The true tell of how dead the casual arena scene is

is how dead the 2v2 ladder is

I thought 2s was usually fine up until just above Duelist. :dracthyr_a1:

Arena has been dying for years… it’s just a bunch of sweaty no life’s now. It just needs to be scrapped and they need to focus on real pvp not wannabe e-sports arena garbage.

2s died even moreso when rated shuffle came out. why waste my time in the bm hutner bracket as an enh when i can at least do 3s in shuff

Casual arena has been ceased to exist a long time ago in WOW.

You hopefully don’t share the opinion of Ion, that real PvP is players versus objectives in battlegrounds which is even more dead than the arena scene for a very good reason! That is like you would tell us, real boxing is about 22 people running behind a ball and try to get it behind a goal line!

The reason why arena is dead is not because the game mode is bad, its because the devs either don’t care about the class design for PvP or they don’t understand how to design the classes for it. Beside some other reasons like a frustrating static mmr system, too slow balancing and so on.

Rated BGs yes. Unrated BGs on the other hand are a different story. Players like BGs. It’s just not tracked all over websites like rated is.

Prove that I guess. How many PvPer play exclusively normal BGs but avoid the competitive scene like RBG/arena/shuffle/blitz brawl

That was true 10 years ago before Solo shuffle.

Now the way to check is by Solo Shuffle participation

Shuffle has taken the role and purpose of 2v2, which is to allow players to jump in the game rather easily for conquest and rewards (excluding glad mount).

Well, I can see you are one of the people that don’t play bg’s correctly lol you think your KD is what wins games.

More than you think. Probably a lot more. No way to prove it with numbers. Only Blizz knows but I was told random BGs have a gigantic players base. What that actually means relative to the game not sure.

The dampening changes for double dps 2s seems to hurt more than shuffle imo. You can’t play shuffle with a buddy wanting to queue with you but if you aren’t willing to play an 8 minute healer/dps 2s match then you’re severely handicapped queuing as any double dps other than rm

But solo is the worst mode for beginners, so don’t expect new players.

it’s alright. It’s easier to get into than 3’s (even tho 3’s is more balanced). At the end of the day, this is a 20 year old game with a very old playerbase; no matter what arena will be hard for beginners. I think even the game itself is hard for beginners. Shuffle is great for people who watch Pikaboo on Twitch and are willing to put some effort into learning the game. For the average mount collector? Not so much.

strictly because the devs do not care, there is no other reason than this. you can look at other aspects of WoW development and see there is 0 effort put into PVP

No, it’s very difficult. They don’t know their class at all, and now they have to play with 5 other classes that are constantly changing, they have 30 seconds to prepare for battle, this is very little, they don’t understand or remember anything.

Obviously you can’t read, because I wrote nothing of the sort.

What I wrote was that escorting a wagon to its destination and/or trying to develop special tactics to win the fight thanks to the objectives, despite being inferior combat-wise, has as much to do with PvP as a soccer match has to do with a boxing match. Nothing at all!

BGs simply don’t deserve to be called PvP because the major goal are the objectives like you already mentioned, not the fight between the players!

So nothing more than smoke and mirrors.

That’s why I said it’s a 20 year old game and that’s just arena in general.
