ve never particularly liked their need to make each allied race extremely different physically from core races. If they ever did add High Elves, I’d rather see them as the Thalassian model with a few color changes, personally.
Highmountain Tauren weren’t wildly different and they were recieved well.
