The assumption based on leaked information is 5/18/2021.

Regardless, yes, having an official statement of a potential planned release date for the TBC pre-patch would be nice.

EDIT: other players below said Blizzard has said there WILL be a TBC pre-patch. So my logic is wrong…and I’m deleting it.

After all, none of the new features will happen on “Classic Era only” realms, so none of the new features can exist until the server split happens. And I think that is called “the expansion”, not “the pre-patch”.

That’s a new situation for WoW players, that has never happened before. So “what happened before” does not apply in this situation.

There will absolutely be a pre-patch, as Blizzard specifically stated you could level BE/Draenei during the pre-patch, unlike original TBC pre-patch. There will likely be a point where you can transfer to new Classic-only realms prior to the pre-patch time, but the timeline is unknown at this point.

Looking at when the Beta came out I would say sometime in May for the pre-patch.

that seems like a long time from beta to release. Classic beta started in May and was released in august. This beta started in march so expecting the beta to be 1-2 months longer than classics, bearing in mind classic had more that needed to be tested, seems quite extreme.

classic launched with one raid though. which had one known issue, in Rag not submerging right.

BC has a lot of systems in heroics, 3 raids, and two years of classic minmax whiners needs appeased. plus they fired the dev team so there’s that
