They’ve done it way more often than that when you consider specs that didn’t get desperately needed work because Blizzard put in new classes instead to satisfy the marketing department’s demands.
They should have a range dps spec, healing, and tank, no melee dps
Yeah. It’s completely unique, They don’t dress like existing classes, they don’t act like existing classes, they don’t have resources like existing classes.
They don’t use abilities from any existing class.
It’s almost like the Assets for Tinker already exist
Blizzard already stated no new classes/races for a while
Tinker/Bard and Necromancer ideas constantly being floated sound bad,
If anything, make the hunter/shaman class have a tank spec with mail
Welcome back! I missed the Tinker posts.
Thank goodness.
That should still happen independently of Tinker.
Tinker should have been in 8.2, and not adding it then was a huge missed opportunity for Blizz.
The belief that adding new classes will harm existing class design/balance is just specious reasoning that contradicts the evidence. People continually hold up MoP class design as outstanding, yet it was an expansion that added a class. Legion is generally well thought of for its class design (even if you didn’t like AP) and it added a new class. On the flip side, BFA class design is continually the target of scorn and no classes were added.
In conclusion, I’ll gladly take another new class to play around with- especially over improved class/design and balance that I probably won’t actually get.
I assume you got a source on that bombshell, good buddy?
Or do you just mean none for Shadowlands? Because you’ll notice the number in the thread title is one more than 9.
Not adding them was a rare moment of wisdom on Blizzard’s part for finally realizing they were already in over their heads when it came to class design.
Since we’re in Shadowlands, haha maybe we can go back in time and fix that.
I agree, A New class that have every role except Melee DPS would be VERY Unique. There’s still plenty of room for unique Healers and Tanks too.
Hi Clockworth! I missed seeing your dapper face.
Blizzard also said the Giant cannon in Bilgewater Harbor would fire before the End of BFA.
It wasn’t outstanding for everyone. In fact it’s an excellent example.
Here’s the history of tanking design in WoW:
- Originally, there were just Warriors.
- In BC, Blizzard brought Druids & Paladins up to snuff.
NOTE: Tanking was VERY different back then. Instead of attacking to generate resources for defense, you got hit and that generated resources to attack.
- In Wrath, Blizzard added DK’s in all 3 flavors.
- In Cata, Blizzard consolidated DK tanking into Blood, and really liked the new “active mitigation” model which flipped tanking upside down.
- Blizzard re-designed Paladin tanks to bring them better in line with active mitigation design.
- Blizzard re-designed Warrior tanks to bring them better in line with active mitigation design.
And 8. Blizzard added Monks.
Wait a second… where’s step 7?
That’s right. The Druid re-design. Which never happened.
Blizzard tried making Druids a “dodge tank” instead, in a cheap and half-heareted effort which was a garbage design that didn’t work. They tried saving it in Mists by slapping a 20% damage reduction on it but even that was useless so they had to go back to the drawing board in Legion. Problem is, they then threw out the Legion design.
Guardian is still sitting as a boring and undeveloped spec to this day. They prop it up with overtuned math and overpowered items like the Ursoc’s legendary, but the spec sucks.
Why does it suck?
Because they took what should have been its redesign (in line with what happened to the other tanks) and made Monks instead.
They scrapped the Idea of Bear Druids being Dodge tanks because that is nonsense.
A Druidic bear with incredible restorative powers shouldn’t be dodging attacks left and right, They should be an immovable object that regenerates super hard.
It makes more sense that Monks tank by dodging attacks.
That’s why they dropped the Idea from Druid… Because it didn’t fit the class.
They scrapped it because being an RNG tank doesn’t work.
Blizzard seriously missed the opportunity to introduce Tinkers (Tinkerers? ) with Mechagon
Same way they missed the opportunity for necromancers with Shadowlands
Bogus.
I main a Monk tank.
They focus on Dodge but it isn’t pure RNG.
The Elusive Brawler passive assures the Odds are always in your favor.
Previously, Passives like Brew-Stache would drive your dodge into the roof.
And they don’t just dodge, they mitigate through purification, Damage resistance, and Absorb Shields.
10.0 would be a perfect time to also add Leper Gnomes to the Horde. Gnome/Mechagnome Tinkers make a massive push to retake Gnomergan. Leper Gnomes escape through a teleporter with the help from Ganoosh. The Forsaken help stablize the Leper Gnomes.
Leper Gnome and Goblin Tinkers work together to rescue Undermine.
Goblins R00L. Gnomes Dr00L
You don’t even understand the timeline, dodge Savage Defense was added in Mists.
You play a Monk tank. Great. You have zero understanding of the history of bear tanking.
