The time gate of pathfinder needs to go

I’m not saying I think it’s a good idea. I’m just trying to explain why it exists the way it does.

Fair enough

Listen, we here at McDonalds know you guys like hamburgers, but here’s a hot dog because it’s still basically meat in a bun. This is a compromise with our paying customers and you will like it otherwise you’re just entitled.

the whole ‘it ruins immersion!’ angle… which makes me laugh, since i outright lack the ability to get immersed through a computer screen

Not to mention how immersion breaking it is to mount on a winged dragon only for it to flop around on the ground.

I don’t get “immersed” through trying to find a path around a mountain, I do that through fighting dudes out in the world and doing the story and quests, which I can still very much do with flying.

If you couldn’t be “immersed” in the world and story with flying, I wouldn’t be playing or enjoying this game at all ever. Because story is like one of the most important things in WoW for me, it’s one of my biggest reasons for playing the game and why I refuse to quit even though I can’t enjoy the game anymore without flying. It’s what keeps me around.

There are players that are happy with no flying. You see them all over this forum. They wish flying was never enabled, that Blizzard had stuck to their guns in WoD and never caved.

So you can’t say that 100% of the market want flying enabled shortly after launch. Many, perhaps most, do but NOT ALL.

A better example is burgers. Some people like veggie burgers and hate meat burgers. Other people like meat burgers and hate veggie burgers. Blizzard can only make one type of burger at a time. So they make veggie burgers for half the year and meat burgers the other half. Everyone needs to eat though so we all are unhappy about the period of time we are being served the thing we don’t like. Everyone unhappy is the best definition of compromise there is.

If people like no flying they can still use their ground mounts. They’re just so selfish because they say they can’t have fun unless everyone plays their way.

It’s like paying 11.99$ for a hamburger and then some coke, and then wondering why the meat is all cold and half frozen and the people tell you that you’re gonna get what you want. But it takes 45 minutes for them to serve it and you see them picking their nose in the background and dropping the ingredients all over the floor. After which, they tell you that you actually ordered a Mc’Dumpster instead, and serve you a completely different menu item than the one they advertised 5 weeks later when you’ve completely forgotten about it.

It’s more like they’re always serving veggie burgers (no flight, because people can just use ground mounts), but they only serve meat burgers after a whole year the expansion has been out. People who enjoy veggie burgers can enjoy them year round, people who like meat burgers can only enjoy them for half of the expansion. And then while those same people are enjoying their veggie burgers year round, they’re telling people “just eat and enjoy the veggie burgers, stop being so entitled to these meat burgers you were always given as paying customers before and now are being taken away for half of the expansion for seemingly no reason at all”.

Overall it’s just been one really bad BBQ. The best BBQs are the ones where they serve veggie AND meat burgers so everyone has the option to eat what they enjoy.

“Lisa you won’t make friends with salad”

But yeah i think this is like the first year i’ve ever seen a dev team seem to be deliberately antagonistic and/or uncaring about their own audience. Like rip off games on steam like WarZ (DayZ ripoff), when a game starts having it’s game makers leaving bad reviews of the players for leaving a bad review on metacritic and giving though “Oh, you just don’t understand the complexities of our 1.3 star 39 metacritic score panned game. you ungrateful masses can’t understand how great it is!” , that’s when a game is going downhill. I want to see them at least seem to care or at least go through some motions of caring about their own games.

I have never met one casual incapable of doing heroic, this would give a huge portion of the playerbase a tangible incentive to improve. Everyone wins

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Blizzard employee get actually full on booed at Blizzcon (which are Blizzard fans who paid hundreds of dollars to be there) about an issue, and just straight up double down and be like “this is fine, this is still what we’re going to do”. Even the guy who said “you think you do, but you don’t” wasn’t even booed when he said that.

lol, there are plenty, get off the high horse and actually look at who plays the game.

Look I’m all for increasing participation in normal and heroic raiding. I raided heroic all through Legion but this is definitely NOT the way to do it.

I think six months of ground travel would be enough.

200% speed no mob aggro ground mounts would at least be tolerable.

If flying showcases THAT glaring of a hole in content is it really worth $40-80? I’d argue that’s a clear case of negligence on Blizzards part in how they failed a core aspect of the game. How hard would it be to add anti-air guns or mobs that are drawn to flying creatures? They could even try allowing people to cast spells/abilities while flying with the same risk of being dismounted upon taking X damage. MANY approached they could take but instead the lazy excuse of “It’s this or the highway” is what we’re given. Not attacking you personally btw

Wait… what if… they gave mounts that moved FASTER than flying on the ground, like 400% speed ground mounts!? It’d be like riding 150 mph in a car, and we’d still use the roads, that sounds like fun!
