The reasons why i believe that the wow token would be beneficial for SoD

Actually I do. It pertains to back when players were demanding Blizzard take action on people paying gold for services. They initially policed the behavior but dialed it back and let the floodgates open when they realized their policing of the situation not only wasn’t yielding the bot free, no RMT utopia they were envisioning, it was causing their player counts to dip.

This has been an ongoing issue with players since the beginning of the game, but the only time Blizzard tried to do something about it, let’s just say there’s a reason why they don’t.

What you’re more likely to see is this be a throwaway for Blizzard to try and weasel in the token because “Well, players want GDKPs, but we don’t want players buying gold from other sources. So we’ll add the token, assume people buy their gold from us and all is okay!” and well, the company calling the shots now is most associated with a guy notorious for early on infecting computers then selling the antivirus program to remove them, three guesses where this is going but my money is on as I said:

This ban happens, nothing changes and shocking pretty much nobody capable of rational thought. Blizzard then starts talking about how gold sellers are out of hand and introducing their old faithful approach to “stopping gold sellers and bots” by adding in the token. Then surprisingly GDKPs are going to be allowed back because “we didn’t realize how popular they were, and well with the token everything should be a fairer playing field!”

Yeah I can see this coming a mile away as can most people. That’s cool if you think there’s going to be huge changes, but the only meaningful change Blizzard has done in the last decade to combat botting was by adding Dragonriding to the game because it took a while for bots to properly handle the mounts. Fancy that, they kneecap bots in their tracks when they don’t try to, yet their previous efforts have led to TOU sanctioned gold buying because it comes from them so it’s fine.

I would love wow token in sod, i would have free game time for like 20 years, i’d imagine the cost of wow token would be hella cheap like 40g lol

holy crap this is a bad idea.

like really really bad idea and you should feel ashamed for even allowing yourself to think this thought.

get in the corner and no food for you tonight.

Adding tokens to classic is just replacing one card swipe for another. Classic was never designed to have people buying gold in any form which is why consumes are far more powerful and expensive than in retail. Future expansions had to be designed to accommodate tokens (and look how they all turned out).

Gold buying has been nothing but a problem for classic and giving people a ban-free way of doing it isn’t going to improve the game. Gold buying causes gold inflation and tokens would drive prices up even higher - punishing those people who still play the game properly. If you want retail game design ideas like tokens, play retail. RMT shouldn’t be embedded into the game and made legal just because some people are doing it.

Give us wow tokens on sod! woot

i love retail and it is doing very well, the wow token is a beloved feature there.

but classic wotlk has the token and it is very popular.

YES! BRING the WOW TOKEN TO SOD PLEASE BLIZZARD

There you go

i would really appreciate it if you were to quote my posts accurately… thank you very much, friend.

here is the proper quote for all to see

Anyone can see the quote in context using the forum UX. I’m giving you the answer to your own question using your own question.

They could release all the way to Shadowlands and it wouldn’t make Wrath any less retail and and less antithetical to Classic.

I have a career.

i would like to politely disagree… wotlk classic is called wotlk classic because it is classic. that is blizzard’s decision, not mine.

it may be marketed as classic but its not “classic” in spirit or in the eyes of many.

you can argue semantics all you want and you know very well what Aguy is saying but you dishonestly argue the semantics cause you have no counter for the meaning of what they are saying.

alot of people feel (and rightly so) that even tbc was only half “classic” and wrath was where it went from “classic” to full on “retail” in terms of design and function on alot of the systems and other various things leading to a more “retail” game and quite a bit farther away from what alot of people agree upon as what “classic” actually is.

but you knew that and still argue the semantics.

be a bit more honest and you might gain some respect.

who are these people? everyone i know loves wotlk classic because it is a perfect version of classic…

yes blizzard does market wotlk classic because it is a classic version of wotlk.

again, this was blizzard’s decision, not mine. i did not name wotlk classic or cataclysm classic, that was blizzard.

obviously blizzard knows best, they are the creators of wotlk classic and SOD…if wotlk classic wasn’t classic, then the creators of wotlk classic would have named it something else.

Everyone you know probably buys gold.

I don’t care.

Well, I’m just stating the facts here.

See how Cata classic is on the front page of blizzard’s wow classic website?

So it would seem logical to assume that cataclysm classic is classic wow.

Well wotlk classic has the wow token available for purchase from blizzard, same as it should be for SoD.

Wotlk classic has the wow token and everyone loves wotlk classic. Let’s bring more of the wotlk classic spirit over to SoD with the wonderful wow token!

Nah it’s a fact that neither Wrath or Cataclysm are Classic. Hope that helps.

Era doesn’t have it does it? SoD is a season… we have phase 1-5 maybe a 6th then it’s gone.
