The Unofficial High Elf Discussion Megathread

I actually disagree. I think Blizzard giving void elves quel’dorei customization as possible since they are their own thing with actual difference from the quel’dorei/sin’dorei dichotemy of the highborne.

Can I take a second to thank you guys for keeping it chill in this thread? Whenever I look at the other threads it seems like it’s a warzone full of hatred and everyone is arguing in circles over and over again.

So thank you  feels nice coming in here every once in a while

I already have enough trouble differentiating between all the blue races which used to be Alliance and now also Horde. So, if they didn’t want to blur the lines they wouldn’t have given horde Nightborne and therefore Alliance should have already gotten High Elves fully.

Eh. Nightborne are very close to the highborne theme that blood elves had…I dont want to get into the rest of what you post for civil nature.

I’ll glady eat my words if proven wrong. I’d be quite happy to have more customization options for my void elves but like I said earlier, that dev response was a non-confrontational-non-answer. Basically saying “Anything is possible! Just be nice about how you ask for it!”, was not any sort of indication that they ever plan on adding such options or that they were ever considering it. I just can’t get my hopes up on that.

I figure if I keep my expectations low, I won’t be disappointed if proven right, but pleasantly surprised if proven wrong. I hate that by the way. That I view the possibilities for things I want so negatively. I want to be hopeful. I want to believe we can get the things we want, but Blizzard isn’t exactly making it easy to be hopeful. I mean these are the devs that thought beer guts and binge eaters were a good aesthetic for Kultirans.

Wouldn’t Quel’dorei Options defeat the whole process of making the Void Elves being their own thing. I mean their Heritage Armor isn’t even Ranger Theme nor Magister/Spellbreaker Theme. So giving Void Elves Quel’dorei Customization kind of makes them out of place to be a Ren’dorei kind of Elves.

Yes including the Anti High Elf Post about Why High Elves don’t work. That’s a Warzone already happening.

No.

Which is fine, since it has its own specific overtones and underlying themes of the race.

Its a fun place.

If you look at some weeks ago, this thread here was a warzone full of anti-high elven hatred.

I just had a wisdom tooth removed.

I would rather do that again then argue with the people in that thread…

It’s literally one of the worst threads on the forums and both sides of that topic aggravate me.

On topic I think people are overstating the similarities between Blood Elf and High Elf skin colors.

People keep saying they have no differences other then eye color but if you look High Elves actually have pailer and bluer colored skin.

Before the retcon it was stated that the Blood Elves developed darker skin and hair because of the Fel Taint and where evolving into a new race.

Now we can still say that the Fel made their skin darker and redder as we still see their skin color differences in game and we see what happens when they overdose on Fel. They become dark red and get black hair.

So it is still cannonicle they do not have the same skin color.

So while the differences aren’t highly noticeable at a glance currently there is no reason we can have those differences enhanced when made playable.

Also there is that dark skinned one in the book that has never been shown on Blood Elves.

Does anyone have some comparisons between Blood Elf and High Elf skin colors?

I know this is off topic but if you use Ret spec do you use the guitar shaped ax for transmog? Being as you should with your name Viking God of Rock (Assuming of course you got your name from Dexter’s Lab)

And yet many people still blame Alliance Night Elves for all that the Highborne did in the past.

So we’re in this weird situation where people view Nightborne as not Night Elves when they are basically Night Elves, putting the Night Elves in a weird spot cause now they can’t even associate with their own history.

It was my biggest gripe with Nightborne and still is. Even when most Night Elf enthusiasts recognized the distinctions, those Highborne were still Night Elves so all those ancient ruins we have seen since Warcraft III were ancient Night Elf history.

Then they gave ancient Night Elf history to the Horde.

Then burned the modern Night Elf history to the ground.

14 years hoping for playable High Elves for the Alliance. Never give up brothers and sisters. FOR THE ALLIANCE!

Its simple. Blood Elves used to have While Skin but now thanks to Fel they have darker/Red Skin. Sure There might be some white but their arms and legs is Red still. Not Pale White like the High Elves.

High Elves look more Human like and Snow Elfish Kind with Pale White Skin and Pinkish White Skin too.

Visually High Elves can be made distinct from Blood Elves. A change of the idle stance does wonders. Just look at the Nightborne who share models and similar coloring with Night Elves. The main difference there, visually, would be that Nightborne are slimmer than Night Elves. Overall though, the biggest distinction is the silhouette through the different idle stances.

As Void Elves have shown, differences in hair/skin color doesn’t exactly amount to much when a character is fully armored. Besides that, the Alliance did not need more purple/blue elves.

I think the best thing though is, that High Elves don’t really need much development even after being added as playable to the Alliance. They’re a race that’s been established in the Alliance over WoW’s lifetime already. Resources can continue to pour into developing and fleshing out Void Elves instead.

Know what…XMAS is around the corner ALL elves need to %$#@ and make some toys.

Got long lists to satisfy.

this was my thoughts for months. just a few of the belf animations to carry over such as the female head tilt and such.

While I agree there was an essence of fault, it wasnt written well and should have focused on the sin’dorei and shal’dorei similarities rather than the “mean words”. But it has happened…and it should be resolved.

They are basically a different group of Highborne. And they can interact with Highborne…because the kal’dorei allowed them back in during Cataclysm.

Its not like they have no access to that kind of history. Just no access to Suramar.

Yes.

No, they gave more Highborne history to the Horde that has the race who are descendants of the ancient Highborne. They didnt give them night elf lore at all.

Sure you can say that the Highborne are part of ancient Kal’dorei history, but the Horde would have that same ancestry in their ranks ala sin’dorei.

So maybe a better idea.

Model - base them on current blood/high/void Elf models. Just make the males a bit more muscular, the females a bit more curvy, and tone down the ears and eyebrows a notch.

Animations - base them on the current human animations with a bit of Elf flair… like the head tilt you mentioned.

Why not just give them the human skin options, along with the possibilities of dark skin tones?

Night Elfs are decendants of Dark Trolls.

Yo daddy is a troll
