The Player Housing Realistic Must Haves List

I dig the format, OP!

The last question is the kicker, because I want to be able to change my choice at any moment. We have no idea the scope of the project; will we be able to have multiple houses? If so, one for each character? Or four, to represent your “favorites” across your Warband?

The answers will dictate expectations.

If we’re only doing a single House per account, then it needs to be super modular (and probably quite a bit larger, as well). But if we can have multiple houses, then I think there would be a lower expectation for individual customization, but more distinct choices.

For example; let’s say we get multiple houses. Maybe they can be instanced together as your Warband’s own little “neighborhood”. In such case, my Paladin would want a traditional Human house, my Death Knight would probably want something Scourge-related, and my Mage would want something Blood Elf related.

But if we only get one house per account (which is reasonable), I would want a much greater level of flexibility. I might decorate mine like a posh, somewhat gothic castle (probably similar in “feel” to something like Castle Nathria), but then maybe I would get bored and make my “house” into something more like a tavern. Or even go all-out for the Christmas season.

Like I said, if it’s going to be instanced housing, I want to be able to choose “themes” for lighting and weather. Maybe I want a lush green forest, or autumnal colors. Maybe I want a frigid-looking winter where all the trees are dead and it looks dangerous, or I want a winter that gives more of a “Santa’s Workshop” feel.

Customization is definitely going to be key, and having a strong variety of things to choose from.

This. Because it’s an easy system and means they can crank out more and more stuff.

I’d also like the option to display oil paintings of famous characters throughout Warcraft’s history of prominent figures.

Yeah as long as we can swap gold for store credit I won’t be bothered that much by some stuff in the shop, so long as it isn’t an overwhelming amount. It’s basically just a gold sink at that point, which I fully expect a large part of housing to be.

A HOUSE in a major city, or heck fill out goldshire/razorhill with a neighborhoods lol.

Both. This is an easy both.

Customization to show off achievements AND let you play with overall design.

Easy both. The garrisons allowed you to change your guards to any of the races you wanted. Would be simple enough to change overall theme.

If you don’t expect them to make Store Exclusive decorations, you’re out of your mind. That’s too lucrative a market to pass up and they’d be insane not to do it.

I am going to require a CAVE to live in…

rather have-both
yes decorating
yes race choices but i pick the one i want not just because i am that race

Now I know we have all played other games with houses. Personally the best on I tried was Rift hell not sure its even a game anymore but the way they did the houses was great. Pieces dropped from mobs, were found in puzzle hunts, bought from auction. The pieces were varied parts of the environment sky color atmosphere music ground clutter water types not just chair, bed etc. They were adjustable in size and snappable and recolorable. You could set the background from plain to whatever, it was basically your own artistic box set. I hope that is the type of thing we get with the house. Ie you get a certain look premade. That you can decorate how you like ie achievements bed table but you also get to recreate the space however you desire.
The other major thing that needs to be addressed is the neighborhoods. In most games they are ghost towns. To prevent that. They could have contests 1 or twice monthly with staging in the neighborhoods. Tour others houses see what is done vote. Tied into the holidays or simply because you have a house. Like a best village contest. 1st neighbors vote on best house to tour then displays in neighborhood voted on for best neighborhood. Then the designated “best” neighborhood is the one you go through to drop into your own space. It would keep the “town” small but give it a lived in feel.

That’d be cool. Take a page from The Sims game.

This makes it important to make it clear that further monetization of game is unwelcome, before it takes root.

This might be an unpopular opinion as well, but I wouldn’t mind some store exclusive decorations.

I am a fan of choice so having the option for an apartment in a major city or a house in one of the zones would be great. A small apartment would get good for people that do not wish to get so into player housing but still want a home base that is not the garrison. Where as a house in a zone could have the option to be large and people could go more in depth with it.

I want to decorate it but realistically I see it being a mix. Where people will collect things to added to a menu of items you choose from. It would also help to have a few presets layouts or designs for people that don’t want to decorate or pick from achievements.

Frankly I would like options for all three. We don’t have to get everything at once but the basics should be races and some zones. Things can always be added as time goes by.

You see, I don’t want a house. It’s a tree where I can live inside or it’s dead on arrival.

I wish I could get, at least, these things :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated: :

  • Intanced house like WoD garrions
  • A toy or a hearthstone to go or come back in our house
  • No limit to keep our house in the time
  • Many houses in the world of Azeroth
  • Put some npcs in our houses
  • Invite some minors npcs in our houses
  • Customize our houses with ncps and decorations
  • Be able to change the music in our houses like WoD garrions
  • No limited houses in a city or in an area
  • For hunters: put our pets in our houses. For warlocks: put our demons in our houses

Get a house in these locations:

  • Elwynn Forest (human architecture style)
  • Durotar (orc architecture style)
  • Ashenvale (night elf architecture style)
  • Eversong Woods (blood elf architecture style)
  • Dun Morogh (dwarf architecture style)
  • Tirisfal Glades (forsaken architecture style)
  • Gilneas (worgen architecture style)

  • The Hinterlands (wildhammer dwarf architecture style)
  • Eastern Plaguelands (“creepy” architecture style)
  • Stranglethorn Vale (jungle troll architecture style)
  • Duskwood (haunted architecture style)

If they pigeonhole us into TWO types of buildings: human or orc, I will literally lose my mind

Race based and having homes in other major cities is so important to me, if i play a troll i want to be in zuldazar or the islands not a random.home in orgrimmar.

At the very least there should be a home in every original race city and expanded to allied races later on.

Also have full custimization like in gw2 of where things go and what ur place will look like. The more options the better.

Inb4 it’s timegated

Absolutely both.

Sure.

A Race, Class, Faction, Zone, and also a general theme would be great options.

And also:

  1. Ability to make the house character specific or warband wide.
  2. A portal that can be set to go to either Org/SW or the current expac capital. I’d prefer to not have to carry mulitple hearthstones in my bag or be forced to physically travel to my house or main city.
  3. Bank/AH access. Now I know this may be controversial but hear me out. Mobile AH’s and banks already exist in the game in the form of the Brutosaur and Jeeves if you have Engineering.
  4. A mailbox. A house wouldn’t be a house without it.
  5. The ability to decorate the walls with or have mannequins with unlocked item apperances. I’m sure the former is a given as that was shown in the teaser trailer.
  6. A front/back yard in addition to the inside.

You mean a cumulative massive amount of grinding to unlock it over a period of weeks or months? That wouldn’t work for me. I’d just ignore the feature.

to late it already has. that ship sailed the moment they added tokens in
