The old pvp ranking system needs tweaks

No, it doesn’t promote anything more dangerous than anything else in Classic. If you want it you have to invest time in it.

The large majority of people with 10+ that I knew or encountered didn’t use bots or share accounts. As with everything else, the alleged scale of cheating has become more exaggerated as time has passed. Everyone I played with just committed the time to it, and knew how to play the game atypically well.

And people wonder why we have retail the way it is today. Everyone gets a trophy right?

Oh please

You’re just like the politicians who want to control what we eat to “make us healthy” while they go off eating chocolate candies and fatty foods.

You don’t deserve anything. Go back to retail. Rank 14 is meant for those that make the sacrifice and they get the respect they deserve for their dedication. The system is perfectly fine.

You don’t deserve anything.

So many nolife losers in this thread trying to defend the abysmal classic pvp reward system.

The fact is it’s not a good system, like the topic creator pointed out it creates an environment that encourages cheating, and ignoring any level of challenge simply to maximize honor return.

Enduring tedium is not the same thing pvp skill.

You are being intelectually dishonest.

You’re right. Only 1st DPS in the entire realm for each particular raid should get any gear each week. I’m sure we can come up with similar metrics for tanks and healers.

Skill? The skill ceiling is low. This is an mmorpg. Its not starcraft broodwar.

Huh, why weren’t you able to hit it, then?

Classic’s recreation was not intended to change significant systems. It may be considered “old” compared to what’s been released in other games over the last 15 years but that’s not the point.

We asked and are receiving Classic WoW, stop asking for these kinds of changes.

This thread has nothing to do with how old or dated the system is. It’s about how toxic the grind for Rank 14 is, how much it encourages rampant cheating, and how these problems will be even worse because of increased realm populations. Of all the systems of vanilla WoW, most people will agree that the rank system was the most toxic and needs to change.

I made rank 12 in Vanilla. I am aiming for rank 10 and the full blue pvp set this time around. I loved the rank/honor system. It was my favorite part of the game. I am thrilled it is back. It would be a travesty to remove or change something that was such an essential part of the Vanilla pvp experience.

Sure, soon as you promise no one will use pvp system changes to push for other changes.

I’m all for not changing core stuff that would break the “balance” of the game, I’m advocating for a change here because this is absolutely insane, it is the only thing that classic needs to reasonably change.

You say that but you realize the moment you change the pvp grind what youll unleash?

“Its no longer authentic vanilla and its open to changes, lets adjust classes, lets add transmog, etc”.

Changes like transmog are unreasonable though.

To you and me? Yes. To the people that want them? No.

And they absolutely would use such a change to their argument

My guild pushed out the first horde rank 14. The account was shared across at least 3 people that I knew of. Our guild created a monopoly on who got rank 14 on horde. I played casually and never got into the amount of BS the original honor system started. Horde guilds hated each other. If your guild wasn’t cheating, you weren’t competing. That simple. It just really created a rift in the servers community.

The funny thing is one of the people who played the account that helped get it to rank 14 stole it and ebayed the character for like 400 dollars. Pennies per hour for how much work it took.

Even crazier, the guild left servers, went alliance, and pushed more rank 14s on that server by sharing accounts.

Have fun competing with people who WILL be doing that.
