In this extreme example, wouldn’t everyone who picks the other three covenants be in the exact same boat as you, thus giving you a population from which you can draw to fill your group?
Unless you’re assuming everyone but you will be choosing venthyr.
Well I imagine that would fall into the same mindset of people who ask for AOTC without having AOTC.
They want free carries, they see good players using Venthyr, they’ll only join Venthyr groups even if they themselves are not Venthyr.

Are you saying that the covenant system, which blizzard has tried about 20 times before in a bunch of different iterations, all of which have failed tremendously, is flawed?
You sir are wrong. I bet you don’t even have alpha, how could you possibly know it’s not good without playing it? It’s only alpha, can we relax a bit and at least wait until 6 months after the game is relesed to give feedback?

Id like people to at least stop pretending Covenants are a “meaningful choice.”
Some choices are objectively straight up awful compared to others. That is not a meaningful choice.
This is the same Classic WoW “Meaningful Journey” argument all over again.
For me it is, so what of it. I put little weight on the choices random strangers have on how I play or what I choose. Sure the actual practicality vs gameplay ‘‘fun’’ on some of these abilities vary to a degree but to me it is a meaningful choice.

It is a meaningful choice for them now. After they get declined for groups, its gonna be a flawed choice, and ill enjoy my popcorn while that happens.

Me: “Ok so what uses could I get out of Fleshcraft as a casual player?”
Them: proceeds to name a bunch of hypothetical mechanic soaking situations that could ONLY ever matter to key pushing / CE raiding
Me: “Ok but I use Blink and Heroic Leap constantly while leveling, wouldn’t Venthyr or Night Fae logically be better for me?”
Them: “Looks like we got a min/maxing copycat sheep over here.”

Blizz should just get rid of borrowed/rental powers. Class design has suffered ever since they have been implementing those.

You guys must have some seriously awful guilds if they’re doing this to you.
Except the guy who left is a geared carry who is likely make your run MUCH easier, and pretty much assures that you will time the key. you are left with 4 other wood cake with non viable covenant selection who will inevitably struggle to even finish.
Many players like that frequently joins groups to carry because they need the key fast, their friends are not online, or whatever reason that they needed the completion. they know in their hearts that they will carry every group they join and they accept that. but they need to see that the rest of the group at least look like they can actually do it. if the carriage is too hard, they’ll go and find a slightly better group.

Each of my alts will have a different covenant and none will have a problem getting into 15+ keys. Why? Because I have a guild/friend group, which this type of content is catered to.

Imo, one crucial distinction to note is that while that covenant ability if it doesn’t get changed (it should get changed) is most likely best for M+, the class specific venthyr ability may not be best for raiding or pvp for a specific class.
And if your primary gameplay is raiding or pvp you may not have access to that ability, and there will be a lot of others in your shoes no matter how casual or hardcore they are.

See, this is the kind of stuff that makes these discussions incredibly hard to have, because they’re always marred by hyperbole. Even if I accepted the premise that the Venthyr abilities are far and away the superior choices, you’re seriously going to argue that all other options are so bad that the entire group will struggle to finish because of them? Everyone who joins Bastion is a “wood cake?” Come now.
Raider .io is still going to be a thing. I’ll take a guy with good experience with the dungeon regardless of his covenant choice.

Not every venthyr is going to be a carry. but the one that are, and will leave the group because of that reason, is likely to be one.
I have hosted groups and picked up people like that. And then my goal is to at least look like im performing well enough so that they stay around. I am not going to lie and say i did not enjoy the mind blowing speed and smooth run.
I don’t really think its hyperbole at all.
Make it a travel not a portal.

I will be playing all by my self it seems, because a silly teleport is not enough of a reason for me to forsake the beauty and rapture of the Night Fae and their Ardenweald fox form.
Just thinking about those new fauns leaves me positively breathless.
