The Plague Event is Fine, but only if it's Opt-In

I’ll call them whiners if I want.

What I want is the event to affect the entire world. It’s a limited time event. That’s not much to ask for at all.

It is an answer. I want flying to be available right at max level but I can’t have it my way so I’ll probably not play the game until flying is close to being added. Blizzard’s game, not mine.

A two week event is not a big deal. Asking for everyone to be affected by this event for such a short amount of time is not much to ask. At all.

Because I can’t? I’m not in beta and I did play every single day of the scourge event.

I get told that every time I’ve asked for flying to be available right at max level. “Don’t like it don’t play”. I’ve finally taken that advice and haven’t bought SL yet.

Yikes for someone who likes to belittle other peoples intelligence you seem to be lacking it in this particular subject about why you are wrong. It’s ok though I’m sure you will play the prepatch after it releases like this.

no never not going to happen dont beg for things that ruin wow

I kinda wish they didn’t spoil it. I know they have to have players test it because they have no internal test team, but this would really get huge publicity if it went live like this. It would really spike the views on twitch, now it’s gonna get staggered.

Then by all means, enlighten me if you think you can. Take a stab at either of my arguments. Realism or opt out. I’m good for either.

Neither, I got what I wanted already and popular opinion is with me, I’ve already won. Your arguments attempting to change this have already failed to move the masses so that should speak for itself if you don’t understand why you were wrong yet.

…Why does it need legitimacy? i think players can suspend their disbelief even if theirs an option to opt out. They did so back in Vanilla when PvP was first fab.

So does logging out or sitting in your garrison.

So you are of the opinion that the masses get to have the final say on things yes?

Most people by virtue of being humans will take the easiest approach to most things in life, having a button to instantly remove the danger that this type of event is trying to portray kinda defeats the purpose and thankfully blizzard agrees along with the obvious majority of the people in this very thread if we use it as a sample size.

On this one particular subject yes

Go hide in Vashj’ir for a week, nobody is going to follow you there.

Why can’t people just do that then? If people “hide out” in places in the world that’s perfectly fine. Reason: because the entire world is still being affected. That’s what we want. We don’t want different phases where people can just stroll through a major city consequence free. This is supposed to be an all inclusive world event.

Two weeks for this is not much to ask.

Tbh, I’m not even against the event but max levels players can just fly away which you literally couldn’t do in WOTLK pre-patch so no max level will notice the event is even on. The only people that will be affected are brand new players and people wanting to test the new leveling system which they won’t because they get insta killed by these ghouls everywhere they go.

Cool, should be interesting then should the masses ever decide to push the devs to remove PvP or mythic raiding from the game. After all, the masses do get to decide and their will is supreme above all.

By the way, just out of curiosity, how is warmode doing vs regular mode? I mean warmode is clearly the better choice so more people must do it…right?

Ah yes the “brand new player” argument. Lets see what a more realistic scenario for new players is.

  1. New player hears about how shadowlands changes a lot of stuff and will be easy to level and check the release date and come to play on that launch day blizzard announces.

or

  1. Woaaa shadowlands is looking great I’m gonna go start playing a month before the release date for some reason and complain about a special limited time event that stops me from doing something I can easily do on launch day

Oof still tried this argument after I already stated only for this specific event yikes. Also I don’t use warmode so I couldn’t tell ya

I already do that, because cities are too laggy. The joke’s on you!

This may wind up being the most controversial pre patch this game ever gets. Seems to be the new Blizz way how controversial can we push and still have White Knights to back us.

If they were legitmately excited for the game why would they wait a month when they can play now… None the less one of the biggest changes in PTR is the new leveling revamp so lots of players that have been here since the start of BFA will want to try out this new leveling system… which they won’t be able to.

Well that makes no sense. If the masses are allowed to dictate something, why can’t they dictate something else?

As I already said before, I am not personally impacted any by this event. I guarantee I won’t be a zombie at any point UNLESS there are some kind of rewards that I feel warrant my time being spent participating in this event.

I argue out of sheer principal. There should be opt outs and if there is not because “muh realism” then things need to ACTUALLY be realistic and safe zones established by NPC’s because that is what actually would happen, squads of paladins sent out regularly to crush zombies since that is what paladins do and the light is quite good at, and players like DK’s and probably DH’s made immune because “muh lore” says so.

Or people need to just be intellectually honest and admit they get off on being donkeyhats and forcing people to play their zombie slaughterhouse or enjoy the thought of them having to be “crybaby carebear snowflakes” and hiding out in unreachable areas like the garrison. If your event was “so fun and everyone wants it”, there will be so many active participants already!

But we all know there won’t be past a few hours or a day maybe. The hype will die down and people will go back to doing actual productive things.
