I don’t think the week of “pause” for time to pass is going to deliver story at all.
I think it’s a break for the Sylvanas book to take place in, and we’ll be lucky if there’s even a mention in the game of what happened in it.

I doubt the % of ppl who will read the book will break double digits. Players like me who give story advancements a quick once-over will get a TL;DR from wowhead, and I bet, especially w the way the story is going now (cliches, very obviously reused plots, nonsensical advancements, etc), that most of the playerbase doesn’t care.
when the players in an RPG don’t care abt the story to the point where they’re timegating a raid to try to make us care… the story writers should probably re-evaluate what got us here.
It’s also literally only a 1 week ‘timegate’. The vast majority of raiders probably won’t even get to the final boss for the first week.
Thats a hot take. I’ve made millions of gold carrying tazavesh runs. It’s a blast.
I’m not sure what you disliked about tazavesh? was it too hard?
They’re not time gating because of gear, they are time gating for story progression as they explained in the video.
We’ll be getting an item, or unlocking something the 2nd week to beat the last 3. It’s a solid narrative choice and really solid play gameplay wise.
Almost all of the bosses are garbage. The mechanics are super annoying.
No it wasn’t too hard. Don’t try that with me please.
Normal/Heroic isn’t exactly some incredible challenge. There’ll probably be PuG’s killing the final boss.
I swear they don’t actually play the game, and they definitely DON’T listen to the feedback or forums at all. They ignore the most simplest requests and add all this convoluted stuff that NO ONE asked for.
It’s not hard, but the boss mechanics are just annoying as hell and it’s definitely is trash compared to the last expansion mega dungeon…
Bit hey you know what they say about opinions
Given that it’s so far away I reserve the right to change my mind but I’m not mad about this at all at this stage.
I think by 10.0 raiding is going to go the way of the Dodo anyway…several content or ex content creators seem to think so too. I think you will see more engagement from the huge number of average players if that happens. Sorta like a Elven Ring with more than a 4 player cap…no more fetch quest longer story based missions, a expanded gear crafting system that actually produces more desirable gear.
I’m just spit balling it here…but major changes that don’t include raid or die is in the wind.
You probably won’t clear the raid before 10.0 anyways.
I’m not mad either. the only people this affects is the world first race. the rest of us? oh well, we can’t clear the raid week one.
if anything, it will make clearing the raid week two easier, since we’ll have 2x the gear from the early bosses.
but their advertised reasoning for doing this is straight up ridiciulous. “pause moment to tell the story” my patootie. they’re pausing to drag out the RWF and attention/views that gets.
it’s hilarious that they’re feeding us some story otherwise.
It could also be because they didn’t intent to have those bosses in the same raid and they were meant to be bosses in 9.3 which they then changed when SL flopped. That’s what I think but obviously I’m just guessing
SoD says otherwise when it came to week 1 clears.
Sounds like a potentially cool new idea I hope it works out great and is amazing!
I don’t think we should be using sod as out blue print for a successful raid lol
Week 1 elites raiders get in. get all the good stuff
During week one a few non elites will get in because they are spouse
or girlfriend/boyfriend or elite raid leader owes a lowbie lots of money at work.
Then comes the denied LFR requests… sorry! ilvl 260 gear is too low. DENIED. Then of course since the past 15 years… hunters denied not matter how good they are. 6 months after release it will be the same.
Then time walking todays raids will be denied because you are not elite.
Then once you do have the gears then you will still be denied because they do not want more than 2 warriors… me me me attitude then its the one of each kind types of raids. Then even though you get the drop they will kick you from raid if you do not hand it to someone.
Some old story of elitism. I get those types fired IRL at work. LOL! PWNED!
Wonder if there will be a world first raid for this one or how it will affect that.
Why does this matter to you?
