So, funny story… but I actually find the spy addon kind of annoying. Not in an “omg it’s gamebreaking” sense, but more in the “it’s actually kind of annoying” sense.
Flying out of Booty Bay? BEEP! BEEP! BEEPBEEP! BEEP! BEEPBEEPBEEP!! 20 enemy faction members detected.
Doing some questing while minding my own business? BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! Is someone actually there or am I standing under an enemy flight path!? Great, now I’m paranoid and giving myself carpal tunnel swinging my camera around every not point five seconds looking for enemies.
It’s definitely got its fair share of cons.
What’s really stupid is to use an addon to get an advantage instead of your gameplay, and then whistle innocently that it does nothing.
DoT tracking addons would like to say hi. Cooldown tracking addons are right behind them.
Might as well just remove all addons that way nobody gets any kind of advantage the way you talk.
And you still haven’t listed a single advantage Spy gives.

I get it, I do. You didn’t realize the game broadcast everyone near you a message when you press your little stealth button.
Then you learned that it does. Instead of saying ‘Oh that is useful information I can use,’ you decide to claim the game is broken due to a feature that has been in play for 15 years.
It is amazing the game has lasted this long without your insights.

Same reason I use almost every other addon; improved interface.
I got Big Bag addons, auction addons, map and quest addons, all kinds of good stuff.
I never claimed everyone does. You most certainly do not. Maybe you should.

dude I recommend you go back and look at the hardcore pvp back in the day you will see that they play with a detached combat log so that they can actively keep an eye on it. furthermore 90% of what you clam this addon does it does not do.
yea no if you really don’t know your rotation at this point then there is just no help for you. this is wow not rainbow 6 siege. its stupidly easy to keep one eye on your CL and still clear mobs.
Do that then, not use an easy mode addon that breaks a class.
If you need to look at the combat log all the time it reduces your reaction time, so that extra info you get is balanced.
If you have an automation informing you, without losing anything from your focus, it breaks the game.

You seem to be missing the part that all this addon does is alert you to the fact that someone used stealth, same as combat log. It does not destealth the rogue, it does not increase your perception to fight said rogue, and it does not prevent the rogue from getting his opener anyway.
No one cares.
Play with the combat log and suffer the loss of focus in watching the actual game.
An automation addon that informs you about those things, without suffering any focus loss,breaks the game.
How many times are you people going to keep bringing the same weak argument that has been answered?

Funny—I didn’t seem to have any issues paying attention to all aspects of my screen during through the 117,845 people I killed. Do you often have trouble keeping track of your energy mid combat as well?
