The Ridiculous State of BG/Honor Farming (Math)

Been playing since 2004, quit in Cata, now I’m back. Right now there is a terrible problem with honor farming. It was not like this in original live TBC.
Yes, the Q time for Horde is still 15-30 minutes during heavy play times, and 45-60 minutes for AV. But fixing that with same faction BGs doesn’t solve the issue. The issue isn’t just the Q time itself, but the sheer amount of battlegrounds you need to run to get any gear.
For example: to gear this druid (an alt) I’ll need to farm about 206,899 honor. For an average battleground WIN you get between 250 and 400 honor. We’ll average that to 325 honor per bg WIN (a high estimate) -
This means that to honor gear my druid I’ll need to win about 637 bgs. If we say that each BG averages 20 minutes, that means that I have to run 212 hours of winning battlegrounds…not counting the losses, running into premades, or the Q times themselves. If I played 24 hours a day, with 0 time waiting in Q, and I won every BG? It would take me around 9 days of playtime…
From a micro perspective? To get your blue 70 pvp gear pants (20k honor), one single piece of pvp gear…it will take you about 62 battleground wins (20 hours of straight wins). I’ve run about 50 battlegrounds on my main, counting the losses, and I’ve earned enough to get the 8000 honor pvp trinket.
Now we add in the Q times, which I’ll average to about 20 minutes, same as the BGs themselves…that doubles the time just in waiting alone. That means that getting that one piece of gear is reaching pretty far above 40 hours if you win every game, probably around 50 hours with losses included.
Everybody I talk to in game seems to realize this is all pretty ridiculous, even for the Old Head TBC players/grinders.
Can we pleaaaase put back in same faction BGs and up the honor?
(Edit/Addition)
Math from my experiential point of view so far (which does make it worse):
as stated above, to get about 10k honor, I’ve run about 50 bgs (win & losses). I require 206,899 honor to gear my druid.
206,899 divided by 10,000 = 20.69 (how many sets of 50 bgs ill need to run)
20.69 x 50 bgs = 1034.5 Battlegrounds to get the honor, wins and losses.
If we take the averages above of 20 minute BGs and 20 minute Qs?
1034.5 x 40 mins (per Q and BG) = 41,379.8 Minutes.
That’s 689.67 hours.
28.74 Days of playtime strictly BG grinding as the game is now.

I’m not gonna lie, while I enjoy raiding pvp is the main aspect of WoW I enjoy.

It’s unplayable right now, it’s simply not worth the time. It will slowly cause people to just log in less each day till they quit while blizzard keeps testing the solution that worked.

Exactly this. When we know they have a solution, its an insult to my time.

I currently play BGs for fun (Yeah im weird) and seeing people change their strat to get the most honor ruins the game. Sometimes they dont even play to win (Which is understandable). Also most people play after work and the smartest way for them is to do premades which also ruins the game against pugs. You have no idea how many premades I played against soloque’n for my gear. It just kills your grind and makes the game not fun/fair.

-Premades vs Premades should be a thing
-Fix honor so when players join a BG its worth the dub
-I just want everyone to have fun again

wow you have to actually put in time to get a reward. oh no. Who said you are entitled to achieve the entire set easily? Its supposed to be meaningful rewards and it is. Grind it out or unsub and keep your crying to yourself.

he says, until his game is void of people

Who even cares about the set? Its trash, and I would be better served just using my near BIS pve gear.

I want to PLAY. I dont want to SIT IN QUEUE. Blizzard is ACTIVELY preventing me from doing such because they LEGIT WONT FLIP A SWITCH.

Its that simple.

It sure was.

swap factions? what type of fantasy land do you live in thinking you can roll horde and expect instant queues. Its your own fault.

Yep, it absolutely was.

At least you can farm your pieces.

Blizzard still hasn’t put the resto ones in yet. The 5-pc is there but all the offpieces are missing.

It sure wasn’t. I was there too. I was playing along with my friends and family who have also returned to the game from that era.
I was gearing/geared and it was nowhere near this grind. They were geared. Many on multiple characters.
Again, in this state you’re looking at around 24 days of playtime in just the basic honor grind. If you played 4 hours every day concentrating on only honor farming it’d take you 144 days (4.8 months) to get your honor gear.
No. No it wasn’t.

Not gonna lie. But you made some VERY generous estimates there. It’s actually MUCH worse then what you posted. You can’t even get the marks to buy the gear if you somehow managed to get the honor in the first place.

Take your pick from the screenshots below from my server as horde. This is EVERY DAY. Not a rare event.

was coming to the forums to post about this very topic…

i calculated for my lock 172k honor for a full blue set and staff…

im alliance and we maybe win AV while im playing all day, once or twice and that’s extremely rare…

Honestly, I just wanted honor pvp gear to be able to defend myself from ganks while farming ore in Nagrand but this is INSANEEEEEEEEEEE for pvp blues… LOL

I honestly rather not waste my time in BG’s losing as alliance, and I imagine most alliance are going to figure the same thing which will ultimately INCREASE horde queue times even more with less alliance queuing overall as people slowly realize how much of a grind it is.

Goodluck to anyone going for it. I just don’t believe it’s worth the shear time played for the gear. Arenas and 5s probably best bet I guess for pvp gear, right??

I rolled Horde before Classic was released. I was on a Horde low pop, Alliance controlled Realm originally, and thats what I wanted to play again.

Instant Queues? Well WE HAD THEM. So who’s living the fantasy now?

As to it being my fault? No, the queues are Blizzards fault for releasing a Boost, and giving Alliance an easy road to rerolling.

For some reason I can’t post more images. But I have them up to 6+ hours wait time to get into a BG.

None of this “Oh 1 hour this sucks”. NO. It’s up to 6 hours!!!

That’s nice.

The honor rate is TBC accurate.

lol, its his own fault for wanting to play them game? Really, do you think about this before you say it or are you just trying to troll?

Shouldn’t have rolled Horde then.
