ActiBLizz stopped making the game for us. When we started playing, the devs were OUR AGE. They left. The Devs are now young bucks who want to play mobile and console games. They have no original ideas, so wow has become Diabloesque. They cater to the E-Sport crowd because they love any reason to have a convention and make more money. Also, it gives them a platform to sing their own praises.
As to the game itself, the devs play in a bubble. They have ready-made guilds, raid groups, dungeon groups, and on and on. They don’t have to deal with the “toxic social aspect” of the game, so they design systems that encourage other players to have control of your time.
Yeah, I am bitter. It sucks when you support a company for almost two decades and they point blank tell you that they don’t care about you as a customer anymore.
incorrect. wow is an mmorpg - so there is really no objective on how you play. there’s some players that think you “should” be actively playing one or a combo of m+/raiding/pvp, not accounting for the thousands of players that just like exploring, collecting, crafting and RP’ing.
stop thinking this game was made just for you and how you think people should play - that was never the objective.
I’m in the same boat , if Blizz didn’t kill loot drops in M+ this wouldn’t be a problem for me . M+ and the open world , occasional pvp , was my wow life . Last expac I could. Get my character to just below a mythic raid item level . This expac I’ll be lucky if I get heroic level . Which I doubt since my priest is my best geared and is 206 . Up the loot % drops . Getting 1 piece of loot for every 6-10 m+ is terrible . Huge time investment for noting but anima .
Then stop crying when you’re capped at 197ilvl from world quest catch-up gear and I’m in full 226 from my duelist PvP rating that took me 150+ games of organizing 10 competent people to get together.
Why should the players that raid mythic most
Just playing 4-6 hours a week for their raid have better gear then someone who plays 20
Hours a week ? Just because they killed a tough boss ? Blizz needs to stop pandering to the 1% . Pretty soon that’s all that will be left Z they are killing their game .
I am 52 and could not of not done a better description of myself this way. I feel in some way comrade. I join and exit guilds always looking for the right one. (2004-2021) some i stayed a long time or they imploded. Like RL i tend to be a little recluse. Good to know its not just me. My friends all got married and kids. Bummer.
Keep trying on the guilds. I’m in a big, active PvE guild called Middle Aged Nerds, and as you might suspect younger players don’t tend to even apply. I’m sure there is a PvP equivalent. That said, I’ve never been in a guild that didn’t require voice for raiding or premades. It’s too important for coordination to pass up.
That said, PvP is always more fun when players are evenly matched. The 220+ crowd will complain bitterly though. As the twink debacle showed years ago, most players don’t actually want a fair fight in BG. They want to be OP enough that they always win.
raiders ruined that, too. Resilience was removed because raiders were upset they had to grind PvP gear to be good at PvP with all that “effort” they were putting in to getting good raid gear.
Wow is played by people that dosent necessariy like to play with others even as an mmo rpg.
I know that you want a full guild driven world were you and your mythic friends pat each other backs and want to be admired by people that dosent even have the chance to do the same content as you.
But luckly we live in better times, in to wich all players can do what they want to do, and enjoyed, alone or with groups.
You can do the same content as me… find 9 other people and que into a RBG… BAM same content…
There are TONS of “yolo” groups going on at all hours of the day for RBGs. You actually have better access to the game than I do because I have to spend 30+ min to fill a team and that’s after spending weeks and weeks adding people to my community that I draw a large chunk of players for groups from.
That person thinks they are entitled to ROFLSTOMP lower geared players in randoms since she “put the work” into getting their rating. Granted, it is harder to organize people and win RBG to get the gear, but they should NOT be able to trample over players that won’t bother with said content.
ilvl caps (200, not 210. No point in capping to a gear level the player doing the content won’t ever be able to achieve) OR slower progression for unrated players would be a much, much healthier overall state for random BG PvP to be in.
Unfortunately, it seems that is the direction Blizzard wants the game to be steered to at the moment.
