how can anyone not use an addon that cheats for them. yeah who could fathom such a person.

If you are playing this game without any addons, good on you. If you are using addons, you are being hypocritical and need to grow up. It has been explained multiple times to you how Spy works using existing combat log info, yet you seem to think this is cheating. Again, grow up. If you are not using Spy on a PVP server, I highly recommend that you do. I will admit tho that if I get an alert for a stealthy, it reminds me to make sure that I am ready (as much as I can be) for a stealthed opener. It doesnât negate the advantage of stealthies, it just reminds me to be prepared. The KoS List built into the tool is worth it all by itself, IMO.

Good thing the spy addon doesnt tell you where or how close the stealth player is? And again. like everyone else is stating, it only announces stealth when you CAST stealth in range of the player.
Kinda like how the combat log announces when an enemy goes stealth near the player.

I like the addon, specifically because of the KOS list, but the stealth warning does seem a little too convenient. When I am on my hunter and I get the stealth warning, I immediately pop my flare. I honestly would not be as diligent in watching the combat logs to pick up on this otherwise.
That being said, so long as the addon is permitted, I will be using it.

and that âa little too convenientâ makes a big difference for a class whoâs main ability is stealth and the element of the initial burst of damage that comes from engaging first, since our most damaging abilities require it.
Does Spy also allow people to target you past an instance portal? Back when I was doing BRD runs, with a ton of horde camping the entrance had times where I died and ran through the portal to not get instanced right away and stood in the area behind the portal for a good 10 seconds or so, which lead to my death as horde kept hitting me.
Dont need the addon to target players.
What about this part of the add-on:
Spy can be configured to announce enemy player encounters and share data with other Spy users in your party, raid or guild.
That does not sound like something someone would be able to do, just be reading the combat log. I canât read everyoneâs combat logâŚ

What Iâve âlearnedâ from this thread:
- Spy breaks roguesâŚsomehow (still havenât read a legitimate argument explaining this)
- You MUST use Spy to have an opinion on it, but if you do use it you are a hacker/cheater
- Using addons (in general) makes you less skilled than someone who doesnât use it.
- A certain gnome rogue doesnât seem to understand the definition of irony with regard to calling other folkâs reasoning weak.
EDIT: Aforementioned gnome rogue likes to back-pedal and obfuscate.

Quick reminder that I never brought âplayer skillsâ in to this.
SPy defenders did, so I REPLIED to the many clones that were echoing the same childish and irrelevant argument,
that if youâre going to bring skills in to this, itâs the player that needs the assistance of an addon thatâs the less skilled one.
That just displays the player name if you have the option toggled.
ex. Kills on Sight player detected : Killick
