The Problem is Contamination

Would a hug help, friend?

This could be cool.

You’d have a template set for raid, one for m+, one for pvp and one for open world.

Acquisition of new gear would make that template number go up for whichever bracket it was acquired from.

This would free up bag space.

Just making sure the point drives home.

I think all instanced pvp should have templates. It was awesome in WoD, it just needed to be balanced right.

I think open world shouldn’t have a templated set.

All set’s should work in open world. I mean it’s open world after all.

The problem is that open world people would be required to run instanced stuff to get competitive gear.

Open world gear ought to be the best in non-instanced settings and the best means of acquisition should be from non-instanced means. (Basically like Zereth Mortis gear)

Open world is trivial, they don’t need high end gear to complete it.

That might be so but there’s no reason for a M+er, Raider or Arena person to excel in open world content or have any edge in non-instanced gameplay.

The 4th pillar of WoW should be non-instanced (open world) content.

If open world is a player’s sthick, then they should have the best gear for it.

No bleedover/contamination from instanced gameplay.

It doesn’t matter if they did or not? Open world content is just filler fluff.

Oh your one of those guys huh?

No, solo content should not be more rewarding then social content in an mmo.

No.

There does need to be something as a pre-up for the other forms of content, which is where world content comes in.

That’s part of the problem.

It should be more than that or WoW would devolve into a waiting lobby while Arena matches/BGs are formed, M+ groups are assembled and Raids gather. (Sadly, the current relevent city of each expansion becomes exactly that.) Shattrath, Northrend Dalaran, Orgrimar/Stormwind, Shrine of Two Moons, Garrison, Broken Isles Dalaran, Zandalar/Kul Tiras, Oribos and now Valdrakken.

Should award the best gear for solo content. Which would have NO BEARING on group content.

NO BLEEDOVER

Self-contained pillar.

You can wear the other content’s gear to get started in your chosen content; but you’ll replace it soon enough. That’s how it works currently and there’s no need to change it.

That’s why there is reps, quest chains, secrets, profession farming etc, etc is for.

Shouldn’t be catered to in a MMO (massive multiplayer online) game. It’s just world content bro.

You start with gear you get from the world, then you get into starter gear from that content and work your way up. It’s how it’s always been. world content is generally used as catch-up gearing too to help equalize players for the new instanced content.

I really don’t understand the need to push for rewarding players powerful gear for being solo in a game where all the challenging content being in instanced groups. You just don’t need it for world content at all. It also decentivizes the other content if you could get all the gear you ever need in the world.

Instanced players care for none of these things with exception to consumables.

If they could start the game at max level and immediately jump into the content they enjoy, they would gladly do that.

World Content should award the best gear for World Content.

It doesn’t have to be this way, though. The system can absolutely be changed.

For solo content, only.

If you want to become powerful in one of the other pillars, players can choose that content to push.

I disagree.

This isn’t a solo game though. The incentive should be pushed for non-solo play.

Yes the 3 pillars, there is no 4th.

The forth pillar absolutely needs to be established.

Only if it involves group play, not solo play.

But then the higher level players drooled for low end pvp armor to be moggable so they take away from the poor low players and gave to the higher level rich players.

That is major contamination right there.

You can choose to group if that’s your prerogative and I’ll wager those world quests will offer the best rewards.

Nice on putting words in my mouth. Lost my respect to you for that.

When I say no to world content being the 4th pillar, I mean no.

If there is a 4th pillar formed, it will need to be a form of group content not involving open world. Since open world already has enough going for it.

What people do with their resources is completely on them.

Did nothing of the sort.

We’ll have to disagree on that, then.

You mean a fifth pillar of endgame content as the fourth pillar will be world content; as it always should be.

When?
As I recall, vanilla and BC PvP players were screaming because the full raid geared players would wreck them, “forcing” PvP players to raid for gear.

Game modes will never be truly separated, but its good to dream big I suppose.

These are my words;

You answered this;

As in you are changing my words to be agreeable for world content (or solo) having equal gearing to group content, when in fact it was a disagreement response.

Yes we will. And thankfully blizzard does too.

So you give more disrespect then, got it. No it won’t be a fifth btw, it would be a fourth, because world content should never be considered an end-game content.

It’s all I can do, really.

I may be wrong, but the divide might’ve started in WoD but maybe even as early as Cataclysm because I remember grinding out my conquest gear and being pretty useless in Firelands with it.

Open world or non-instanced would be the fourth.
