The slope is now at a much steeper incline as we slide further and further down the rabbit hole of #someChanges. The latest development update for Wrath is a clear example. They have in front of them a a silver platter of a perfect game yet they’re trying to change it. Blizzard’s latest track record is horrendous and if these changes go through they’ll be sure to continue their latest awful track record. One example is the heroic dungeon adjustments they plan on making. They want to increase / change rewards and badge systems that are employed in heroics to make them viable throughout the entire expansion. People dont want this blizzard, if they want to spam dungeons and mythic + all day they’d play retail. Most of us are happy with spamming heroics for 2 weeks and then basically never touching them ever again. This is an AWFUL change that nobody asked for. Original blizzard knew what they are doing, you do not. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Heroic Dungeon Excerpt below -
The second goal is about making sure Heroic dungeons stay attractive throughout the entire expansion. The Emblems and items they drop should always be valuable, even late in the expansion. They should also remain an interesting challenge throughout the entire expansion, rather than becoming excessively easy as your gear improves. We are exploring plans to add challenges to Heroic dungeons as the expansion proceeds, which would also provide more valuable rewards.

At least my memory of my favorite expansion won’t be tainted. This isn’t Wrath anymore. This is some abomination.

Slippery slope?
It’s a pole drenched in grease now.

Watching all of the people who argued against #nochanges now invert in to pro#nochanges has been one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen this forum go through.
#Change-only-the-things-I-want-changed!

The latest developer update is incredible. “OMG THEY RUINED THE PERFECT EXPANSION”. Yep gamer hyperbole is great. Hopefully more changes to get rid of the instant gratification crowd are inbound.

We only argued for #somechanges during classic and BC which we got none of.
As we approached Lich King, we were adamant about #nochanges since that was the sweet spot of where classic and retail meet.
Did we get dual spec during BC? Who really wanted H v H BGs?
All I see is you taking things out of context as usual to fit your narrative.

You and your demographic are ruining the game for us when you have no long-term plan to remain.
You’re just riding the hype-train demographic, ruining the game for those that were going to make Lich King a permanent home.

Yep the people that made classic a reality in the first place are ruining everything rolls eyes. I wish that the people that “have no long-term plan to remain” would follow through, but we all know they will be there day one sadly.

Yeah it was fine for classic to remain as it was when you had all the demographics available under one roof, including me.
The moment we started to move into BC and abandon classic, y’all saw the writing on the wall and lobbied to begin meddling with classic (BC, Lich).
Rose tinted glasses. Defloors your entire arguement

Would have been a good change much like these changes

As we can clearly see from the devs. Classic is not “vanilla classic”, but a design mindset. Maintaining that mindset is clearly a priority for them. I’m sorry it isn’t for you. They do offer another version of the game that may (I’ll agree it’s not perfect, but it has a lot more instant gratification). The goal isn’t to recreate the expansions as they were, it is to maintain a certain developper mindset throughout.
If we get cata classic, I fully expect to see things like LFR completely removed as they have no place here.

I maintain that Chronoboon Did Nothing Wrong, besides show up fashionably late.

Check my logs on Whitemane and previously same name on bigglesworth
We’ve been playing since 2019 and loving it, but we have no plan to remain lol
You see right there is what I’ve been postulating all the time.
You use the words classic and retail only to fit your narrative of what the game should be.
Soon enough, You’ll be coming after WoD’s LFD/R and will be referring to it as classic as well.
There were two directions they could’ve went with Classic
No changes, and have the game, code/mechanically, be as authentic as possible.
Or some changes, primarily aimed at combatting 2020 gamer behaviors, in hopes of recreating an authentic feel, not limited to just coding/mechanics.
The players, from these forums at least, have overwhelmingly chosen #SomeChanges. Every single instance of someone asking for a change to the game, which happened pre-Classic Vanilla beta, is what led up to this.

But they didn’t go through.
I wonder why that is?
Where are your tbcc logs? Forget planning to stay are you planning to start playing the game?
Oh if this does go to WoD I fully expect them to tune it to classic’s standards as they should. And yes they should remove those features to make it stay in line with the design philosophies they’ve presented in this nice update of theirs.
