The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

Why are they turning into cats tho lol.

Druids???

druids . hmm not sure for horde but alliance druids were initially nelf only. and they drew upon moonwells theoretically, based on warcraft 3. which are said to be arcane with nature’s blessing (whatever that means!). they are nature magic wells. and as a result. nelfs have had white glowy eyes.

Okay so I see what you guys are saying but hear this

If High Elves only originally had blue eyes because the Arcane power sunwell

and are apparently no longer dependent on the sunwell or magic in general

Shouldn’t their eyes be changed to like a whitish color? Because that would be cool. Plus if they made the eyes a silvery white, it would work with the whole “Silver” covenant theme. And it would also be a great opposite to the Blood elves, who are now gaining golden eyes.

Why are they druids lol? Like even so, taking on animal aspects in their humanoid form is something exceedingly rare for a Druid. Like the only one that has happened to is Malfurion.

there’s a slight hint of it in the night elf female run animation in vanilla - wotlk . they leaned forward into their run and swung their arms forward while running as if they were cat’s paws digging at the ground as they ran. dunno if you remember that

A behavioral movement is a long way from a physiological change like having cat ears and cat eyes.

to me it always looked like they were partially transformed into cat form  like in the vanilla intro movie where the female nelf transforms into cat form.

But we are talking about “animal aspects” on regular humanoid form; and that relates to a exceptionally deep connection to nature/drudism, and why only Malfurion has shown that level of balance.

Like the originals druid of the pack lost themselves on the beast and that’s the origin of the worgen curse.

oh interesting. ideas popping in from the creative aether

To be fair, I think all races should have the standard original classes unlocked now, like having race/restrictions seem pointless now, In “lore” everything can be taught to other races… like literally their isn’t any exceptions besides if the person wants to learn it or not…

So really nothing is to far fetched for a race to have any class.

The only classes that don’t apply are Death Knights and Demon Hunters, because they have their own lore.

Also, like technically shouldn’t Forsaken be ever Human Class? That never made sense that it’s different when they literally are raised Humans.

Blizzard will butcher the lore to make anything work, Human Druids have been wanted since release, the reply you need to be connected to Emerald dream bla bla bla, then Worgens came, ohh they cursed… and now Kul’tirans, ohh the Drustvr, who cares about the Emerald dream now .

ever wonder why elves have such long ears in wow? and why nightborne ears are actually stiff like they are partially calcified or something

I mean it comes from their Troll ancestry, so the question is why do Trolls have such long ears, and tbh I don’t have a theory

And as for Nightborne stiff ears, lol I’m chalking that up to unfinished animation hahaha. I do like how the tip of their ears start going upward, leaving them as the in between for Night Elf and Thalassian Elf

I mean, I just find it funny that almost all of the leadership types are essentially the same. It’s not like the Alliance is known for their grand democracy or anything which is interesting considering the high elves weren’t fast friends with them all the time anyway, so it’s not like it’s a big change for them to not be allied with the Alliance as a majority. This whole “Lor is a fascist” thing is like…old and hasn’t really been supported going forward nor is it some kinda thing about why the split happened nor some kinda “AHA GOTCHA” item for why they tend to try to hold the alliance elves as some kinda higher standard (lol.)

We know there’s no real difference besides where their loyalties lie, and the one time they actually did get altered it took a cosmic force directly causing it in a short period of time to change the very fundamental of their being…void elves.

i find the “lack of eye glow” thing a non point considering it’s incredibly inconsistent and never indicated to be anything but weird sthuff going on with the engine (like how they realized ALL the lamposts in westfall were actually bugged but they didn’t know cause the bug texture in debug mode was bright…)

LOL! I’m not sure if you’re being serious but this gave me a chuckle.

“cat elves!”

Then again with Vulpera Blizzard seem to be going in the square enix-ish race direction

it reminded me of saberon. saberon druids for the alliance so horde can have vulpera . heheheheheheheh deep breath heheheheh … sighs hehehe

cats and dogs living together, total pandemonium!

I really think you need to admit you’re wrong in this Bourbon. I mean you’re right in the sense that it hasn’t been updated in a decade. But until it does get updated or until some novel or short story says different, the politics havent changed in Silvermoon, only the guy in charge has.

Just because the content hasn’t been updated doesn’t mean things have changed. They might have… but until we get word from on high, we have to stick to what we are shown, and what we are shown is that Lorthemar has maintained the status quo. You can’t assume otherwise just because a lot of time has passed without an update. And that’s the honest truth.

Glad to see Elsharin training new mages on the PTR  she’s one of my fave NPC’s cause I always went to her on my very first mage.

Thats not how an argument works. Thats an argument of ignorance. Unless you want to say that Blood elves still are killing Dar’Khan in Ghostlands and have to officially join the Horde in quest line…that makes no sense.

I dont concede, because you are only hinging on the argument because it proved an anti-blood elf point that has no relevance in this discussion of high elves.

On top of that, since the Draenai have received stories post their in game content…means that the TBC content is dated, by your guys own admission; causing your entire counter-premise to be shoddy.

Unless you want to admit you are cherry-picking which content is current by your own admissions, and which isnt?

Yes it does. Blood elves have been in the Horde since TBC, why am I still doing quests to officially join the Horde?

Which is funny, considering the last time you got words on high…you denounced it heavily. You guys will only accept their words when it fits in with your side’s agenda (whether I agree with it or not).
