Right Before the release of Shadowlands, I unfortunately had to Leave due to financial reasons. However things in my Life have stabilized and I’m back, and better than ever!)
Onto the post!
With the Content drought we’re all suffering through right now, I’ve seen many posts looking forward to a potential 10.0. And a lot of these threads hold the same key desires.
A Bigger focus on Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms
Less cosmic scale, and a bigger focus on the “World” of “Warcraft”
Abandoning the overabundant borrowed power systems
A New Class / Classes.
There have been several interesting suggestions for New classes across several different Threads recently, So I just wanted to put down my 2 cents on what I want the new class to be!
THE TINKER
(Or Combat Engineer, Technician, Mechanic, ETC. The Tinker is more than just a fan concept for a Class, It is a class deeply rooted in WoW’s history.
Much like Monks, Demon Hunters, and Death Knights. Tinkers were a Hero Unit from Warcraft 3, that could easily be turned into a New Class for World of Warcraft.
In Fact, Every Class in World of Warcraft takes at least a few key abilities from Warcraft 3 as inspiration. No Exceptions!
But Tinkers go Further than that. They’ve been present in Every single expansion!
With Everybody playing Burning Crusade at the moment, I don’t think I have to point out the genius Engineers in Netherstorm, Mekginner Steamrigger in the Steamvault, Or Mechano-Lord Capacitus in the Mechanaar!
And Best of All!
They could wear Mail Armor
They could Provide a new Omni-Role class, Like Monk, Druid, or Paladin.
They could Provide a new Ranged specialization, using guns, mines, bombs, and turrets.
They could Bring new Tanks and Healers to WoW, Which are always high demand.
They could have a Unique appeal and aesthetic to other classes.
Goblins would finally have a Class that can Fulfill all 3 Roles

People Request a new Ranged DPS, Tinker has it.
The could also Heal with Ranged Weapons, Which would be very unique!
Obviously they’d be able to Tank in some sort of Mech or Mechano tank.
(They could Cheat like Druid, and have the mech function like a Shape-shift, allowing Tinkers to use a ranged weapon for all 3 specs)

Yes, the Game is unbalanced.
Did you play Vanilla WoW? The game was unbalanced when it came out too.
And you know what? It’s been a mess ever since.
So we need to go back and retroactively remove DK and DH and Monk?
Class balance has never and will never be perfect, or even good.
Unless we change classes to Hurt, Heal and Tank with 1 button each.
They overlapped with Arms and Ret in functionality, imo, with a touch of Fury.
Why do they have to take something away from another class?
I don’t get this line of thinking. They have plenty to pull from the RTS and even HotS along with some NPCs already in game.

Reload mechanic - After firing 6 shots they cast Reload to restore resources.
It’s perfect. It could be a double resource system. Ammo and Scraps. Fire Ammo with specials, non-ammo attacks give Scraps. Convert Scraps to Ammo to fire more Specials.
Done and done.

Or give that to Survival and make them stop being a silly meme melee spec.
There are more than enough neglected and abandoned specs already in the game. Adding a new class considering the appalling state of Survival, or Enhance, or Arcane, or Feral, is madness.
I Imagine, Hypothetically, that Tinkers would use a charge system similar to what Brewmaster had during it’s legion Revamp.
i.e. Several Damaging abilities that all have a shared cooldown and multiple charges, promoting you using the right tool for the job.
Flamethrower turrets for AoE, Rocket Turrets for Single Target.
Or, perhaps they could use different Ammo types, that mimic the various different Auto Attack buffs from Warcraft 3. (Frost Arrows, Searing Arrows, ETC.)
Or Perhaps they could juggle a resource that constantly needs to be refilled. call it “Scrap”. Like a Warriors rage for example.
Now we’re taking a hypothetical resource away from a class not in game to give to another?
Why are you so fixated on taking things away from classes?
They did it one time with Warlocks and DH.
It’s basically a modified Rune/Runic Power system, but don’t tell him that!
