But it will be a HUGE disappointment if the guild updates don’t include fixing the permissions. Until we get more information, it’s hard to be optimistic. Still, I’ve thought for a long time now that the reason we haven’t seen a fix yet is because Blizz decided to do a full guild revamp, which would take a lot more time than making permission check boxes. So I have hope that this update will not only include granular permissions, but a lot of other improvements as well.
Now I’m wondering if the scheduled guild updates will encourage me to reactivate my guild. It’s currently an alt guild designed for characters that don’t get played much but whose players still want the perks of being in a guild.
When I founded the guild, it was with the full intention of being an active guild to help players level and do content. But that was right before the patch that broke the guild permissions. Once I realized I couldn’t assign permissions how I wanted, I pretty much lost interest in recruiting and building the guild. Or really even playing this character.
Perhaps I should try to get in the mindset I had back then.
Just sitting here wondering will a matchbox hold my clothes…*
I mean, wondering if Blizz will tell us more about the planned guild updates and if so, when? Waiting would be a lot easier if I knew what I was waiting for.
Oops. Talking to myself again. Well, since no one from Blizzard is going to venture in here, I guess it’s okay. Better than ignoring myself.
I don’t think the permissions changes were on the PTR before they went live, so it makes me wonder how many of the planned guild updates will be seen ahead of time. I assume since they’re intentional changes (unlike the permissions screw-up) they’ll be on the PTR or Beta. I’m never very interested in seeing what an expac has in store before it launches, but I might peek in this time.
I’m hoping they’ll say something before then, but you’re probably right. It’s just killing me to wonder if they listened to the suggestions they asked us for, or if they went off on their own tangent.
And to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if the promised guild “updates” are nothing more than new guild tabard designs. Disappointed for sure, but not surprised.
I believe that would be at the top of the list of things nobody asked for in this entire thread, so of course, it will probably be the one thing they will give us. While crowing about how they listened and “Here you go, guys!”
Quick update: After the reset last week, we noticed our GBank, Guild News, and other Guild announcements (loot, achievements, etc) were fixed. Many Guilds are rejoicing.
Still feeling hopeful. The announcement of the guild improvements is like a lottery ticket. Until the drawing, you don’t know if you’ve won anything. So you dream a little bit about what you might do if you win.
We can dream about what Blizz has in store for guilds, but we won’t know until the pre-patch if we have a winning ticket.
A couple days between posts is hardly a necro. If you don’t care about the content, you could just mute the topic. Some of us are still frustrated by this change and want them to know we haven’t forgotten what was said.
Exactly. This thread has been ongoing since it’s inception and has never been a necro.
However, yes, the activity has slowed considerably since the early days. I’m looking forward to a time when we can let it go to its well-deserved rest because Blizz finally fixed the permissions.
Thanks for pointing this out. I don’t usually look at the community council forum, but that was a very nice, detailed post. And I’m glad our issue was added to it.
Gotta necro this thread again. At least that’s what some folks claim I’m doing.
So this thread began in July 2018. I haven’t seen exact dates for when the patch with the guild updates is supposed to launch, so this has me wondering if we’ll hit the six year mark before that happens. I would hate for that to be the case. Definitely want to see those guild updates sooner rather than later. Is May too soon? Probably. But hoping for June isn’t unreasonable, is it?
