The reason Arena is dying

100%
There is also something to be said about how the only way to really learn how to play your spec in PvP is arena, even if you’re like me and don’t like it.
It’s an eat your veggies before you eat desert kinda thing

Are people actually saying this? I remember people constantly complaining during shadowlands. The Ret/Warr meta, gearing sucked, specs cheese oneshotting etc.

2s and 3s are dying because people would rather queue solo shuffle or blitz than find partners. They want rewards more than they want competition.

It’s really that simple.

Solo Shuffle should be a meme bracket for practicing, testing talents, testing gear, having FUN.

Gamers take the path of least resistance … “how can I get these rewards (titles, elite gear, tabards, mounts) with the least amount of effort?” the answer is blitz and solo shuffle. Remove some rewards from Solo Shuffle and Blitz, put more rewards into 3s. Done.

The real problem is the playerbase is too fragmented, not to mention there are less pvpers every expansion.

Rated pvp is basically a pyramid, if the bottom row is shaved off every expansion it just gets smaller and smaller, which means climbing to higher ratings also becomes harder relative to prior levels.

Before the bfa change to gladiator cutoffs becoming static, gladiator titles were on average somewhere around 2.8k, With 2.4k being barely duelist & r1 being well over 3.4k depending on the season.

Now 2.4k is basically r1 cutoff, which should mean glad should’ve been around 2k-2.1k if we were using the old % system but it isn’t. It’s 2.4.

The static rating system does not favor the exponential and inevitable drop in pvp participation, which is a massive problem.

Furthermore, the reason said participation is lower is simple, most casuals shifted to shuffle or blitz which hurts arenas by far, but the solo modes cannot retain players in the long term due to very poor / non existant rewards, titles are a far cry imo and shouldnt be counted as “rewards”, there needs to be more.

And for 3v3, the gap between elite mogs and gladiator mounts are too far apart which decentivizes commitment towards improving. The weapon enchants and tabard are a joke and not real incentive pushers.

Imagine if raiders could only get slayer titles if they were the actual and only world first clearing guild and ahead of the curve + all raid mounts were only for those who are also world first contenders that failed to get it, ergo the very top end.

What do you think would happen if that was the case? Pve would die off just as much as pvp, the carrot for pve only works because it is accessible and attainable by many.

This all shows that blizzard has absolutely no idea what the gap between pvp rewards are for players compared to pve, it also shows they don’t understand true player appeal which drives incentives.

Like giving socks as a birthday present to a kid when they wanted a ps5 or whatever, It’s incredibly disappointing.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

Well look at every other competitive PvP game. You can just login and queue which is good and what people want.
They should’ve just made 2s,3s and RBGs solo queue instead of reinventing the wheel with new game modes.

You mean sit lfg for 1 hr as dps (if the spec is popular) to queue 2 times and disband.

Yeah, I agree.

Solo queue should be, you queue up, 3 solo players get put into a team against either 3 other solo players, or an organised team. Do some kind of fancy mathematical calculation where if the solo players win against an organised team, they get extra points. 3s gets inflated and we rebuild the community.

Game modes should be 2s, 3s, Blitz (solo queue rated bgs), with solo queue built into 3s.

Yeah meanwhile
I’m can login at any time of the day or night and be in a random BG within 5 mins

May be blitz, dont like losing due people’s lack of gear (fresh 80)

WoW is an amazing PVE game.

people said that about wotlk

it aint it chief

I think rated arena is super fun. If you don’t think it’s fun why are you even on here? Go play random BGs.

What isn’t fun is playing LFG simulator. Which is why I completely quit 3v3 and only play shuffle. 3v3 can’t be saved and there’s no point of saving it. Just recolor glad mount and add it to shuffle and blitz.

people cry about 40-50min SS ques but keep qing the bracket while also saying they have no time to play the game…

because the long ques are not going anywhere and nothing blizzard does is changing it

Games old and has been figured out. The skill and effort it takes to be at a consistent glad level (inflated and deflated seasons) has increased steadily with each season and each expansion. The gradual decrease in players over time in pvp has led to constant deflation issues, long queue times, a dead community and lfg tool, and 0 new player draw.

Convinced my friends younger brothers to try out the game for the first time ever. They enjoyed pve for a while but eventually lost motivation when they hit the M+ 10 wall and AOTC raiding wall/hump. They tried like 3 bgs and 2 arenas…said NEVER AGAIN.

Ya, too many classic expansions. Then you got further fragmentation between retail game modes.

I also see pvers now asking for a soloQ for mythic+

Learn to tank/heal. :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

I don’t know if they’re making MoP classic.

Rumor is they’re just resetting.

i did see on wowhead they found a sha corrupted tiger and serpent.

so chances are could be coming unless they decide its not worth it anymore.

I saw that but starting to wonder if it’s trading post mounts being there are two of them.

Or timewalking.

Could get both, I guess a lot of people been wanting fresh Classic Servers.
