The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

They have NO WILL. They have ‘I’m hungry’. THAT is their free will. They’re mindless aberrations bent on hunger, hunger, hunger. That’s it.

If they still had their will, they’d still have their class skills. They don’t. They’re as mindless as the rest of them. Only they have a player behind them so the zombie can act extremely out-of-character by ignoring food RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT.

You haven’t pointed out one single thing I’ve been a hypocrite about. Not one. I’ve been consistent with what I’m asking for and what I want. World rules applied to everyone. Just like I was against a flying/no flying toggle. I’m against opt in/opt out for this event.

Not my fault you can’t see it and just want to prove yourself somehow.

Or let me step aside from the PvP portion of it. It’s all I’m asking. I’ll fight AI zombies for the entire event, but PC zombies are not fun. Not for me, because I opted out of PvP YEARS ago.

Source?

No they have zombie skills.

I think you’re too caught up in the idea that some of the Zombies are controlled by players. Get over it.

Things that zombies do instinctively. Suggesting they are mindless flesh-hungry minions. Nothing more.

Respect my agency to not be attacked against my will, thanks.

There is no pvp portion. There’s only pvz.

Is it controlled by a player? Is it attacking another player? That’s PvP.

That’s like saying if I have a tank in a BG and attack someone with it, it was the TANK that killed them and not ME.

Now let me quote this from your article:

Slowly. Not instant.

Except players will be controlling them. Sorry.

Respect the rules of the game world. Thanks.

What? Getting attacked by an NPC is against your will as well.

This is a you problem.

Except that’s not the same at all. This event affects inside and outside of WM.

Prove myself? Hardly. I’m secure enough with who I am that I don’t need to seek other people’s approval.

You’re the one going on endlessly about taking away player choice when it suits you (no opt-out for the pre-patch event) but allowing players to keep their choice when it comes to something that would benefit you (having flying available to everyone and having individual players choosing to use it or not versus not having it available at all).

You claim that you’re being consistent with your stances. I disagree. But unlike you, I acknowledge that there may be a flaw with my viewpoint, so I would welcome you taking the time to break it down Barney-style for me. Who knows? You might even convince me.

EDIT: I re-read your last post. I can see now what you’re saying, and I’m big enough to admit when I’m wrong, and I was.

Addendum: I generally agree that the game-world rules should apply to everyone, but I was around for the Wrath pre-patch, and I remember HATING it, so I would be fine with there being an opt-out for events that cause misery for a decent chunk of the player base.

For prior Forsaken. This is something that is strictly a Forsaken problem that they deal with.

YOU getting raised is instant mindlessness.

Which is out of character for zombies to act with any level of intelligence. And remember, Forsaken aren’t zombies.

The rules of the world were established with War Mode and need to be updated to reflect this.

There’s a difference between being hunted intentionally and maliciously by a PC and happening to aggro an NPC. One is another’s malice, the other is a mistake on MY part. If I see an AI zombie, I can see how to maneuver around it, or decide to fight it, or decide to escape from it. A PC zombie doesn’t give me that choice and pretty much decides for me whether I’m going to fight.

THAT is the problem.

Then the War Mode event should only allows AI zombies to affect me.

This is always going to be my response, so you can save your typing on this subject.

Do you think LFR raids are somehow ‘invalid’ because the boss wasn’t fighting at its hardest? It’s all the same ‘content’, just differently enabled due to an arbitrary game setting. Like War Mode.

Fair enough. Thank you.

I was around for it and loved it. Many people loved it as well. We’ll see what happens. I’m still hoping for a no opt out.

Source for this? Seems like when we get raised it will be player controlled.

Not according to the game.

I keep telling you this event happens inside and outside of WM.

This isn’t a WM on/off situation. This event affects the world.

My response is always going to be “this event will affect the world inside and outside WM, best bet is to get ready”.

A raid is a raid is a raid. Going by your logic an event is an event is an event. Now you want to differentiate?

We really still going on about this? Just let it happen.

Many people hated it as well. Please try to remember them when you’re discussing things with wide-ranging implications for all players.

I’d prefer to see an opt-out, personally, as I’m one of those players that’s likely to log out the night before the pre-patch goes live in some random place away from major cities.

I guess I just tend to err on the side of giving players more choice and agency in the game, not less.

Which is out-of-character. I linked you why.

No zombie acts with intelligence on its own. It follows a hunger instinct, or programming from superior undead. Since there ARE no more superior undead, there leaves one option.

And I keep telling you that player-controlled zombies and AI zombies are entirely different in behavior and threat.

The Fourth War affected the world. Yet I could WM out of that just fine.

Which, again, is countered with, I get ready by toggling War Mode off to turn off Player Zombies.

Hey, I agree, an event is an event. Every event respects War Mode. So it looks like we’ve got a bug to squash here folks. I’ll submit the bug report next time I’m on PTR.

People keep kicking the hornet’s nest, so stinger’s gotta sting.

EDIT: Also, unrelated, but you look like a dueling flag with the red background and smaller icon.
