The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

If you want to opt out, you already can by staying out of faction capitals.

Blizzard doesn’t need to add a coward button.

Then don’t add one. Respect the War Mode toggle.

Again, why is Forced Participation with a lower overall number of players better than Opt-In with a higher number, especially if this event is going to be Fun Fun Fun?

Participation isn’t ‘forced’, and you’re assuming enough players would quit to make it lower, it wouldn’t.

You’re assuming players wouldn’t Opt-In to check out the event. Why? It’s a fun event, right?

Also, I’m forced to either hide in the Garrison or log off. Because I don’t want to PvP. I find no fun in killing other players.

But why are you so special that you should be able to opt out of the world?

Why are you so special you can opt out of the world?

Because I’m special enough that I can opt out of the Alliance trying to kill me? I’m a player character. So are you. We get to have different options.

Isn’t that fun?

Not the same thing.

You didn’t answer my question.

Why are you so special that you can choose to opt out of the world?

Because I have player agency. Again, I don’t have to be someone else’s victim. That’s all you want. To shame me into being a victim for your Ghoul horde.

That doesn’t exclude you from the world.

Why are you so special that people shouldn’t be able to opt out of event? Isn’t that kinda selfish?

And let’s not misrepresent things here. This is the event, not the world.

It excludes me from content I don’t want to do.

EDIT: This character never fought the Lich King. Or Illidan. She didn’t even do the Legion endgame. She’s just a panda that blows stuff up.

It’s a world event that is has an effect on the whole game world.

Why do you think you’re so special you just get to opt out?

Shouldn’t be able to opt out of the world. Well except with the log out button.

Again, its not a permanent event. Making it opt in of course would descale the amount of people in a scourge invasion making them almost non existent since people will wipe out the zombies before they become noticable. We need the invasion to be forced onto everyone even if they dont want it. Thats the point of an invasion, to encourage people to make groups to clean out cities until someone manages to get infected, roam into a city and reinfect it. Infecting a capital city is not easy so it would be a while before that happened. The only people majoraly affected are auction house afkers (You could put an Argent Dawn npc in the Auction house to insta kill ghouls)

But you’re still part of the world.

It’s still an event. And what effect on the whole game world? NPC’s and players dying? They die all the time, what makes this event special?

Lore/World Building? That’s gonna happen anyways, again’ that makes this event special?

What makes this whole situation funny is everyone is saying ohh but we are testing the prepatch event and killing everything. Meanwhile the new questing content goes untested because the npcs are dead. Guess we are only supposed to test half the content.

Not if I log off. Which is what you’re obsessing over. You crave a victim because you’re terrified your Blizzard-sanctioned gankfest won’t be popular enough unless the game strongarms everyone into it.

All it encourages me to do is log off until it passes. If it were opt-in, I might be able to check it out. As it stands, it’s an insult to my time and my agency as a player.

Then log off until it passes. People have unsubbed to the game for things that have been in the game for years. Having some people unsub or log off for a temporary event wont hurt blizzards income
