The reasons why i believe that the wow token would be beneficial for SoD

ok answer this for me please:

Can a person use their in-game farmed gold to purchase the same items that a person can purchase with wow token gold?

Can a person in Genshin Impact farm Primogems in game to purchase the same 5-Star waifus that a person can purchase by buying Primogems?

no idea, donā€™t play that game.

ok so youā€™re saying that time is money, is this correct?

so if time = money, then in-game gold farmers are essentially ā€œbuying their gold by spending time.ā€

so the people who purchase gold with a wow token are doing the same thing as in-game gold farmersā€¦ the in-game gold farmers are purchasing the gold with their time

and you expressly stated

Not quite. You spend time in an RPG game to progress your character, and currency accumulation is a part of that character progression.

Basically, the WoW Token only works within a context where people are already spending money to bypass progression, i.e. leveling.

Which is the case in both Wrath Classic and in Retail WoW, the level boost came first, the WoW Token only came after when progression is already invalidated.

actually yes.

you laid out the foundation for this.

time = money = gold

wow token = money = gold

time = wow token = money = gold

whether a player purchases their gold with their time or a wow token, the end result is the same.

thank you so much for that wonderful example as it proves that there is absolutely zero difference between purchasing gold with a wow token and purchasing gold with your time.

i donā€™t see any reason to further reply to this conversation because my side has been fully proven.

i do want to politely thank you for helping me prove this point, i really appreciated it.

i hope you have a wonderful day, my new friend

actually, no.

thank you, that is another benefit of the wow tokenā€¦ i really appreciate your input here.

that is a good point.

Me and many other players view the wow token as beneficial.

but i dont think parsing really mattersā€¦ sure if you want to set a goal for yourself to parse higher and see how good your dmg gets, okā€¦ but your high parses donā€™t invalidate the dps of other peopleā€¦ itā€™s not a competition, everyone is just playing to have fun.

The crux of the issue I have with the token is the p2w aspect. If you donā€™t have time to grind for gold you shouldnā€™t get the rewards (imo ofc). Once the token and RDF were added to Wrath Era the player base tanked. I do think there is a market for the P2W model, heck there are hundreds of successful games with that model. I just donā€™t think it fits in Era or versions of Era. I also believe if Blizz did introduce the token then you would see a large migration of players to ā€œthose serversā€. But we will never know I suppose. Cheers!

the wow token is not pay to win, please look back in the thread and find Hwanwokā€™s posts, this player describes exactly why the wow token is not p2w.

Oh I read it, but I donā€™t buy it. You can tell yourself that if you want though, Iā€™m fine with that.

the truth is that the wow token is not pay to win because the gold you get from purchasing a wow token is exactly the same as the gold one would receive from farming in game.

see my previous post

and thatā€™s all that really needs to be said on the subject.

thank you for your contribution, though. we do appreciate it, friend

Or the same gold made by bots by farming. A simple google search will show you that gold is available for purchase by illicit sites. The token is P2W, no way around that. Iā€™m not saying P2W is bad, there are hundreds of games that are P2W but try to convince you otherwise. I just donā€™t think it belongs in Era (as shown when Wrath Era tanked) or SoD. Luckily we wonā€™t have to worry about it

yes, that is a completely valid method for acquiring gold.

is parsing higher even worth worrying about, though?

E-sports in general donā€™t make money and you think Blizzard who oversees at least two dead leagues is making large profits?

Delusional.

I would like to disagree with that; blizzard makes lots of money from it

I would like to propose an alternative, called W2Gold.

Your time is valuable - you are a high earner and farming for hours in-game feels tedious. It is not enjoyable, you want to pvp and raid! You think to yourself, ā€œgosh my time is worth way more than the $x that (illicit website) charges for Y amount of gold, Iā€™ll just buy it!ā€

STOP RIGHT THERE BUCKO! Thatā€™s illegal. So how do we work around it, without lining Microsoftā€™s pockets with our hard-earned bucks?

Introducing the W2Gold system. I make a ton more money than you irl, and thus my time is more valuable. So, every quest, mob drop, etc. rewards me with bonus gold proportionate to how much more I earn than the baseline WoW Classic enjoyer.

Everyone must submit a W2 to Blizz and we can get started!

It would be much more beneficial for blizzard to just add the wow token because they profit from that.
