The time gate of pathfinder needs to go

This wasn’t a problem when we had flying right at max level. Why is it a problem now?

It’s not inconsistent.

“Fully explore” and “thoroughly and completely” to Blizzard means half way through the expac.

Because the current shot callers at wow, hate it…
If i was a betting pally. They wanted to get rid of flying in WoD so the can make zones more like Antorus…which was an Instance zoning…
Less work for the team to put together

We’ve already “thoroughly and completely fully explored” the world and content well before 6 months to a year, which is how long the time gate is. Most people have already completed the Pathfinder part 1 achievement before that.

Why not let people fly after they have completed the requirements for the achievement? Why have a time gate on top of that? Can you explain why a time gate is needed? Since apparently Blizzard cannot.

I suppose “fully explore” sounds better than “gated until we feel like it”. Everything they’ve said regarding pathfinder is full of holes just because Ion hates flying.

I swear to freaking god this has to always be the stupidest argument ever, even when people still try and aruge against OP’s post. First off, you can get part one in 1 month then unsub to your hearts content. Second off, part 2 is super easy to get in the first place, so stop complaining about it. I swear its always the argument of well they only do it to keep subs up, blah blah blah. You do realize that they need subs in order to keep the game going, which you obviously seem to enjoy to a degree. Oh and you only have to grind it once, and its even a freaking passive grind.

The only non passive grind currently is the ranks for heart of azeroth which you do have to put effort into. Then the reaosn why they give us flying so late is due to the fact that flying only expidtes the process for things. Flying is a convience factor, not a requiremnt which people need to understand. It only makes doing quests and WQ’s that much quicker as you don’t have to ground mount around to them. So please stop complaing about patfinder, and if its so game breaking to you to have to put some damn effort into getting it, then bye Felicia.

I don’t have an issue with it being time gated behind how much reputation you can earn a day, I just don’t think it should take a year to be released. Delaying it for the first couple of months is more than enough for us to engage in all the meaningful ground content an expansion has. After that Pathfinder should open up, waiting a year is a little silly. By that point all the open world content has been trivial for months.

Hmm… seems like if they need subs in order to keep the game going, telling people to unsub until flying is finally available because of the time gate is a bad plan. Why not just make it available after people have completed the achievement and no unsubbing and waiting around?

Here’s the thing…Wrath and BC i had flying within about 80-120 hours or sonof gameplay. MoP i had it as soon as I hit 90. The reason personally why I think it has to be gated, is because world content on WoD, Legion and BFA is straight terrible. So they have to arbitrarily force us to stay grounded vs making content that’s fun, and easy to navigate…no I don’t want to go halfway atound a zone to get up a cliff to do a WQ ive already seen 50+ times.

I literally said that to satisfy the people who complain about unsubbing over pathfinder. Honestly though I feel like as if the people who unsub over it more than likely simply do not have the time sink for the game itself. Which is a personal issue and not a game issue. So they then in turn come to here and complain about it and do the whole unsub threat becuase they think they’ll be able to get it sooner for their convience factor. When in reality their the minority of the player base and really will not affect much in the long term. Please don’t take things out of it’s intended context to try and make an argument.

I have time for the game itself, it’s just not enjoyable at all for me without flight. I have tried to enjoy the game without flight for 2-3 expansions now, I just can’t unfortunately. I’ll not play until flight is finally available because the game just isn’t enjoyable at all for me without it. I’m more likely to subscribe for longer and play the game longer if flight was available from the get go after I complete Pathfinder part 1. I’ve spent infinitely longer enjoying this game with flight in previous expansions than I’ve spent not enjoying this game without flight.

We’ve gone over this song and dance before…the subscriber numbers and analytics don’t lie…

This isn’t about pathfinder. It’s about the time gate. Flying is important to a lot of people’s enjoyment of the game. It is a loved feature that didn’t used to be gated. People still being upset about it tells you how much people still care about flying.

this is my response more or less as well. ive done the same thing since WoD: get a char to max, play through it once, get the main reps to revered, then drop sub until flying added. i dont like running a mouse maze of terrain over and over, and once ive done it, i don’t want to REdo it at the expense of my time. i’d rather speed things up so i can get my alts to endgame and work on that aspect of things. as long as flying is time gated, i’ll continue the ‘get one char to max, do pathfinder 1, unsub, resub once i can get flying’ pattern.

Because some players (you see them on this forum) + Blizzard designers would rather the world have no flying ever because they believe it makes the world more engaging. What Ion said in that 6.2 article you posted earlier is how he sees it. Flying trivializes content and Blizzard wants to have a period in each expac before the content is trivialized.

It’s their game. That’s all the reason there needs to be.

I’m mostly the same way…before flying log in do story content…gear for raid, only log on for raid. After flying go absolutley nuts on alts.

I could get on board with this. have it all out at the same time. Even increase the rep reqs and work that needs to be done, but have it all out at the beginning.

There’s no good ways to make money outside of merching, old raids, or herbalism/gathering profs and gathering profs surprise surprise, get 300% faster with flying and get to skip mobs.

Cool it’s their game…but it’s a far cry to the peak 13 million subscribers they uses to be able to get. I’d be surpised if it was even 2 million currently.

Lol we cant even have a “Pathfinder is fine but for this caveat” thread without the compromise meme being posted.

WoW is a product to be consumed by its target market. Not a work of art. The target market wants to fly. Any other business would give its market what they want. If they started putting arsenic in Coke, and people said “no I dont want that”, it would be insane to propose a “compromise” of a non-lethal dose of arsenic.
