… How is this even remotely related to the speed of leveling?
The leveling nerf felt unsatisfying for reasons more than just having enough gear to cleave mobs in half. I’ve tried gearing with borderline-twinked alts, in fact, half my alts get that treatment: it’s not the solitary thing that makes leveling them fun!
I don’t even know why you’d bring it up, but frankly I found leveling to be the most dreadful thing imaginable by how brainless it used to be. Giving your character a bunch of enchants only exacerbated that feeling. Twinking feels the same way to me. It’s like smashing a bunch of defenseless NPCs in Dynasty Warriors or something.
Let’s take that a step farther. Let’s implement a gear score requirement, you know like they do for LFR & dungeons & lots of other pve stuff. Let’s put the top geared people together & the not so geared people together for each bracket. We’ll name it the “winning” bracket for the geared people & the “I don’t care” bracket for the non-geared. This way the people that are just passing through can continue on & the people that like to twink & the people that appreciate twinks can still get grouped together.
Go PvP against other twinks and quit whining that you can’t curb stomp people who are just leveling and trying to break up the monotony with a bg here and there.
Ok, so here. You prove my point. Some of you complaining about twinks literally do not care whether you win or lose & that is ok! You do you. But to expect everyone else to do you too is wrong. I do not want to do you, I want to do me!
There really is no right or wrong way to play this game. To come onto the forums & say the twinks are playing wrong is, in & of itself, wrong! Well, there is Ion’s way to play but I won’t go into that. I don’t know what the answer is to make everyone happy. I do think what Blizz has recently done to the Twink community is not the right answer either. Segregating Twinks from the general population is going end badly.
Right or wrong really has never been the point. Twinks play by a different set of rules and that is why they are in their own queue. It’s not that complicated.
Works for me. Everyone else like the idea of two brackets, a ’Normal Bracket’ for only xp on and an ’Epic Bracket’ (names can be changed) for xp off and others who opt in, no reward differences?
Twinks are able to gear up, at their leisure, with a frozen XP bar. Normal players are not.
That’s the only difference, honestly, but it can be considerable in certain brackets. The Burning Crusade brackets, in particular, can be super rough for someone who hasn’t got themselves a full set of gear with gem slots - the BC gear was never meant to have epic Wrath gems in every slot.
They could set it up something like they do the island expo tables where you could pick your level. But for the xp off people the lower, normal group would be greyed out. All the xp on people could chose any of them: normal, heroic, or mythic (ie. 40man)
If Blizzard says it’s ok to enchant what ever with certain enchants, then it is OK. With the recent stat nerf, I don’t think enchanting stuff is as big a deal as it once was. Looking over my old enchants, I don’t see any that stand out as game changers. But, I could easily be proven wrong on this. Do you have the names of certain enchants twinks are using to gain an unfair advantage? That would be something Blizzard could easily change instead of segregating all the twinks.
It’s still clearly a problem that needs addressing, if everything was ‘intended’ as it was then there would never be any changes; like separating xp off and xp on bg queues.
I think we’ve found one of the major problems in this debate - certain people complaining about twinks have no idea what twinks actually are and immediately cry foul when they lose to someone who put even the most basic effort into gearing their character properly.
