exactly. a purchaser of the wow token is not given exclusive access to any player power that is not already available to all free to play players.
a free to play player can clear BFD, then a purchaser of a wow token can be carried through BFD… the free to play player would have access to the same loot tables as the purchaser of the wow token.
wow token would only be pay to win if the purchaser had access to “enhanced loot tables.” but that is not the case here.
the person paying real currency for the gear in clash of clans does not have access to any player power items that are unavailable to free to play players, thus clash of clans is not pay to win.
thus, the wow token is also not pay to win.
a person who buys a wow token is only being given access to the same gold that every free-to-play player has access to obtaining
here is an official definition of pay to win:
“Pay To Win” is defined as games in which you get an advantage in the game if you spend real money on items, weapons or features and are thus clearly superior to other players .
there is nothing the wow token will get you that isn’t already available for free in game, there is nothing that is “CLEARLY SUPERIOR TO OTHER PLAYERS”.
wow token gives you the same gold that anyone can farm from killing murlocs in theramore.
the wow token is not cheating, it’s just gold. the same gold that is available to farm in-game.
maybe players back in 2004 did nothing else with their lives except playing wow or other mmos, so they didn’t have a problem with spending 20 hours a day farming consumables so that they could attend their GDKPs back in 2004.
but now, players are more modern citizens…everyone has jobs and a family and friends and other real life responsibilities.
no one has the time required to play the game like a job anymore, it’s just not how mmos are played these days.
thank you so much for reading through all of my thread, i really appreciate that you put in so much effort to understand why the wow token would be great for SoD.
I’m actually getting ready to sleep. I logged into check forums lol
I don’t need to read through it, I just see you replying and saying more of the same thing. It’s hilarious.
Have fun with this thing you’re doing. Even though it doesn’t look like it ever worked.
GDKP balloons the token in Wrath.
Carries balloon it in Retail.
GDKPs are getting banned. Yeah let’s see them ban those two things above in their respective games and tell me how hot the token is doing after 6 months. Actually would hemorrhage so many players the game would get axed by Microsoft outright.
The problem with RMT in the game is that once RMT is widespread, it becomes mandatory.
Consumes in a normal economy are priced so that most can afford them. (Including the blacksmith that peddles his iron shield spikes and soon the mithril spurs for a very modest income.) Because the consume creators would like to sell them.
Once RMT gold gets wide spread (Such as with GDKP, this being the reason that GDKP is being banned) the prices at which consumes can be sold becomes much higher because more people have more gold. (Legitimately or “otherwise”)
This requires the person that only does blacksmithing and plays a couple hours a week outside of raiding…to buy gold. (Or participate in GDKP which effectively spreads RMT gold someone else bought among the masses.)
TL;DR: RMT gold is awful for classic, it coming from a 3rd party source or blizzard does not matter.
Once it becomes wide spread, it becomes mandatory in order to afford gearing/raiding w/ consumables… (This is probably what people refer to with “P2W” when they’re not referring to straight up purchased items in a GDKP.)
Well by this logic, it would seem that the wow token draws people in to play the game more in retail, so let’s bring it to SoD so that SoD becomes just as popular than retail
