So Ion claims they will be watching for legit feedback and pivot if needed to bring us the experience we have all been asking for. So, let’s put it all constructively in one spot and make it easy to find, and let’s make it easy for them.
Which would you rather have?
- An apartment in a major city
- A house out in one of many zones
- Both
Do you want to decorate it?
- Yes, I like decorating
- No, just pick from my achievements
What will your house look like?
- I want it based on my character’s race
- I want it based on the zone it is in
- I would like to pick from any race
These are just a few very specific, on brand ideas. But let’s be serious about this. It’s the only way they take feedback. If we can keep it specific, about our own opinions, and not let it derail, this could be a MEGA topic they look at for the next 15 months til we get Midnight.

My only two must-haves are:
-
Housing must not be a cash shop quagmire
-
There needs to be free placement and scaling of housing items, rather than snap to specific spots.
Everything else can be adjusted over time, but these are fundamental.

How would you feel about having decorations available in game to earn AND in the cash shop for those who do not want to earn them for free? Like how SWtOR does it? You can loot the items if you farm them, or you can spend money on them, OR you can spend credits to buy them in the AH that someone else spent Money to buy and turn into gold?

I want an underground bunker. So I can name it the Massive Casket. MC if you’re nasty.

There needs to be a basic starter unit that does not require a massive amount of grinding to unlock.

sounds like a win/win/win so that’s sure to disagree with everyone.

This could fit thematically with the Venthyr, and maybe the Forsaken since they have “Undercity” as a capital. But most of their buildings have gothic architecture and are not subterranean.

SWTOR is an example to avoid - that game is now a soulless, cash-shop driven hell.
If there are housing items in the cash shop, they should be extremely limited and should not be superior to in-game offerings.

I feel like this will happen. Here’s some basics, now do to the rest what you will. But having basic templates is a must. Should there be a template for each race?
I’m not being sarcastic when I ask if it’s the cash shop that’s done it, but any time I have tried to come back it felt, to me, that the game needed a good sweep. - if that makes sense.
I don’t think WoW will suffer that same fate. Mainly because, it’s WoW. and SWTOR isn’t wow. It’s SW, but not “WoW”

What if they were simply recolors of available items? Say instead of a red or blue couch, you wanted green? If green were an in game drop AND a cash shop option, would that work?
You can have this in Fallout 76.
I’m not playing Fallout 76.

It helps that we are not a F2P with cash unlocks. Which is why any cash shop options should already be added as potential in game drops, or a “home decorating” vendor purchase for gold.
i wouldnt spend real money for the “playing dollhouse” part of the game personally.
dont want them to think this is the aspect of the game they need to focus on.
theyve got a real game to fix.

We’re speaking specifically about WoW. What we would want to see in terms of player housing.
And you do not have to. If they give everyone their first home, free, with basic decorations, is that a suitable option for end game players?
I don’t want to be confused as a wow fanboi. I’m not. I do not love wow. I love games and I really respect what wow has accomplished.
That being said, even now, I feel, WoW still has incredible momentum. It’s got the power to faulter and right itself.
Also, yes, subscription does help keep some of what’s going on in SWTOR out. agreed.
So as long as player housing is an optional cosmetic and does NOT become the requirement the Garrison was, then you are good with their addition?
