The true High Elf Solution

That does nothing to further why they should be added. I’m one of the ones that would simply have to deal with it. Because high elves while not a game killer, do rob something special from WoW and that’s the faction Divide that i love. So yea sure, get your Elves at all costs, i’m sure it’ll make you happy but it will make a lot of others unhappier with the state of the game.

And so we again circle back to the typical selfish attitude that permeates that community.

My friends and family already think Blizzards a joke so i wouldn’t need to tell them that. Just look at BFA, soon to have MechaGnomes instead of Sethrak. It;s like watching a blind man trying to find his way in a new room.

Indeed, both sides are quite selfish.

The Alliance wants High Elves and that would make them happy, while seeing their core race on the Horde leaves the Alliance players unhappy, and Void Elves are not doing it for Alliance players.

The Horde wants High Elves to not be playable, which would make them happy, but leave Alliance players very unhappy.

At this point, there’s no pleasing everyone. The Alliance wants to be able to play as the race of elves that are near ubiquitous in Alliance content across this game’s entire lifespan. The fact the Horde was given a variation of that race should not invalidate that request. High Elves have been, and continue to be a part of the Alliance. It’s perfectly logical for Alliance players to want to play them.

There are even some Horde players who think they’d be happy with High Elves being added because they feel it’d reduce the number of Blood Elves overwhelming the Horde.

I agree both sides are selfish but there is one constant that would simply remain true as it has the last 14 years. No playable High Elves. The Alliance has gone by this far without them they can survive it. Making them playable is just a risk that they don’t need to take is how i see it.

I argue Blood Elves are not a variant, they are the continuing storyline of the High Elves.

They’re continuing story of ONE group of High Elves … there are still non-Blood high elves in the game.

As for the “risk,” I say they DO need to take it. This expac is pure unadulterated crap … subs are dropping, guilds are folding … time to pull out the big guns and start giving players things they want.

Bliz’s response: Mechagnomes, gated flying, an extra ring of azerite gear, more bad storytelling

So then why would Blizzard create the Allied Race system and then ask players to tell them what they want, knowing High Elves have been requested for fourteen years straight? It seems they opened a can of worms on that one. Why does Blizzard continue to add High Elves to the Alliance content, especially now that Void Elves exist?

Leaving High Elves out is a risk that they don’t need to take is how I see it. Player satisfaction is at an all time low, and the population between the factions is not balanced. Either Blizzard does something to give the Alliance a population boost, such as implementing a long-time requested race that is guaranteed to be popular, or they risk a further decline in the faction balance.

Blood Elves are a variant of High Elves. High Elf is the race. The Blood Elves are the continuing story of Quel’Thalas.

Just wait till Zandalari trolls and Vulpera get added to Horde.

If anyone even remotely thinks Fat Humans and robot gnomes are going to fix the faction imbalance and that it’s not going to get worse when Zandatrolls and Fox people get added, they’re kidding themselves and sitting at a level of ignorance heretofore never seen.

No what needs happen is Blizzard should put in a Tyrande-type questline for the Alliance that gives their velves Alleria’s skin.

She’s the original velf. Why isn’t she all voidy and emo-y? She’s proof it’s possible to delve into the Void and to keep your white skin and blue eyes.

That’s not really a fix anymore sadly.

For one thing, Void Elves can’t be Paladins. High Elves can. For another, a lot of players interested in High Elves are hoping to see them made different from Blood Elves through certain class additions demonstrating that High Elves have grown closer to nature through their allies (Shamans and Druids).

High Elves would only satisfy the RPers, those that play for things other than standing around stormwind would still be faced with the glaring broken game it is atm. So High Elves wouldn’t fix anything. You know this.

Somehow I very much doubt this.

Especially if High Elves continue the trend of having excellent racials. Alliance Allied Races are coming with, typically, pretty great racials. We seen tons of Void Elves around, thanks to their racials, or thanks to them being the closest thing to High Elves available.

I imagine High Elves would drastically overtake Void Elves in numbers.

They further the story with allied races and allow and help them to tell new stories. They add High Elves to help with adding flavor to things. Do i think it’s dumb to do so in light of everything? Yes. Should just eliminate them all. Bringing High Elves in again is a risk, its worked so far not adding them. So the logical course of action would be to leave it be. Don’t fix whats not broken.

Fixing the faction imbalance is not solved by a simple skin. Many people say to do away with racials, to give free transfers to the Alliance.

Void Elves are not chosen because of racials, they are chosen because they look good. I’ve never seen anyone saying good things about their racial.

No more elves plz.

I’d say yes to this if they had purple voidy streaks on their body to clearly differentiate themselves as a new race.

So what you’re saying is, Void Elves are popular because of how they look, and you go on to say that no one except RP’ers would play High Elves, when we see that apparently looks is what matters to most?

No matter which side spouts this from either angle, I personally don’t think it would happen. That Blood Elves were added to the Horde to attract more players may be true… but I doubt there is now some huge percentage of Belf players that longingly feel ‘if only I could play my Belf on the Alliance’. I would love to have High Elves on the Alliance, but that does not mean I don’t like my Blood Elf characters or the Horde. Besides, my toon’s would not betray Quel’Thalas… their homeland they have sacrificed so much for.

I would agree. The Silver Covenant is the offshoot. Which to me is compelling. They felt so strongly against what was going on that they chose exile rather than capitulate.

I did not say nobody except rpers would play them. I said that High Elves would “fix” the game only for the RPers as they do little to nothing anyways in regards to the larger game as a whole. Please don’t try and portray what i said as a contradiction when its not.

Personally, I don’t think Bliz will ever add them.

They love trolling Alliance players … hell, they love openly mocking Alliance players. I think this is the workplace version of a meme for them. Every time they add a new High Elf NPC on the Alliance side, they likely laugh their neck beards off.

Please tell me you don’t sincerely believe this and are only using it convey your general disgust.

Me neither, personally. Most players have characters on both sides. If anything it might result in some players of Blood Elves feeling more comfortable going Alliance with a character similar to their main to play off and on to experience Alliance content with.

And what is, “doing little to nothing anyways in regards to the larger game as a whole?” I’m curious on this one. Despite High Elves having more screentime and in-game presence than some of the Alliance’s actually playable races, despite featuring predominantly in several patches and expansions, people seem to think they don’t add anything to the game.
