I’m cautiously optimistic about follower dungeons. That’s as far as I’ll go.
I confess I have yet to try them. I just haven’t had time.
I’m so busy these days, I doubt I would be able to run a guild even with our permissions restored. Nature abhors a vacuum, and as Blizz made WoW less and less inviting to me, I found more and more other things to do with my time. But I do still love playing when I can. With luck, I’ll try out the follower dungeons with my tanking classes and see if I can’t learn that role.
Popping in to see if anyone else has anything to say. I mean, there really isn’t much of anything we can add. There were so many great suggestions earlier in the thread (after Lore told us to post them here) that there’s not much else to say. I just hope that at least some of those suggestions end up in the promised guild updates.
…How long has this thread been going??
Well this is depressing
July 17, 2018
Six years, dang.
This thread was a kindergartener and graduated to the 1st grade in RL time.
I dunno. I feel like it’s been held back a year or two.
I’m still hoping that the announced guild updates will include granular permissions.
I’m not expecting to see any of the guild updates from the Alpha that starts (probably) next month, and the Beta will start just before the pre-patch launches. I wonder when we’ll get any additional news on features at that rate.
Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get no info on the guild updates until the pre-patch actually launches. I’m just thinking how the current issue with the guild permissions cropped up in a pre-patch with zero prior warning. Just -BOOM-the changes appeared in the patch launch.
Yes, Blizz managed to fix some of the most egregious changes fairly quickly, but since then there’s been nothing. This despite Ion saying the changes were unintentional and they were working on a fix. So, maybe he wasn’t prevaricating and they actually were working on a fix, which we’ll get when these updates go live. Or not. 'Cause it seems like you can never know with Blizz.
It’s hard to think of a creative way to say, “I really hope the promised guild updates include a fix to the permissions” when it’s late and I should have gone to bed an hour ago.
But I really do hope the promised guild updates include a fix to the permissions.
Oops. Ping-ponging back and forth with Fumel again.
I do wish there would be more word on what “updates” guilds are getting. There’s a part of me that’s thinking, “Yes! Finally the permissions will be broken up again!” And there’s another part that’s thinking, “What did they break this time?” We’ve got months to go, and the suspense is killing me.
I too would love to see the granular guild controls be part of the guild updates, but I have been so disappointed when it comes to this issue I cannot believe they will be returned until they are live.
Totally agree. I want to be hopeful, but until I see it in game, I just can’t believe it will happen. It would help if Blizz would announce what updates they have in store–but only if granular permissions are actually one of the updates.
I keep telling myself, “It’s been five and a half years. You can wait another few months.” But there’s always that little voice saying, “And what if these so-called updates have nothing to do with the permissions?” The possibility makes me very apprehensive.
This is me exactly - partly hoping they have actually taken note and make some real, proper, working improvements and partly worried that they’ll either “improve” it by making it worse, deliberately, or just break something by accident and spend another 6 years saying “oops”.
New council being picked…maybe one of them will remind blizzard of the year long wait for the fix…
And maybe it will make a difference.
the 5+ years wait
More than five and a half years now. But it does look like the fix may finally coming. I’m just really hoping we don’t go a full six years before the patch with the guild updates launches.
Well, that and also that the updates actually include a permissions fix.
