The new Guild UI and Permissions...yikes (Part 1)

Well, I guess we have to keep posting until the end of time just so you can hate being right. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

It would be nice though, if they surprised us and actually did what they said and fixed the permissions.

It would be better than nice.

But that is not going to happen. :frowning:

I want to keep believing we’ll get some meaningful change to guilds and guild permissions. I want to keep believing in WoW. The upcoming expansion (at least what was leaked) looks interesting.

Even when they have the official reveal on the 19th, I doubt there will be any mention of guilds. But I’m hoping as more details come to light, we’ll get some good news. I mean, it never hurts to hope, right?

It is just crazy the age of this post and the number of posts in this thread without any attempt to return granular guild controls; especially now that this issue has be raised in the community council thread, (Guilds and Communities are Bursting at the Seams (AKA Character Limit)) .

I once again encourage others to visit the thread and upvote.

I am no coder but I find it hard to believe that returning granular guild controls is something that requires more than 3 years to rectify.

I looked at the community council thread again, but I upvoted it when it was first posted. I suppose I could upvote it again with Fumel, but that seems wrong (even if the forums do allow us to vote on all our alts).

I’m still holding out hope that something will be done in the new expansion–though typing that just now felt very deja vu. Both guilds and communities need help. Blizz can’t keep pushing these issues to the back burner if they want players to stay around.

I feel like most people have given up on WoW, including the devs. This unresolved issue from almost four years ago is one example. Four years.

Okay, it won’t truly be four years until July, but does anyone here think it’ll be resolved before then? Velara is right. They won’t fix our permissions, but they won’t close this thread, either. They think we’ll give up. Or maybe they don’t care if we give up, since they never read the forums anyway. I wonder if they even look at the community council forum. There are some blue posts there, but do they mean anything?

Oh, yeah, I’m babbling right now, writing virtual nonsense just to make a post. It doesn’t seem to matter what we write here. There have been some really great posts in this thread, with terrific suggestions for improving guilds, but none of them made any difference. I’m only posting now because I’m a stubborn old cow, and this issue still matters to me. I wonder if it matters to anyone else?

For what it’s worth, it still matters to me.

I realize I don’t post here like I once did. For that I am sorry. I just can’t seem to think of anything to say that hasn’t been said already, and for better or worse, I am the sort of person that strongly dislikes repeating themselves.

However.

Having said that, I did on the other hand make a promise to Blizzard on the original Guild Permissions thread here years ago (years!) telling them precisely how strongly I felt re: the broken guild permissions and that they (Blizzard) could count on me to NOT forget those broken permissions until they were fixed.

I have not forgotten, nor has a fix been offered in years (Years!)

Unlike certain unmentionable entities, I’m not one to make a promise lightly either.

So…

Blizzard!

Guild permission are still broken!

Speaking for myself, I am completely uninterested in your communities feature and simply ask (at the very least) to have guild permissions restored to their former granular-ness as was promised us here years ago.

Via Ion you told us (years ago) the broken permissions were ‘‘accidental’’ on your part, and that a fix was in the works. You also very specifically asked Guild Leaders here on this very thread (YEARS AGO ) to supply you with more feedback not only regarding those broken permissions, but to supply you with yet more feedback regarding the improvement of guilds in general.

It’s pretty clear now (at least to me) due to the continued years long radio silence from your end, that we all likely wasted a good deal of time, energy, and some wonderfully creative ideas, providing said feedback in abundance.

I also dislike wasting time.

yet…

I also like a challenge.

So…

PLEASE fix the broken guild permissions as you literally promised guild leaders years ago.

Thank you.

I also don’t post here nearly as often, though I still play. I lurk here. But with the new announcement due next week I really hope to see ‘restored AND improved guild functionality’ in the announcement trailer. I sincerely doubt it, and I swear it seems like every day something new breaks.

Like /who is apparently broken if you search for someone by name. But let’s start with fixing the guild permissions y’all said you’d work on nearly three years ago. It can’t possibly make things any worse for the state of the game and the mood of the playerbase to fix it, and it can honestly only -help-.

Restore granular guild permissions.

I’m totally hoping for this as well, even though I know it’s not going to happen. It’s almost like being in an abusive relationship. You know the abuser isn’t ever going to change, but you keep wanting to believe they will.

I don’t know why they haven’t fixed the permissions yet. I don’t know if it’s a lack of resources, priority differences, or what. I don’t want to believe it’s because they can’t fix it. I feel like if it’s simply a decision not to fix it, they should at least tell us that. Instead, Ion said the permissions fiasco was unintentional and they were working on a fix. Is it any wonder some of us still want to believe a fix is possible?

Getting close to the announcement. Will they say anything at all about guilds? What do you think?

I mean, I’m pretty sure the announcement will mostly be about the expansion setting and story. Details like changes to guilds would most likely not be included in all the hype and hoopla even if they were something that’s coming. But, who knows? Stranger things have happened. Maybe not in WoW, but still… :crossed_fingers:

That would almost be worse, to not acknowledge that this thread exists.

So because you’re using something the unintended way, it should be changed back?

I hope that one day guild permissions get fixed.
It’s almost been 4 years :sob: Like, what the heck?

Hypocrite, a bank alt isn’t supposed to be used to post on the forums. Also you aren’t supposed to be transferring goods between alli and horde.
p.s. To be clear you are a hypocrite because you THINK they were doing something wrong and rightfully lost it while you were doing what I said above. For the record I don’t in any way think using ANY chat for RP is “unintentional use”.

So, because you don’t actually understand what this thread is about, you still have to comment?

But hey, thanks for bumping the thread and keeping the cause alive. :+1:

No problem, I hope your complaint from 2018 eventually gets solved lmfao

Do you think guild permissions will be fixed in 10.0?

Was there anything in the announcement?

There was not, but I’m trying to rein in my own cynicism precisely -because- it was just a glorified expac announcement and some features explained. There’s so much more they’ve gotta be working on, because Dragonflight -has- to be better than BfA and SL combined if they want to even hope to climb out of this hole they’ve dug.

I doubt it; the possibility of it being returned as part of the UI overall may prove me wrong.
