There were new ppl to CoH a month before they shut the server down… I mean if you’re a blizz employee and you got the stats right in front of you, then cool, but if youre some rando just talking out of your butt then lol
There are always some new players, but there are also things that discourage those who try the free low levels to see if the game is worth actually paying for. This tread is about one of the many things that help a lot of them decide that the answer is no.
Sure there are some players who blame every loss in any BG on “omfg twinks”, they exist but are a minority.
And there are twinks who make a habit of rude emotes and camping all day without any interest in BG objectives. They’re also a minority but they also do exist.
And there are both twinks and levelers who only care about win/loss.
But what most actual new players care about is if the game (and to many the PvP part of the game) is fun. Winning or losing, as an observer rather than as an actual contributor, is not fun.
Under normal circumstances, an alternate playstyle would only have to prove ’why not?’ as justification for why it should exist once it already does. Case in point, LFR, Pet Battles, Mythic+.
However, that’s for play-styles that affect nobody but themselves. Given how much twinks are hated by the non-twinking community and how it only takes one to make a battleground miserable for everyone on the opposing side, I argue that they should have to prove the opposite: ’Why so?’
In short, given how miserable their presence makes their given brackets, they should have to prove why they are needed.
So Twink Supporters, why do twinks deserve to exist?
You queue for a bg with the only goal to roflstomp the other team in order to WIN what ever objective the bg offers. But YOU want your team to NOT get good gear & not learn how to play their toons well & then still expect your side to some how pull off a win against your opponent. But you don’t want to stop there, you want your opponent to be equally undergeared & inexperienced so you can play them on “equal” footing.
So we’ve gone from “may the best man win” to “may the worse man win”. Bg’s are competition. You are competing in there to win the bg. You people act like it is a cardinal sin to want other people, who enjoy competition, to be the best they can be in any given situation.
All you people against twinks obvsiously do not like being around achievers & winners. This bg the twink could be on my team = yay-ness! Next bg the twink is on the opposing team = blah, but not the end of the world. The next bg the twink could be on my team again or maybe both teams have twinks. I personally like to win. And I have been lazy & did not want to spend the time & effort to make a twink, which isn’t an easy feat. I researched at one time what I needed to do & said… ok maybe later. Later never came. But to say I don’t want these people on my team is like saying I don’t ever want to take a bath again. Yes, I could live without it, but it surely would be a stinky situation.
Incorrect, that’s twinks that want to roflstomp the other team in order to win what ever objective the BG offers. I want to be able to have a chance vs other players to beat them in Player vs Player combat and have fun in battlegrounds. Win or lose, if it’s fun I don’t really care. That’s the entire point of a game, just an fyi.
I don’t want either team to be in twink gear, I want them to be in average leveling gear instead of twinking and making it so only other twinks can compete; instead I want the average geared player like myself to be able to have fun in battlegrounds and actually have fun opposed to now where I get into a fight with a twink and just have to sigh because there’s literally NOTHING I can do to beat them.
Twinks is about “May the best geared player win” Instead of “May the best player win.” where gear is of a lesser consequence and isn’t the be all, end all. More evidence of this is just another BG I did where Surprise! Faced multiple horde twinks and got GY Camped. Neither of those twinks died the entire match, btw.
It’s not fun to win a BG doing nothing, and it’s not fun losing a BG being unable to do anything either. My objective is for average leveling gear to be on more equal terms to twink gear or push twink gear and enchants into their own queue like xp-off is now. That way you face people of near-equal gear and you actually have a chance to win. You can participate. You don’t get told ‘lel turn off your xp, spend all this gold; grind better gear then come back’ in a LEVELING bg.
There is the key. The player is making an effort to win by playing their toon to the best of their ability & has attained the knowledge of what to do/not do in certain bg’s. Godly gear does not make a godly player. I never claimed it did. Twinks do it all. They get the gear, they learn how to play their toon to the best of their ability, & they know & understand the mechanics of the bg’s they queue for.
They already made that effort through questing and doing dungeons, I want it to be skill vs skill. Pretty simple stuff. Twinking their character for any bracket should not be expected.
Actually, it could be the end or at least a pause in someone’s ability to enjoy a bg.
A new player might go into a BG and get stomped so hard that they lose interest. This has happened to numerous individuals. It even happened to myself in the 110-120 queue with a certain herd of boomkins.
No, new players cannot earn the same gear as a veteran player.
And no, they should not be expected to buy a token to do so.
I think you’re confused.
This is what twinks want.
Normal players want a fair fight.
If 95% of players are levelers who come in with leveling gear, that is what the norm facilitates.
Exactly.
Twinks are like putting a 250lb kid against a 100lb kid in a wrestling match.
We don’t do that in real life because it isn’t a valid competition.
The same in this scenario.
oh how I love how people who primarily twink justify that they “love pvp”. even if that is true, you are the minority.
you make a character extraordinarily more powerful than the average player at that level, and you roflstomp them. that is the fun. do not even try to say otherwise…
objectives? lol!
hks? yes plz!
it’s been that way since vanilla and the twink hunter/rogues.
you will get zero sympathy, and it’s well deserved. there is little to no skill in low level pvp… it’s not balanced at all (same at max lvl tho wtf blizz) … it’s farm farm farm for a drop that probably should be nerfed for its intended level…
tldr twinks and twink gameplay should die, or have their own exclusive bracket.
And every competition has rules. Twinks play by their rules in their own queue, levelers play by their rules in their own queue. You rationalize all you want, but that’s the reality.
I’m just to the point I’m having to leave BGs because there’s so many xp-on people twinking their characters and 1 shotting me before I can even do anything. Just back to how it was before since they found a new way to abuse things honestly. The only solution now is to either do templates for low level bgs, push people with strong enchants and that outgear the average to their own queues, or completely rework low level stuff to not be able to be twinked at all.
You don’t want to win? Really? A win is a win, close only counts in hand grenades & horseshoes. If you want to test your ability one on one with someone, go challenge someone to a duel. It literally doesn’t matter if you win 100-0 or 100-99, the 100 won! The 100 was better than you at that point in time. If you people really do not care about winning, then I say let’s put YOU in your own bracket & give the twinks to those of us who do care about winning. You can have your own special “I don’t care” bracket.
Actually we all still play by Blizzard rules. The rules of engagement for each bg hasn’t changed. Bliz just attempted to segregate the good players from the meh players. I am a meh player. I will miss the good players.
This sounds like a good solution to me. How about Blizzard creates two brackets. In the standard bracket, players only face those with XP on, in bracket B, anything goes. Let people opt into facing twinks if they want. I’m sure that if they’re so beloved, they’ll see tons of people who want to opt in
But the ENTIRE POINT of having a twink was that you worked for the gear and could smash others at your level.
Making this change is akin to saying “Let’s have individual iLVL brackets for higher level players”, which would solve the issue in that my 413 DK would smash your 390 anything into oblivion, but if they put say 10 iLVL brackets it would do nothing but force me to never PVP since having the higher gear means absolutely jack in the long run.
