The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

Yes because you’re not understanding:

It literally only going to last for a couple months, not a permanent feature. Im sure in its current state it will be tweaked as not to crash servers. If you are so worked up about it then just unsub until SL releases.

So, what if that N-1 player decides to just log off for the event? Is it still a failure?

I’m arguing that this event can be fun, and even bigger, if it allowed players to opt-in to the experience (“Hey check out the Zombie Plague! Come save your cities”) as opposed to forcing the experience (“Welp, you’re dead because of a zombie that infected you before you finished loading. Have fun?”).

No because the world is still being affected and if you do log in you’re going to be a part of it.

You shouldn’t get to stroll through Org/SW consequence free during this event.

So your fun™ event requires unwilling victims.

My fun requires the world to be affected.

Well can i ask you this question (again if i did)? Would’ve you honestly still like it if theirs an opt out option? Because at this point, your letting something like this to get in the way of the event, which makes me question if you really do like the event.

You like this event, but your against people not wanting to participate and against an option to opt out, your making excuses for it to stay forced for people, and your telling people to log off if they don’t enjoy it. And you don’t want it to be a flop?

That’s your subjective opinion friend.

And if I’m sharded off of your world, it’s literally the exact same as if I logged off.

How’s it affecting you again?

It is trying to emulate a zombie invasion. You would not have a choice in the matter if zombies took over your home town and killed everyone. You have to gather your allies and fight back the invasions to restore temporary peace until the plague is dealt with (When SL releases or a month later when they make a quest to phase out of it)

If you don’t want to participate in the event we’ll probably never get again after a month, just leave populated areas.

Don’t limit the fun of this event because it breaks for norm for a little bit. If you want to cry instead of joining the fun, that’s on you.

Not as much. It’s not the same if people can just opt out and run through Org/SW consequence free. Why? Because this is a role playing game. Why should you get to opt out of the world?

No that’s a fact.

In my shard, the invasion happened while I was away. Folk recovered and I stumble into an Orgrimmar that’s going ‘Jeez, where were you?! The Shadowlands kinda opened up and we’ve got trouble Champion!’

I can get the impact of the invasion without needing to be helpless fodder for people that don’t respect my time and agency.

If I’m not on your shard, what harm am I doing to your event?

Because it’s an option, and there’s options in an a Role playing game. Options who you play as, options where to go, options on what to do. And if somebody doesn’t want to opt in, it’s their option, because it’s a roleplaying game.

You can’t use your subjective opinion as fact friendo.

Unless your saying i can do the same to you, because in my subjective opinion, i think the legion pre-patch was awesome and memorible. So by your own logic, it’s a fact.

If you disagree with that, then that’s your logic there.

OK. So, tell me, which of these events are bigger?

We’ll set the playerbase at 2 million players.

Forced Participation: 1.2 million play, ~800K stay logged off.
Opt-In: 1.6 million play, 400K try it and decide they don’t like it.

Tons of people opting out reduces its scale. It’s a big part of the lead-up to SL and will be fun for those who participate.

I also really doubt it’ll be as crazy as it is on ptr till the very last week, if that’s what’s turning you off.

Two things.

First, I don’t want to be someone else’s victim. It’s why I disabled War Mode to begin with, but it’s strange that this event somehow just can’t happen unless I’m dragged before the zombies. I didn’t know my specific death was so critical to the playerbase at-large! I’m somewhat honored!

Second, if this event is as fun as everyone is screaming it is, why are the people with this position so terrified of people opting out? If it’s fun, people will play, right?

I wonder if any of the people in favor of this event actually pvp? Maybe they are just happy with this event because they can finally feel powerful? Love the event or hate it the true chaos is how its gonna crash everyones pc regardless of your specs.

People logging out and staying in garrisons reduces it scale too. Those three things do the same exact thing.

You can’t be inconsistent with this.
