This is good news, for sure. Makes me wonder what will happen if the stuff that vanished from my guild vault suddenly reappears.
The main reason I didn’t comment on Kishu’s post is that “Guild Updates” is too vague. When they get around to telling us exactly what those updates are, I’ll get more excited. But I AM happy they at least mentioned guilds. There have been moments when I wondered if Blizz wanted to do away with guilds altogether.
Launch of communities breaks granular guild controls.
Ion confirms this was unintended.
Ion asks for feedback on what changes happened and what functionality we want returned/changed.

One day, I’ll come on here all excited about the terrific changes and improvements Blizz has made to guilds and the guild system, including expanding the permissions and making them granular. And then I won’t post here any more.
But until that happens, y’all can expect me to keep posting as long as this thread exists and I’m still playing WoW.
The guild updates listed in the road map aren’t until the pre-patch, which isn’t until sometime this coming summer. If the pre-patch comes in July, and the updates include fixing the permissions, it will have been six years since the patch that messed them up in the first place.
I do sincerely hope our fix will be coming with the patch. If they do guild updates without a granular permissions option, I fear that means they will never fix this unintentional bug.
Summer is a long time to wait for guild updates. Feels even longer with the way the weather is right now. But… we’ve lasted this long. What’s a few more months?
Sorry, I’ve been away. Are we still pretending this was “unintended” and not totally a planned execution of the core of the guild concept in an attempt to herd people into Communities and away from guilds/Discord/Slack/ICQ/whatever?
Haven’t been subbed since May of last year but thought I’d come back for a month to see what, if anything, was new. And I see, as expected, no changes on the guild permissions front, so I’ll just let my sub run out again until next year, I guess.
Who all is looking forward to next week’s patch? I know it doesn’t have any guild stuff in it, but I’m kind of hyped for Azeroth dragon riding, and I’m especially excited about the follower dungeons. I’ll be able to practice tanking* without upsetting people. Anyone else hoping for some fun stuff coming up?
It’s good that they have guild updates on their “road map.” Still, I don’t know how I’ll feel if they have guild improvements that don’t include fixes for the permissions.
Interesting post, Bethereyn with no achieves. Very succinct and ambiguous. It lets us imagine what it is you’re trying to convey.
I’m going to say that’s my expression when Ion said they were working on a fix. I mean, even back then it was hard to take him at his word. Now, of course, we know his word is no more solid than a used tissue. But this summer, we shall see. Were they really working on a fix all this time? Inquiring minds want to know.
wow, that is awful. Really the main reason anyone sticks around this cesspool is because of guilds/ social aspect keeping up appearances. People already raid/log. Now GMs are going to have more jobs because they’re very well not giving anyone who could be some kind of an officer, all these privileges.
It’s like blizz super doesn’t want us to play this game, bad content aside
That’s because that Q&A was back in 2018. This thread has been ongoing since it was started five and a half years ago, so it’s not truly a necro. The permissions problem still persists, and so we keep posting here.
The good news is that guild updates are on Blizzard’s “road map” and they’re scheduled to launch with TWW’s pre-patch. Fingers are crossed that granular permissions will be one of the updates.
It’s a long time until summer. It’s going to be a real bummer to hang on all this time, getting my hopes up, and find out the updates don’t have anything to do with the permissions. Please Blizz, don’t disappoint me!
