Blizzard,
With all the negativity surrounding BfA (some justified, some maybe not), guess who's holding your player base together? Yup, healthy active guilds.
Guild leaders spend extra time out of their week to help and maintain their guild.
^^This!^^
This is simply stated but oh so very true!
I myself mentioned several days (weeks?) ago how guild leaders create their own communities and how (at least in the case of my own guild, our members come back xpack after xpack for that guild community we created NOT necessarily merely for the new content Blizz creates.
Blizz! Stop cutting your nose off to spite your face!
Not to mention this Blizzard:
85 PAGES and counting should send a very clear message.
Still doing my daily read-through. I felt like I had to bring this one up because of the irony. I'll bet this poster back in July didn't expect we'd go
months (and counting) with no reply.

going on 9 days still no post from the Developers do not you people get it by now they will not post because they do not care they sit behind their desk and do nothing lol thay just laugh at your post
Here's a nice idea about guild recruitment from page 28:
Please for the love of god put the permissions for the guild ranks back the way they were, breaking something that works and worked really well makes no sense.
If you want to fix something:
1. When someone looks for a guild using the recruitment tool they can leave a message for the guild officers to look at.
2. A guild officer can send a message back to them using the old mail system or can try to invite them on the spot. If they aren't on then the invite never happens and the waiting game begins.
This should be fixed.
If a person is invited and they are OFFLINE then the system should flag them to be auto-invited next time they log. It should auto-invite create a message something like, "Congratulations you have been accepted into 'BLAHBLAHBLAH' which you applied to on 'BLAHBLAH'. Do you wish to accept the invite?"
If they do not join its done.
if they join its done.
Officers no longer have to worry about the person until they are online.
That is a fix to a broken system something that we have needed for a long time, not this permission change, or even this attempt at a DISCORD copy.
The only issue I see with this is if the player looking for a guild put in a request at several guilds. But then I guess several invites can pop at once. As soon as they accept one, the others are automatically declined.
In any case, the guild finder system definitely needs an overhaul. I'm very disappointed that the new guild "upgrade" didn't include anything regarding invites and instead just broke things that didn't need fixing.
Suggestion: Plant a Goblin Seaforium Charge with a Samophlange-based detonation mechanism underneath the current Guild UI. Use a Delicate Arcanite Converter to increase blast yield by rigging some Fused Wiring through a Thorium Tube. Power the whole apparatus with a Khorium Power Core and encase the whole thing in Elementium Plates held together with a Handful of Cobalt Bolts.
How we'd use it: To blow up this useless "upgrade" and encourage rebuilding it from scratch.

Guild leaders spend extra time out of their week to help and maintain their guild. For myself, I use tools outside the game because the ones in-game are terrible.
You've slighted guilds for several expansions now.
Help us help you, and give us the tools in-game that we need to make our roles easier.
This is so true. The last three expansions tore down my love of the game in so many ways. I still interact with my old guild mates on social media, they try to coax me to come back to WoW. But I just can't do it. I just can't support a game that ignores customers like they do.
Three expansions of unpopular game design and outright antipathy towards players has taken it's toll. There are so many universally agreed upon arguments in this thread. You'd think someone in the game design team would want to interact with their customers towards improving the game.
Sadly the current state of game development since WoD seems to be more echo chamber internal bubble design they hope players will like, rather than anything feedback driven players actually want. I just got sick of feeling taken advantage of as I paid for my game time.
I believe that guilds have a future,
give them freedom, let them lead the way.
Show them all the goodness they possess inside!
Give them a sense of pride, and make it easier.
Let the player's feedback, remind you how it used to be.
Everybody searching for an answer
People need someone to hear our voice.
We never found anyone to fulfill our needs
We don't want to spit and cuss,
and we learned just to rely on us.
We decided long ago
Never to hold back our suggestions.
If we fail, if we succeed
At least we'll live as we believe
No matter what you take from us,
never again will you have our trust!
Because a worthless,
change to guilds, is happening to us
I found the dumbest,
Guild UI, has been given to us
The greatest guild controls
are easy to achieve.
Learning to fix your stuff
Makes it so we don't keep this up.

Venjin, you really have a talent for this. You don't write lyrics for a living do you? Because I'm thinking you could.
OP, please come back and change the title of the thread to something about coffee or pineapple pizza so we can get a blue to come and at least say they are pretending to talk about this issue.
Ironically I tend to come up with this lyrics stuff when I'm really angry about something. Otherwise I'm content with the original lyrics to songs.
Anyhow...
Suggestion: Allow guilds to choose between advanced rank controls and simple guild controls.
This lets blizzard have their cruddy new format but gives us back the old stuff we actually need.
Compromise ftw.

*Sigh* Okay, so, we have some type of confirmation that they've seen it. I'll post the quote and link to the source below. This is what Ythisens said in another thread:
I actually read it almost everyday, at least all the new posts on it, and I can say that the devs have reviewed it a few times. Ion said it in a Q&A awhile back but please keep telling us what you'd like to see come back to those controls so that we can look into those. I know it's not a detailed of a response that you'd like to hear on it but that's all we really have on it at the moment.

have reviewed the thread. Why they haven't commented and what does "reviewed" mean? Who knows?..
Please, everyone that has been a Guild Master, Officer, or even just a member of a guild, we need your comments on this thread. Don't let this die off. I've already given my feedback on this thread. We want our Permissions back so we can mange how we want, please.

A: I'd love to give a detailed response, but to be honest my answer is: "EVERYTHING". Seriously - just put it back! Why all the fuss about trying to decide which checkboxes were actually useful? This is nuts. Nobody asked for this. This helped nobody. Just revert. Stop asking us what to put back and just put it ALL back.
I mean this respectfully. I really do. I just don't understand the response. Why still trying to fix something that wasn't broken. Please revert.
There is a brilliant post today on r/wow. "Choice vs Agency and why making azerite traits "better" isn't enough" (https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/9l03g9/choice_vs_agency_and_why_making_azerite_traits/)
Though it doesn't directly address guild issues, I believe that it still applies to the issues we're discussing here. OP discusses agency as the ability to have a specific goal and make meaningful progress towards that goal by taking specific directed action. If we re-think about this as applied to guilds rather than azerite, I believe that most people in this thread feel that the new guild permissions structure makes it impossible for guild leadership to have any agency over the way the guild is run.
For example, right now, we have a choice to select the Officer box or not for a specific rank. That's it. Just a simple check the box or don't. But we lack the AGENCY to respond to a guild need in a specific area. "I'm going to give XYZ permissions to this rank in order to deal with ABC problem."
For myself, agency - particularly in a leadership capacity - ties very directly into ownership. Not the "I own my guild" kind of ownership, but the "I am responsible for my guild" kind of ownership. Because I have no agency, I also have no responsibility. I mentioned in one of my earlier posts that if we as guild leaders do not have the tools to manage our guilds, then Blizzard will inevitably have to police guilds. This is stems directly out of a lack of agency.
Guild permissions need to be addressed. Blizzard, please return our ability to manage our guilds. Give guild leaders back agency over our guilds. Give players back agency over their characters.
This game will be 1000% better for it.

^^This please^^
Right now, I'd (we'd) just like my (our) guild's functionality back.
Hemming and hawing all this time about "what exactly to fix" is sorta silly and a waste of time.
For now at least, please just
restore what you broke erm..I mean 'fixed"
Do that at the very least and you'll get a huge thanks from myself and (I think) from pretty much
every guild leader on Wow.
Perhaps after that is done we can talk about some
real improvements players actually want.
Blue responses i see in other threads about nothing topics yet this thread gets NO RESPONSE FROM DEVS...UNACCEPTABLE! Restore the guild permissions. We will not go away. I will not go away. BUMP!
As stated over and over, we'd like to have full permissions customization for each rank back, like it was before the change. It's not some huge nebulous mystery.

So much this.
In my daily read-through, I see that the vast majority of posts simply want the permissions be reverted so Guild Masters can choose how they want to divvy them up. And I do mean VAST majority.
Blue responses i see in other threads about nothing topics yet this thread gets NO RESPONSE FROM DEVS...UNACCEPTABLE!
The more I though about it after my last posting here, the more angry I became. (again)
What's up with this anyway Blizzard?
WE poured our hearts, souls and awesome suggestions into this now 85 and counting page post! Not to mention our patience, time, effort, energy, emotion, (and in some cases song lyrics..) and hopes waiting for a response.
Any response from Blizzard.
All of our efforts, (Dozens if not hundreds of posts over multiple weeks) all the extensions on the cap for this post, and we the concerned guild leaders who put all that effort into this topic have to hear about a (sort of) response to our concerns second hand from someone who just happened to see that response on a DIFFERENT POST....
(No offense to Delirium, we are grateful to you for helping)
Shafted again!
Ignored! Made to feel (in my case anyway) like we do not matter in the slightest to Blizzard!
After all this, are we to be made no more than an afterthought on someone else's post?
How is that for customer service / relations?
Pretty lame.I had come to expect more over the years.
Delirium said it best:
"Unacceptable!"Oh, and
still not going away, still not forgetting!
I had a new song-rewrite typed up but a network error failed to post it.
For a brief moment I was actually upset about something other than the borked guild controls.
Back to my drawing board while I wait for concrete news.

Thank you for this. I did post on the thread. Hopefully we will get a more detailed response but, sadly, i'm not going to hold my breath.
I can only hope.
