Classic is toxic, if the tank makes 1 tiny mistake, the whole group/raid roasts them to the point where they respec. Am i right?
Thats why tanks should charge cash before hand, they cry and you leave. You still got your money.
This has totally not been my experience. Mostly, groups and people are fine, though if you’re farming anything where items of any value drop, then there’s a pretty large disincentive to join groups of people who you don’t know, if you do not have to.
First of all, define “toxic” as that term is thrown around far too often without any context. Roasted… To the point of respec? Why would so-called toxic people drive you to respec? What was your spec before and after this alleged toxicity?
I do not think Classic is “toxic” so no, I do not think you’re right.
Uh that’s not at all why I don’t tank (for pugs). I don’t tank cause I can get a full guild group inside 20 seconds.
If I did tank for you op, I would rock your world, cause tanking is easy. I just don’t have to.
Most people don’t tank pugs because its annoying.
Besides if one mistake can wipe the group you are pulling too much. You should pull just below your limit to account for this, not at or above it to where everyone has to burn pots and CDs.
Pug related issue.
Experienced tanks don’t pug, for many reasons, this is just one of them.
ya know, I havnt had this experience yet. maybe cause the highest dungeon ive tanked is ZF but all my groups have been fine. Some have been awesome. friendly peeps, everyone chatting it up, no issues. Even on wipes…we get back, buff up and back to the game. No rage quits, no yelling, no ninjas.
I’m a 60 druid tank on grob. If there are mistakes made, it is the tanks fault. The tank needs to mark targets and make responsible pulls. Let me tell you, the best way to improve on tanking is to stop skipping stuff. To clarify, I want you to stop hugging wall, wall jumping up pillars and instead start clearing a path. This is a fantastic way to improve group moral since there is less pressure on the group if something does happen cough hunter multi shot cough. If you have a mage in the group mark a poly on tough mobs. Make sure your healer has Mana before a pull. The most important part is to keep a good mental because DPS will pull stupid stuff and you will get blamed regardless how good you are, it will happen. TDLR tank needs to get gud and stop skipping stuff.
I have had very little issue with toxic players. Most toxic players have been speed runners farming hoj but i think that is 50 runs do to a guy.
Much the same for retail, dont pull a wrong grp in m+
Oh thanks for the idea! I’m going to start do this right away.
Mistakes are far less lethal in Classic.
I don’t tank because the Classic raid design is awful. Nobody needs a bunch of tanks for raids, so why bother trying to get one of those spots when you can just be a DPS.
If Raids required more tanks then you’d have more tanks for normal grouping. It’s just simply a flaw of Classic design.
I would say people do not tank because there not many raid spots for tanks. Tanks are numerically the least needed roll in the game in raids.
In retail I would like to spec tank but the problem is very few are needed for raids so it is not worth it to put in all that time for a role I will have much difficulty getting a raid spot for.
But when it comes to LFR yes, I
percent agree with you. One mistake in retail LFR and you will be kicked most of the time.
people are quick to kick in lfr, its not really about tanks imo. i saw someone kicked today for hitting not ready on a ready check. we probably waited longer for a replacement than they would have taken
a mistake by the tank is just more noticeable than one by a healer or dps. kick the lowest dps is pretty common too, sometimes its warranted and sometimes a jerk move
Generally in every pug I’ve been in, no matter who you are you are allowed one screw up wipe
After the 2nd screw up that causes a wipe, either you will be kicked or the people will start leaving the group because they see you as a liability
No. But thank you for asking. ![]()
No, you’re not.
I was tanking strat ud and Nerub’s shield dropped. It was an upgrade for me. Dps paly in my group rolled need without even asking. When I called him out, he claimed it was for his offspec and that he didn’t notice it was an upgrade for me. I dropped group and hearthed out
