"The Scarlet Crusade is no more..."

My point is, not everything we dislike, whether it’s in WoW, movies, t.v, etc is Bad Writing. Xe’ra is perfectly fine as a antagonistic character.

Just because Blizzard has clear issues with certain particular female characters doesn’t mean that every single female character is wrongly written. While X’era is clearly female she’s also an extremely alien form of life, or exotic construct take your pick. It’s female on only the most tenuous levels, certainly not on a sexual level. And maybe we just perceive her as such as a practised personality. She’s certainly not someone who would bond with a mortal female in anything approaching a BFF fashion.

The Light has never been a force for good. It’s been employed in the aims of Good, but there have been evil creatures who have been equally adept at employing it to do harm.

But to utilize it to it’s greatest extent at the level that Anduin does, requires a degree of selflessness that most evil creatures can’t obtain. that’s why Light users of his calibre are so rare.

There are no issues with X’era as far as her character’s purpose in Blizzard’s narrative. She checks off all of the Dark Kosh marks to a T, and that was a driving character for Babylon 5.

As to your issues with us… that’s exactly what they are… your issues alone.

She’s a character set up to be an antagonist, not only to Illidan, but to Alleria and Turalyon’s relationship. Her obsessive opposition to the Void has polarised her against Alleria and laser-focused on driving a wedge between her and her family. Taking a stance that female characters shouldn’t be antagonists is rather sexist in and of itseolf.

Have you seen the news about the artificial uterus?
Ignore, these are the chants of lack of sleep.
Who advocates for the creation of communities that support white cisgender men like POC, LGBT+, women and…?

M? I mentioned that he was mentioned by commentators under the news about “defective” youths.
M? Youth? Teenage male, right?

Ups… This generalizing concept. In theory, it was about college-age men.

Summary

Spider Mother of the Abyss,
Let the Eternal Light dance.
We are insane, useless
We glorify stupid nonsense
Rolling the dice once
And getting loans
Let’s turn our lives to ashes
Let’s laugh very loudly.
And then we’ll go down the throat,
And dancing between the fires
We shout: “It’s your own fault!
Raised the wicked!
What does not fit into the idea
Society for everyone and everything,
And now reap the fruits
Radical action, yes!”

Ulan-Ude smog. No match for London smog… Sleep!

Yeah, that’s why I asked.

What are you even talking about? Literally nothing in my post suggested that. Tone down the hyper-defensiveness and low-key hostility, Thad. It’s unwarranted.

I don’t think I will delete it, and I hope we never get that skin, because it’s a gross fantasy of yours.

There is Shan’do Illidan.
What other skins would you suggest to keep the Lightforged Illidan from being alone?

You mean Shan’don’t Illidan.

Shernish really wants to chime in on how cold it is in Siberia but he’s afraid we will know where he lives.

He has Sledge and I beat I bet.

My husky is the one who loves this -28 weather as he was rescued from north of Fobisher Bay, which gets -50 temps.

My neighbours called Bylaw on me for animal abuse last month because my dog likes to sleep outside in my planter box on the coldest days of the winter.

So my dog’s name is Toby but I call him Becky because he Roo Roo’s at me.

So I respond back to him “Roo roo Becky.”

Lmao. I love the faces huskies make when they pretend they don’t understand what your saying

They are the derpiest dog breed 100%

I love my dog. Every saturday morning he literatlly pushes me out of bed to go on a hike, he’s the worst most motivated psycopath, if he was a man and not a dog he’d be a gym rat, he’d be the kind of guy that lives off excercise and one Cliff bar for sustinance.

He stomps his foot at me all the time when he’s impatient with me. He’s a character. The roo roo’s are “Ang get off your butt lets gooooo!”

I hope they add Shan’do Illidan and Betrayer Malfurion as skins in Hearthstone, too, one day.

They’ve said it repeatedly that the cross faction play has absolutely no lore connection or impact. It’s simply a player mechanic to let more players dungeon and raid. The two factions aren’t going into a buddy spree. They’ll still hate each other as much as they did last week.

I never said every female character is badly written, but that most are.

My position on Blizzard’s issues writing female characters ranges from “certain critics have a point about that, but are exaggerating” to “I see why they’re complaining”.

That first paragraph reads like you’re slyly trying to invoke “no true scotsman”, @Drahliana, to undermine the fact that Xe’ra’s female; Are the Arbiter, Archon Kyrestia and the Winter Queen not female? Or are you, like Renautus, trying to deny the issues with writing female characters apply to Xe’ra too - using the same “No True Scotsman” tactic, no less - because it challenges or undermines your dislike of her?

There are a few issues with Xe’ra as far as the character’s purpose in Blizzard’s narrative - which seem to be;

  • Edgelord retcons
  • Give Illidan “cool points”
  • (potentially) ax grinding about real-life authority figures

She had no problem with Alleria and Turalyon’s relationship - she even gave Alleria a chance to renounce the Void on Turalyon’s behalf (how like a fanatic to offer a compromise lol) The majority of people I’ve seen who support the “big bad naaru story” fall into at least one of three categories;

  • Major Illidan fanboys/fangirls
  • Edgelords
  • Have an ax to grind against certain real-life authority figures.

And you made a strawman argument against me with this ridiculous claim.

I never said anything’s wrong with female antagonists and you know it.

I’ve had some good discussions about where we can go with Azshara’s villainy and how much I want Sylvanas to answer for her crimes.

A handful of people have issues with me here. And that’s just their problem (including you).

If Xe’ra is an antagonist, she’s as badly written as the Jailer (and we’ve also seen how bad the writing’s been regarding “morally grey”); weren’t they both shoehorned into WoW’s lore, their motives are weak or never explained AND they get killed off anticlimactically easily in the same expansion? And those are just three examples.

So don’t you think it’s reminiscent of Blizzard’s problems writing female characters that a female character (Xe’ra) - who could’ve given a lot more info about the setting - was literally sacrificed to try and give a male character (Illidan) “cool points”? You didn’t address that point I raised, so I accused you of ignoring it. So what do you think of that point?

Considering I didn’t make that machinima and the amount of upvotes it has, I’m not the only one open to that idea which is no more gross than your fedora-tipper position on it (it’s just less popular).

There’s already a few skins for Illidan in HotS. Other skins I’d suggest are Archmage Illidan, Pirate Illidan and a Diablo-themed skin.

Xe’ra is not a feminist character. She’s a toxic female character.

It’s not just with Illidan she tried to convert Alleria against her will too and imprisoned her.

Xe’ra is more toxic than Sylvanas.

I find it extremely insulting, as a woman. that you are trying to use women’s issues to justify a toxic female character who literally doesn’t respect consent. You are worse than the most toxic Sylvanas fans who claim she has never done anything wrong. Why do you think you get a free pass because you are stanning a character you project your irl faith onto?

You think you are doing something sjw but you are not, you are just stanning a toxic female character and twisting women’s social justice to try and vindicate rape and make Xe’ra the victim.

Xe’ra is not the victim, she’s the perpetrator.
