I just don’t understand why people are so angry to wait another week. If its progressing the story, theres nothing wrong with it.
It’s an mmo.
Every mm0 has time gating believe it or not.
its a non-argument.

The 1 week timegate or whatever it is, is a non issue in and of itself.
But I do not like how much attention Blizzard gives to stupid BS like the world first race.
Casuals haven’t done Tazzavesh because it is not queue-able.
Competitive players don’t bother with Tazzavesh because it does not reward BiS gear or gear that can at least be upgraded to competitive levels.
As good as Tazzavesh may be, it has been experienced by way too little of the playerbase, and even for people who have done it there is little reason to replay it as of 9.1.5.
SL devs continue to fail to understand the mentality of their non-raiding playerbase, which is proven by how whack the rewards are for content such as Torghast, Korthia, and PvP. (M+ is rewarding but only if seen as companion content for raiders.)
Also, Tazavesh is a trash dungeon with trash bosses that will be neutered when it becomes available for M+.
The dev team has been royally screwing raiders for the past 5 years. Where have you been?
Rewards from nearly all content in the game had to be destroyed to protect raiders from feeling like they had to do it all, even with Titanforging gone.
High-profile raiders were downright praising Shadowlands during Beta, rejoicing that raiders did not have to do world quests any more, and claiming that Shadowlands would be great for casuals because they could grind for months to earn cosmetic rewards.
But Shadowlands ended up being a huge failure because the underlying principle is to deny the majority of the playerbase the power-related rewards that they could have easily earned in any prior expansion, while also tormenting the raiders with chores for supplementary power.
Just doesn’t seem like that big a deal really. It’s just one week, it delivers a better story pace, and not many people are going to full-clear the first week anyway.
ICC was timegated too. It opened one wing per week and that was the golden age of wow.
I genuinely don’t understand this logic. It’s like the story is better if I don’t binge two episodes back to back and instead wait a week. What?
It’s the justification that they had in the little article up top. If it really is or not remains to be seen. I just don’t think this is a big deal. So few guilds even clear the full place in the opening week.
I’m willing to wait and see what they plan to do with that reasoning before forming the opinion.
No one liked that.
Our stupid wittle brains cant handle the story all at once
That the “logic” they’ve applied to all content for a while now.
Weekly campaign unlocks? Because it would be bad if people did it all in one go, so let’s space it out on a weekly basis. Even if the only thing you’re doing for that week is “Grind 5k Nethershards” or “Kill 100 demons” (lol, Broken Shore), so the spreading out isn’t actually delivering any higher-quality or lasting content.
New zone? Gated content under a weekly timer, e.g. Isle of Thunder, for the same reason.
Torghast? Level increases weekly, because people would absolutely HATE to just go to the actually hard/appropriate levels the moment they’re available.
That’s a big yikes from me, chief. I’m sorry you had to deliver this news. Truly.
So the only way to make raiders happy again is to give them another WoD, so that there is literally nothing else gameplay-related to do (or no way to gain power) except to raid?
Raiders may not be happy with all the systems and chores of Shadowlands, but I would say that PvPers and casuals got even worse treatment, as their power-related rewards have been gutted, and they get very little or no new content each season.
Modern MMOs need a whole lot more gameplay-related content than organized raiding, assuming they want more than a million players.
Not at all. But a great start would be to stop making progression raiders have to do Mythic+ in order to gear up for raiding effectively.
Progression raiders don’t care that there are other things for people to do in the game. What bothers progression raiders is that THEY HAVE TO DO THOSE THINGS because ever since Nighthold Blizzard has tuned the raiders on the assumption that every progression raid is doing them.
The only way to really do that properly would be separate gearing in all three, but blizzard apparently wants you to do everything
If they would just make raiding actually rewarding in terms of the time and effort investment, that would be a good start. They need to get rid of the great vault and triple the loot drop rate in raids for starters. Have actual skips like we had in Hellfire Citadel and Blackrock Foundry. Stop forcing raids to bring classes people don’t want to play, by doubling and tripling up on buffs/debuffs like they did in Wrath. Let guilds do what they want with their loot.
There are a lot of things Blizzard could do to make raider QOL a ton better. They’re not doing any of them. Instead we get loot nerfs and trash like the great vault (something where they took a Mythic+ system and slapped it in with ZERO THOUGHT into how it would work for raiding).
Tripling may be a bit excessive honestly, but I see what you’re saying.
If they designed raids with better gear progression you wouldn’t have to time-gate them.
There, I said it.

I agree with you 100% (for once LOL).
I would also appreciate less trash between raid bosses, and more teleporters and the like both to raids and inside raids.

The Great Vault is bad even for M+. Let M+ have a currency and a vendor to make up for bad luck, and to help M+ players punch above their weight over time. The current Valor system does not make me want to get into M+.
