Do you have any interest in speaking further about the topic?
I asked you a question, didnât I?
Ok, so I guess thatâs a âno.â I hope you have a great weekend.
âI make broad generalizations and when I canât back them up and someone calls me out on it, Iâm done because obviously I canât argue further.â
Whatever helps you sleep at night, bub. Have a great weekend. Be safe.
I was just going to read this thread and catch up, but lmao.
The sheer, bullish amount of strawmanning here is insane.
I want to level and have some reasonable, challenging PvP content without feeling like I have to pause and gear myself up to an obsessive degree, personally. Itâs nice that twink players feel like they can paint every normal player with the same brush.
Weâre talking about what you say it is you enjoy, the unbalanced not when both teams are well-balanced.
Like your approval of â⌠there you are, invisible, coming up on that turtle on the Efc, what do you do? Oh you do what any reasonable person does, you drop 3 cones of cold in about 3-4 seconds and everybody on that turtle is dead.
You smell that? Thatâs an entire team, deceased, riperino, spirit healer business booming.â
And your own example:
âThere was a video clip of a shaman blasting an entire invasion force off the lifts in Thunder Bluff. That must have been memorable for everybody involved and even for me, who took no part in it. You know what wasnât memorable? That battle where everybody played equally and one team only just barely beat the other because they were both so well-balanced.â
Assuming, just for sake of your analogy, that youâre consistent.
Iâm sure joining matches with players below your level are much more fun, seeing novices fall for a foolâs mate, winning short games and such. Because playing others at or above your rating takes too long and is just tedious.
The chess analogy was a non-sequitur. It compares to going into the beginner session of a MMA class while 30 years old and telling the other students who are ~12 âyou guys are bringing a knife to a gun fight!â when itâs really him bringing a machine gun to a water balloon fight.
The irony about you saying Iâm strawmanning is pretty funny. Also, thanks for leaving out the part where I mentioned how twinks (and players who donât twink, but arenât completely biased against them) have mentioned multiple alternative fixes to low level pvp without kicking an entire playerbase out of random BGs.
Go join some low level BGs and get 2 shot by OP classes who arenât twinks.
Thanks for being a prime example of someone who is simply against twinks because they are twinks.
Unfortunately, that only fixes 1 aspect of it, not all of them. Blizzard did the right thing because it fixed all aspects.
I donât know his age, and I donât care because the stereotypes donât actually hold up in real life (age =/= wisdom nor does youth = foolishness, genXers, boomers, and millennials each have their good bad and ugly, smart dumb and lazy et al.) but he really is representing the stereotypical bad rap for millennials in this thread.
And doing no favors for his fellow twinks (assuming he is actually part of that community and not just trolling). Iâve always said that the only thing worse than having to argue against a genius it to have an idiot on your side.
Funny you should say that. Iâve had a lot of discussions on xpoff and itâs a known fact there that most (not all) twink supporters on the official forums are a complete embarrassment to their community. So much to the point where itâs a meme to many.
They have mentioned alternative fixes.
So have I.
So have a lot of the âanti twink menaceâ you talk about, who âsimply want it removedâ.
Donât try and pretend youâre some voice of reason. A lot of us are somewhere in the middle, and would love it if twinks had their own place to be. The unfortunate reality is, there simply arenât enough twinks, anymore, to fill each individual bracket.
I donât care about balance. I just want to be able to kill the flag carrier while everyone else is sitting mid. If that player is a twink, I need to be a twink. If I like a bracket, I want to be able to turn XP off. If XP is off and I get stuck in a queue that doesnât exist, I am just wasting my time, right? My gearing is in response to a demand, which is how PvP in WoW has always worked until they decided to change things.
Which contender at a chess championship wouldnât wish that his/her opponent was easy? Find me one person not even including chess who wouldnât wish their opponents were unqualified to be there and Iâll find you a liar. The difference is that weâre not engaging in activities that include clubbing skatersâ kneecaps. Itâs a game â something everybody has equal chance of winning should they choose to fulfill the criteria for possible victory.
Iâm not saying that there arenât people farming graveyards. I find that activity unproductive and even sometimes causes game losses, but again, depending on the patch, these sorts of anomalies happen in max-level PvP as in any.
It funny how you say you need to twink to fight twinks, how about we remove the twinks and you can fight normal players. It doesnât matter how much lipstick you put on a pig it is still a pig. What I see is a lot of players failing to understand what PVP is. It is not the feeling of killing someone based on the fact that you out gear them, but to win a fight based off of your skill. The fact is you have PVP for years and know what to do, Map and how to win gives you a higher skill set then normal players yet you resort to cheap tricks to win. What I would like to see happen PVP turn in to something like LOL pr HOS where you donât have anything when you get in the bg and killing helps you by stuff per match. Dynamic PVP.
â not if my XP-off bracket never pops. I mentioned that already.
donât even know why you need to turn exp off why not just level to 120 and play the game?
Then you shouldnât have implied that you do.
You find totally unbalanced scenarios to be memorable and well-balanced battles not to be memorable.
Your words, not mine.
Not everyone has your attitude, everybody likes to win but a lot of people prefer a challenge, even if itâs a loss, to a walkover. Grantee this in chess where I believe it is actually the majority, and have seen many after fun PUG Epic BGs comment on how much fun even a long hard fought loss was, and how much they miss old AV. If you want to see a guaranteed win each time, current PvE is for you.
I understand twinks who want to individualize there character like they could in Vanilla but canât since way back when the talents tree was replaced, and although I think the whole âAzurite traitsâ on equipment is, at least in part, an attempt to offer individualization again, currently the only real non-cosmetic method is twink gearing/optimizing. I still think the separate queue is a good idea, and I still donât know what portion of the community is attempting individualization for its own sake, and how many are simply after a free no-talent win like you seem to be.
Being up against twinked characters stinksâŚ
Having twinked characters on your team stinks, who wants a fight you canât lose?
If this change will be hard on the twink queue or negatively impact the community I feel for ya but Iâm not sure what else there is to do. Itâs really unfair for newer players to be thrown into a PVP environment where someone their level can effectively one-shot them or just 3v1 and flag cap w/out a care.
All ears if thereâs a solution and Stat Templates sound promising but then whatâs the point of twinking at all?
Eh, its a MMO, im all for people doing their own things even if I find it weird or disadvantageous, like doing the Iron Man Leveling Challenge. However, in this case, it was a side activity that directly involved others, willingly or otherwise. An entire aspect of leveling should not be lorded over or used as hunting grounds by a handful of people. Now they have been given their own playing field they can do whatever they want inside of. I am more surprised they dont take the chance to strengthen their community and really take advantage of full Twink PvP.
