Saying that your group will struggle to finish just because you don’t have a venthyr in it is absolutely hyperbole. Again; the other covenant choices may very well be sup-optimal for an M+, but this doesn’t mean the entire dungeon turns into a slog because of it.
Okay? So you’re less likely to get carried by good venthyr players. Again, that’s just more of an incentive to make sure the people you do take know what they’re doing, regardless of their covenant choice, and resources like Raider. io are explicitly designed to help you make those informed choices.
I’m with this guy. Who cares how good the venthyr are? Ardenweald is my home.

Other people being able to swap covenant abilities does. It stop you from playing the one you prefer exclusively. It just keys them play the content in a high end way the way they want to too.
Why be against that?
I’m sorry, could you rephrase this? I’m not sure what you’re saying.
As far as I know, there’s nothing “stopping” you from playing one covenant exclusively if that’s what you want to do. If you’re a high-end raider that puts a lot of stock in min/maxing, then sure, that’ll factor into your ultimate decision. I just don’t believe we’ll get to a point where things are so catastrophic where a group full of Bastion loyalists will be literally unable to complete their keys just because of their lackluster covenant abilities.
And thats the issue, covenants being swappable so high end players can progress properly doesnt affect casual players, nevertheless these “players” (i would call them another thing against ToS) spout their “choices must be meaningful” thingie just for reasons.

I would love to say its been flagged and talked about to death and obviously would never make it into the live game… but the Dev team these days adopt a “wait and see” approach no matter how evident things appear they will follow Zap Brannigan “call us when its a catastrophe” situation.
I mean that high end players will pick based on m+ or raid (I don’t enjoy pvp) and then be gimped for the other ones.
Paladin for example can buff the whole parties damage if night fae and it will be the only choice for mythic raiders really.
However for m+ something like divine toll sfrom kyrian is probably better. That means that whichever I do I will be missing out on playing to my maximum potential in the other.
Players should be allowed to swap these abilities like we can with essences and talents or even azerite.
Not being able to swap helps No one while hurting higher level players.
However being able to swap helps high end players without hurting more casual players who can stick with one of they want to anyway.
You could have a main covenant and after getting exhaled be allowed to start working on others. Or just able to swap abilities right away. Or basically anything other than what they are doing tbh.

And Id like people to stop pretending “mains” are a meaningful thing.
So you choose the best covenant on the character youll raid with and the rest get the other for cosmetics.
Let’s not pretend that isn’t what everyone will do anyways regardless of them being balanced or not.
Or Blizzard can stop being proud imbeciles - it really only can be pride at this point - and scrap a system that’s so obviously doomed to fail.

Because people are so into checking essences and traits right now… no, they aren’t.
Even half the the AOTC groups don’t check for AOTC
And this is why we can’t have nice things.
Yea I don’t see why this is a problem they would create for themselves when it would be so easy to avoid too.
