I am literally the happiest story forum poster on the planet right now. No one is gonna out happy me atm.
I’m more hyped for Sylvanas’s character than ever before. I’ve wanted to see her come full circle since she was killed by Arthas and had her soul forever twisted in WC3. It’s sort of a double edge sword tho. I’ve always believed that the full circle is the end of the road for Sylvanas story which is a tragedy since I feel her story/history is leaps and bounds more interesting than 99.9% characters in WoW. Sylvanas mustache twirl is coming to a squeak halt and my arms have fallen off from all the fist pumping.
These cinematics and expansion at large are right up my alley. I’ve discussed the Forsaken’s fight with inner demons, Ranger General Vs Dark Lady, Curse of Undeath, Free Will, souls etc etc for over a decade.
There’s so much for us to discuss and I don’t know where to begin. Lets start here: “Now I understand why you brought me here. Why you tried so hard to persuade me. Because if you can get me to let go of hope, you finally can too.”
Why Anduin; and how could he cause her to give up hope? I’m assuming it’s hope in securing free will and releasing us from our prison. Why would she give that up for Anduin?
Hope. Just when I thought that story beat was being swept under the rug.
Feel free to bring up more content from the cinematics. There is a lot to chew on here.
If Sylvanas gets “redeemed,” it’s better that she actually comes to believe she’s been in the wrong, than a Legion-Illidan story where the narrative tells the player/factions they were wrong about how they viewed a character.
However, if Sylvanas is going to be “fixed,” then they should “fix” all the other ruined Horde characters too.
Garrosh should make it out of Revendreth and become the guy we saw in Stonetalon and Silverpine.
Vol’jin should return to be Warchief, Loa-Infused or not. He literally did nothing wrong and was killed to set up Sylvanas’ story.
We need pre-Cata Thrall without all the mopey guilt and self-doubt.
We need pre-BFA Saurfang where he isn’t a Horde-hating, suicide-seeking defeatist.
We need a version of Baine that shows he likes the Horde infinitely more than the Alliance.
Also- Sylvanas can’t be welcomed back into the Horde with open arms. She spent a whole expansion turning us into a warcrime simulator and ruining pillars of our identity: Freewill, Honor, Brotherhood. Blizzard can’t expect players to lose strongly held animosity for her quickly. She’s gonna have to be a frenemy of a side-faction for at least another expansion before the Horde could give her a seat at the table once again.
Alliance players should still get to injure her in some way for their closure. Maybe killing Nathanos permanently.
This is just Anduin being dumb, and talking like a forum poster. He doesn’t believe anything that Sylvanas has tried to explain to him. Which is actually a good thing- because while Anduin is wrong about Sylvanas, he was right about the Jailer.
I think the part where the Jailer decides that Sire Denathrius doesn’t need to be recovered- Sylvanas realizes that the Jailer isn’t going to repay any loyalties. That’s only amplified by the fact that he does not care at all about Anduin willfully supporting his cause.
So, it’s more the fact that she isn’t going to be able to achieve her goals through the Jailer more than actually giving them up for Anduin.
Speak for yourself hut-living Tauren, not even the “Quel’dorei” folk may hold a candle to the brilliance of the true Highborne. Though I would have some respect for the Shal’dorei, if not for their absolute cowardice of course.
Burning the tree was the wrong move, I am hoping to see your beloved queen burn for every soul she send to her manipulative master to torture, as well as any that would take her side.
Only Anduin would see the good and noble hero in Sylvanas.
This could be the tipping point for him. What he just saw in Sylvanas my be the start to him actually believing her and extension the Jailer. Only one question remains; does the sword drop in the same raid as Sylvanas armor? lol I kid.
I think Sylvanas knows Sire D is gtg. If the Jailer’s plain come to past Sire D will be freed and Sylvanas knows it. Sylvanas knows all about doing what needs to be done.
I’m at a point that I believe Sylvanas has changed her afterlife in the Maw. Why would she betray him if he will take care of her in the Maw?
Another thing I’ve noticed is this isn’t her 1st time she’s given someone the choice that she didn’t have. She says so much to Genn’s daughter.
I guess I’m happy it’s happening for the fans that want a favorite character un-ruined, but I really wish this redemption would happen over the course of the expansion, because it’s happening wayyyyy too fast to be believable right now. Like, this is a speed of light redemption.
At least it’s not redemption via a living incarnation of the Light singing her praises, and telling us what naughty, naughty people we are for opposing her.
