I’m not talking about lack of roleplay activity, I’m not saying no roleplay can be done either and this is not a WoW or Roleplay is dead/dying thread [Purely exemplary title].
I’m simply talking about Blizzard’s lack of devotion to better enabling us roleplayers that used to make up a larger portion of their playerbase in the community.
- There is no player housing.
- Transmogrification should be FREE on roleplay realms, we use them the most.
- We have to rely on an ADDON to create roleplay profiles for our characters and I wouldn’t trust Blizzard to do it as good as TRP does or to allow us that much freedom.
- Cross faction roleplay has always been difficult to do with the language barriers and we need to rely on a shoddy “system” of both the players having the Elixir of Tongues potion [Which is expensive] to understand eachother and /em.
- How timelines and timeskips work is a wrench in our character development and nobody knows what present-day zones are like anymore because they are permastuck in their states from over a decade ago.
- Lack of freedom with character expression in the main story because we are defaulted to be the “champion” of Azeroth who defeated the Burning Legion and are practically a god protagonist in everything. “Yeah I just got finished killing Death itself, have you ever heard of the Shadowlands? I’m kind of a big deal.”
- There’s really not a lot of emotes we can do to act out our characters, a basic of like 5 animations is just recycled. Is it really too much to ask for a /shoo animation or a /shiver animation as well? Or even like partnered animations like highfives and hugs? [You can take a note from TF2’s book for that one]. 90% of the other emotes are just text based.
- Toys in the Toy Box collection are virtually useless with such long cooldowns and short durations to be used for any character relevancy.
- We can’t use visual affects for our characters like perma stars around them or trailing shadows when we walk.
- Everything fun and enjoyable for roleplay like Druid shapeshift form artifact appearances needs to be “won” or bought when really they should have been customization options given for free from the get go. [I still want different eye color options for Death Knights]
And all around if you’re just not playing to end content there’s really a lack of things roleplayers can devote to in their free time or have fun with.
I had to move all of my characters from Emerald Dream over to Moon Guard when I came back to WoW because the livelier place it used to be years ago is no more. The High population on the realms list is just a big fat lie, it’s not even “Medium”. I just went back there on a test character again and the /who command showed me 23 people total in Stormwind and only 16 in Oribos.
It seriously needs to be marked as a low population server and Blizzard needs to stop kidding themselves that this game is in favor enough to us at all to draw in and keep us here because RPers are a good chunk of WoW’s paying community that Blizzard doesn’t wanna lose.
That Epic Edition of Dragonflight is largely purchased by roleplayers for those Transmog items. It’s practically abuse to us to pay more for such things as RPers and yet Blizzard buys us for cheap with the pitiful stuff they give [And don’t give] to roleplayers included with our monthly pay for this game.
