Check with alliance who do not run raid premades in AV - and who play AV a lot -and their win ratio at max level will likely be around 35% or lower. My ally’s is 34% last I checked - that is just for games played at level 120.
That comment was about BGs as Alliance in general… not just epics. Also, if you’re unlucky like me, all you get is IoC queuing epics and that’s more of a turn off.
Oh ok. Yeah, IoC is… ugg.
Posting the same information for years? In all the years I have played since Vanilla, there have been tons of listed issues that the Horde have brought up that are obvious to any honest player, but the Alliance like these deficiencies so they complain about something on their side as if it compares when it really doesn’t. The one thing that has been consistant in their justification for Horde not getting anything changed is “IB CHOKE!” because apparently the Horde forcing pvp in IB choke to compensate for their garbage buildings/setup is all the Horde ever needed.
So what you have been talking about regarding “lack of understanding of the map” is nothing more than “Horde has IB choke so they have all the advantages”. It’s simplistic by design because the details aren’t disputable by an honest player but they are harder to explain. Simple explanations are easy to throw out, and that is just what you are doing in the long tradition of the Alliance when it comes to AV.
Agreed. They ‘fixed’ the wrong gy. They needed to make a change to IB gy to actually make a difference. But hey, at least this way they can pretend they tried.
If they fix the ibgy, would they be required to fix the horde base to make it equivalent to the alliance bridge?
They’re not “required” to do anything obviously. Look at people shooting the IoC bosses through the walls with outdoor siege weaponry.
Look at Ion’s comment of unrated PVP not intended to be “competitive”. Bad choice of words obviously, as everything’s potentially competitive, even PVE. I think what he really meant is that it has no “esports” potential, which I would agree with. Only rated content would really draw in viewers.
And no esports potential, no true support. Look at HotS, them pulling out of esports with that game is seen as the game being on it’s last leg.
Go back and look up any discussion that Ragaren has commented on about AV. He has not ever used a simplistic argument. He has and does go into great, and correct detail about the map, the advantages and disadvantages for both sides.
I don’t know Ragaren , not in game, not in person, only on the forums, so don’t take this as a buddy siding with a buddy. But I think it is a safe bet to say that he is as knowledgeable as anyone on this forum about that particular map. You would do well to pay attention to what he is saying about the matter.
Lol. I think Juga has it pegged that they just don’t want to hear the ally tears if they change the seige weps around.
IBGY choke point is far better than the SHGY choke point. It’s not even close. But the ally bridge is the far better choke point in comparison to the horde base. You can’t balance one without balancing the other.
Then maybe they need to take the time to balance both. Along with the siege engines ability to kill the boss in IoC. Everyone realizes that should not be a thing, at least anyone who is honest with themselves.
Yeah I think it balances things out pretty much. Sure it’s not “mirror-exact symmetry” but they’re still relatively equal opposing defensive resources.
The only difference is that IBGY is often used, Alliance rarely uses theirs.
Have you ever tried to enter a well defended FWK choke? Archer cover from both towers, damage from players in towers and on top of the gate, LoS and a single entry gate are strong. I agree with Rag on this. (Don’t tell the smelly little dwarf I said that)
They did fix the horde base. There’s only one way in now and it’s through the hut where horde can gather on top of the hill between the two towers.
FWK has los from archers in several positions. Most of the west frostwolf tower archers don’t even fire an arrow.
Don’t get me wrong, the fwk is a good choke point… but it is a far less effective choke point than the alliance bridge.
But you can bypass the alliance bridge.
I really can’t. I suck at wall jumping and have no idea how people manage to jump up there. Of the av’s I have been in this expansion, I haven’t seen anyone go that way.
Personal preference maybe, but I’d rather try to cross the bridge and rez at SPGY than fight that narrow path into FW and rez at FWGY. Either way, I think they’re comparable. Far more so than SH and IB.
But it can be done. Get a Warlock to throw a gateway. Easy.
Make that 4-1 Horde now, in the 5 AV’s I’ve been in since the snow drift patch. Last one was a us turtling IB (first one I’ve seen personally in 8.1), but we eventually got pushed back a bit but they never got past Frostwolf. Had to pull away to save Galv’s bacon a couple times but we were never in any danger as the attrition rate was always in our favor.
Go back and look at what I wrote. I said “their”, as in all alliance over the years. I didn’t single him out. I just referenced what he said.
