Finally got my wife to give WoW a go. We decided to level together, Im going heals (Monk) and shes playing Shadow Priest. She has been kicked from EVERY group we’ve tried to queue into. Dps too low, standing in bad, lagging behind, heck even because someone felt her spec wasn’t good enough. Ive also been kicked, for helping her find her way. This community really needs to figure it out. This game is terrible to new players and this behavior makes it so much worse. I wont be doing a single dungeon anymore as we level, you all lost a healer. Next time you complain about queue times, remember, a few of us are just sick of the abuse.
so teach her what she needs to know, and use follower dungeons as a learning tool.
Followers dungeons are terrible teachers. We tried them, its near impossible to die, and the XP seems reduced. But I suppose asking people to be decent is asking alot.
I understand what you’re saying, but if shes still this far away from figuring out her rotation and basic movement, follower dungeon sounds EXACTLY like what she needs.
Like how impressively bad do you have to be for anyone to even notice low dps in a leveling dungeon?
Is she just running up and meleeing everything as the priest?
With this crowd on the forums, yes it is.
Are you in a guild with your wife? Try to find a small or medium active social/leveling guild. Relying on the “niceness” of strangers is kind of a long shot in this day and age.
Having her run PuG dungeons is akin to throwing a child in a lake to teach him to tread water and swim.
Nah, shes top DPS on single target fights, the low DPS comes from being late to the fight usually. Or getting 1 shot by bad.
Does she just go afk constantly to be late to the fights?
Majority of dungeons are very linear and you can just follow the group otherwise
Also what even 1 shots at those dungeons lol
I feel like there’s an inconsistency in what you’re saying. I struggle to envision ANYONE being first on the meters throughout a dungeon consistently if they’re on the floor all the time.
Again follower dungeons really sound like the way for her - it will also take away any pressure she might be feeling to perform as a new player.
The barrier of entry for new players to this game is pretty high, and just continually increases. That new class tutorial and newbie island is an alright attempt, but it still could use some tweaks.
I can’t imagine what it’d be like to just pick up and start wow for the first time, like your wife is doing.
if youre not in a guild, THERE IS NO COMMUNITY in this game…lol.
They scream at newbs for making mistakes INSTEAD of helping them, lmao.
and they wonder why no one wants to play with them and we want more SOLO content lol
hahahaa, no.
They aren’t kicking her because she’s new.
Dragonflight dungeons are NOT linear lmao. Hell, how is a first time player supposed to figure out these mazes? Never mind the one you have to FLY through. Its insanity. We are gonna drop DF leveling and try the classic dungeons I think.
I’m not sure I’ve believed anything less on these forums tbh. The story doesn’t line up at all
if youre not in a guild, THERE IS NO COMMUNITY in this game…lol.
I know we disagree on most things
but this is spot on
community in this game is NOT found in the overall playerbase, it’s found in smaller groups of people - guilds.
Well the only “problematic” one in DF would be that centaur one
Just enable fly along and let your wife just ride along with you so she can see how the dungeon works and feel more comfortable doing it flying herself later
Like I don’t want to say you’re not doing much to help her, but this story doesn’t add up to me
Im not sure what “Fly along” is? 2 seater mount? I dont have one…
We are gonna drop DF leveling and try the classic dungeons I think.
You’ll be better off grouping in classic retail dungeons than ones closer to current content most of the time. I mean, the jerkytrolls do come down into those old runs too, but its not usually as frequent that theyre in there causing total chaos.
Plus the mechanix arent so laughably kiddie circus show like later on, so you can learn your spec without having to be a flippin acrobat quite as much
